I have the Nreal Air, but these look like a nice upgrade...
@@sladewilson9741Just so you know the Nreal air are the same glasses just a different name. I'm not sure exactly what you meant but I just wanted to make sure you didn't by the xreal air thinking they were different.
The footage from 4m00s to 4m10s shows an interface I haven't seen in the phone Nebula app for the Airs. It looks a lot nicer and cleaner. Does Beam enable access to this nicer interface?
Question: Can you use the 3dof display while streaming wirelessly? How's the wireless lag with Steam Deck?
@@sheld0n No, it's part of their trailer, so I think it's CGI. Beam has a different user interface as you can see at 4:26 - they are adding the ability to install more apps later. Might get a better interface then!
I don't own the glasses, but this looks like a solid upgrade for anyone who does. Price isn't as bad as I thought too.

Does XReal Beam work with Rokid Max?
Hey Cas, how does the HDR compare to the Switch OLED. Great content, awaiting your reply!
I don't have a Switch OLED so can't compare :( but I like the colors in the glasses. Good, vibrant, beautiful. Just wish it was a bit sharper like the Rokid's
Hi, although HDR is not supported natively in our XREAL glass, the color and sharpness of the image are more than sufficient for gaming purposes.😆
I see lots of videos that they put the screen upto 330" but I have the xreal glasses and bean and the max I could put it is 139" I never get the option for more then that, and apart from that I don't have the option to move the screen by distance only screen size which is 139" max. Do I have to jailbreak it or something? I have the xreal air 2 pro plus the beam device
"32gb ROM" haha, lol..... My Samsung's usb-c port is getting janky, so I'll grab the beam in order to enjoy my Xreal Air wirelessly.
thanks for the video! Will any usb c cable work on the beam? I got the bundle and I haven't gotten the beam yet - but Im assuming there is no cable supplied. Thanks!
a question: is the xreal beam anchor mode picture better than the picture with the xreal adapter? And can it be bigger than the adapter picture?
I hope to see more content like this. I just bought a pair of xreal air 2 pro glasses 'coz of you!😎😁😅😅😉
Can we access web browser with Xreal without any other device…. Because I noticed Rokid to be better at standing alone
What is the Beams maximum length? How far can your device be before it doesnt pick up the Beam?
Hi, the Beam can only be up to 105.8mm in length. Unfortunately, we currently do not have information on the detecting distance of wireless protocols on the Beam. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
I wonder if we can change the aspect ratio to have a shorter height and a longer width. Like movies at the cinema. That would be super cool.
You sold me on the Beam on your first video, you sold me again on this one. Now just anxiously waiting to get that shipping notification from xReal for my preorder 🎉.
Like you, Im definitely looking forward to glasses with a larger field of view that isnt a VR headset. For now though, the xReal is still one of the best tech purchases Ive made in a while...and its about to get better 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I dont think I have any questions at the moment as a few others RUclipsrs have basically answered them, but still want to thank you for your video that is always full of value and charm.
Cheers 🍻
Your welcome, thank you for watching!
Anyone’s Beam preorder ship yet? Mine has not 😩. I can’t wait til I get it. It will make the Air glasses so much better.
I just ordered a beam off of Amazon. Expected delivery date is the 17th.
@@DavidS.Pumpkin mine is expected to be here today! I hope UPS gets it here on their expected delivery! Can’t wait to try the Beam out!
@@xxjohnnyxrocketxx nice! Do you wear glasses? I do. I wonder if moving the screen will eliminate the need of my inserts.
@@DavidS.Pumpkin I do not wear glasses. I don't know if moving the screen will help with that. If you can connect your Xreal Air to the android nebula app, you can play with the floating windows to see if moving it further and closer will help.
Delivered. So happy. Can’t use it for a few hours but I can’t wait to try it out.
Cas, this is by far the most helpful and well thought out video on the Beam and Xreal glasses. Thank you so much for your digestible take! I’m just anxiously waiting on my Beam. (Haven’t even opened my glasses ..wanted both! 😀
Terrific in-depth (and non-sponsored!) review! Agree with your point about being patient about waiting for these types of devices getting a wider FOV. I believe devices like this are probably closer to the 'metaverse'-ish opportunity that other manufacturers have been espousing. Likely another couple of years before it's a worthy investment.
We love Zelda!!
OMG YES
Hi Cas! Great Video. I got a couple questions but before i ask, i wanna say i love seeing Asian female representation in the Tech video space! Please keep it up, I love watching all your vids as your channel is a big reason i got the Xreal glasses. This is the most thorough hands on video yet!
Questions:
1. Can you use the beam with an iPhone or a non M1 iPad w/o their adapter? Aka Can i connect a lightning to usb-c cable directly into the beam from an iPhone? Cuz I hate this lightning dongle on my iPad.
2. When I use Nebula's virtual monitor software on the airplane, it tends to drift, thus i have to keep repositioning, so i end up just mirror casting. When you get the chance, can you let us know if the Beam fixes that drift on a flight?
Thanks again in advance :)
Hi, let me answer the questions for you first. 1. If you don't want the adaptor connection, then you can use a wireless connection because Beam supports the Airplay protocol.😃2. Due to the computation of Beam itself, the spatial display in the glass is more stable. But I still don't recommend you to use 3Dof virtual screen on a moving platform like train, maybe plane is better. It is because the stability of the screen needs the IMU data of the glass. However, the IMU data may be not so accurate on a moving transportation.
Smartciew is extremly slow. No wireless utube. Useless.
Does the beam really look up to 385 inches?
The Beam is garbage, you cannot stream from any device because Netflix, Prime and the entire slew of streaming companies do not allow secondary device streaming. Save your money.
They are working on HDCP support as mentioned in this video.
When my wife saw my new Beam, she thought I had bought some sort of iPod revival. Not sure what I am going to do with all the adapters I bought previously.
Hello there! You can use an AV Lightning and HDMI-C cable to connect the Beam directly to your iPhone for streaming and app casting.😆
$488, where the meta quest 3 is said to be $699
My beam not recognizing my ps5 😢
Can you screen cast steam deck without connecting the cord to charge the steam deck while playing games?🤔
Hi, currently no, because the Steamdeck doesn't support wireless protocols like Miracast, Airplay, or DLNA.
Good video but it's not Available in the uk
If I categorize this in a list of Wants and Needs. This is definitely a want list. When i have more money, im definitely getting it. Right now I need to save for potential travel plans lol
I never thought these kinds of glasses would be so handy for travel. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts eventually Bax :)
Does this make the hdmi adapter useless.
I can't wait for mine!
Let me know your thoughts when you have it!
This looks like it might make the Xreals a better buy than the Rokkids for me, but I still like the idea of the adjustable focus on the Rokkids rather than having to buy additional lenses.
I hope Rokid will make one like this too
Small fov is a deal killer for me.
Understandable! I can't wait for next-gen to get better FOV :)
That's how the tech is right now for all AR glasses. But what you give up in FOV, it makes up for in PPD. Xreal PPD is higher than Apple Vision Pro.
It's not VR where fov matters.
@@laartwork Its does matter. I've tested the glass before. When fov is too small part of the screen get cut off and u dont get to see the whole image. Only way for me to see the whole thing was to put the glass super close to my eye to where its almost touching my eye and my eye lash would touch the screen when i blink in order to see everything. When i have to put it that close it really uncomfortable and causes eye strain which was why i had to return it. This was before they introduce the beam, using it in its default mode where the screen follow your head.
@@laartworkactually it matters alot, these glasses can do also VR, so if they get large FOV not only AR part experience will improve but also it will he usable for VR
Have you discovered the optimal and simplest method to connect the beam to an iPhone without relying on airplay, solely using a wired connection? Despite having the official Apple adapter and an HDMI to USB-C cable, I'm still unable to make it function.
You mentioned you had to restart occasionally. Was that because when booting up to the menues they wouldn't apear but rather flickering and weird lines and gray screens.
Great video as always! Is landscape orientation supported when casting wirelessly? I have a Beam on order and airplay from my iPhone is one of my main use cases, but I haven’t seen anyone provide any in-depth details on the landscape experience yet.
Yes it does! Just tested for you on my iPad.
Hi, and yes! When you play a video, the image can be landscape orientation.
Personally I’m struggling connecting this as a monitor on my pc when I plug in the adapter to the beam it doesn’t receive any power from the beam so the adapter doesn’t stay on
hahahahahahaha she is very cute and funny, lol
I have one question, for the add 3 screens for my pc witch one suggest me Nreal or Rokid both have a new module to help to pair with!
I’ve not even watched this yet as I know it’s just a fake video as how could you put a 330 inch tv in your pocket - don’t be silly lol 😂
como hago para poner a mi gusto las pulgadas
Just hooked mine up today, using my Fold 3....had to disable Dex from auto connecting to HDMI to get the App to work beyond Screen sharing. Plan to use it primarily for Xbox Gamepass.
The field of view is so small. Realistically looks more like a 27" at 30 inches distance.
I currently have the iPhone adapter with my glasses. I will be able to plug my glasses into the beam then the usb c cable into the iPhone adapter, then the adapter into the iPhone to stream Netflix correct?
Hi, to connect the XREAL Beam to your iPhone for Netflix, you'll need an HDMI-to-USB-C cable and the AV Lightning adapter. The adapter mirrors your iPhone screen to HDMI. Since the Beam has USB-C input, the HDMI-to-USB-C cable connects the adapter to the glass. This lets you stream Netflix wired from your iPhone to the XREAL Beam.
@@XREAl_Tech_Support ah ok thanks!
330"? Why not 2km?
If you tested new Zelda. That game drops frams often. Most likely the game not the beam
Rokid max nose pad made it's difficult to use the glasses. I have to pinch it and make it stand tall. Does this have adjustable nose pad?
la aumente hasta 385 pulgadas
Can’t wait for mine to arrive !
How is the latency when anchored?
I’ve been working hard to remove all latency from my setup, also am happy with 120hz :)
120Hz isn't possible on the Beam at the moment.
@@sdmods619 yea but what about latency? Input latency, draw latency etx
@patrickroza3073 With the Beam there is no latency. The only issue I've seen is a barely noticable frame skip on the Ally and Steam Deck with SFV and FFIV. Xreal mentioned they're looking into fixing that.
EDIT: I found a fix! Just disable depth control in the settings of the Beam. All features still work except depth control and screen size is limited to 119"-139, which is the perfect range anyway.
No noticeable latency when anchored. Gaming works great! En yes 120hz is amazing, I haven't been able to use it much yet tho. What do you use it for?
The Zelda addiction is real! That's so funny how you bought it twice and play it separately together. XD
Wait so if you hook up with a hdmi to usb c cable then you can’t adjust the screen size??? What’s up with that
Will Rokid be able to catch up? I ask because I bought the Rokid glasses and not the XReal glasses.
The Dlna protection was my reason for backing out. Hopefully they can fix that soon
How to factory reset
Do we need beam to fix screen in one place
Or can we do using phone to fix screen aswell
What's the fov?
Thank You!
Why, oh why are xreal only selling the Beam in the US. I have the Air glasses here in Germany, and would love a Beam if they'd only send it to me...
In their Discord, people say it will be available on Amazon and in Europe in August. So it's not too long. I will definitely pick up one of these.
Nqt
this is definitely something that makes these things actually usable. The only thing is I dont know if I want them at that price point as of now still. I have all the physical displays I could need, only use I could see is when im out and about and want to watch youtube while doing something else. Which is rare. Mostly when im cooking.
Nice. I was waiting for this review. I want to use this to watch anime on a big screen.
Could I use this with my Rokid Air AR Glasses as well
Ive been looking to get the Rokid Max for a month now. I just saw this starting to pop up and im im debating.... mostly gonna use on my Galaxy Fold 4 but i will be using on my Steam Deck & Switch.
What would you recommend and can you charge and play at the same time?
Hi, the XREAL Beam can be used with Z fold, Steamdeck and Switch, which gives you a 3Dof experience. When working with Z fold, you can cast the screen wirelessly by Miracast, and then charge the Beam while playing. But for SD and Switch, there is no official play&charge solution.
Can it be used with other ar glasses?
No, it currently supports the XREAL glasses.🥲
Dope
Does it do 3D? Otherwise not interested
Hi, the XREAL Air glass does support the 3D SBS function, you can use this function while connecting to PC or mobile phone. But the 3D SBS mode is supported on the Beam currently.
I have the Viture glasses with dock and neckband, it works flawlessly with switch and everything else
Do you need an adapter to plug the switch into the neckband or does it just plug in? Does the neckband also have a HDMI in? What ports does it have?
When its plugged in does the switch think that its docked and switches the screen off on the switch?
@@PizzaLord the switch doesn't plug into the neckband it has a separate Dock. The neckband is just like Google tv, but you can add apps and sideload apps into it.
@dwaynemcpherson5379 When you use the neckband to change the size and distance of the screen in the glasses, do the glasses remember the settings?
By default the viture glasses I understand are like a 120 inch screen which is 10 inches smaller than the default of the xreal.
If I used a neckband to up the size of the screen and then unplugged it from the neckband and plugged the glasses into a PC for example, would it remember this setting or go back to a 120 inch screen?

Wait, so they still havent solved the issue with keeping your phone charged while using the glasses for unlimited usage?
Maybe I misunderstood.
Hi, the Beam can be connected to your phone wirelessly, so the Beam and your phone can both be charged while using the glass.🥰
Does it work with rokid max?
Hi, sorry but no, the XREAL Beam can only work with XREAL glasses currently.
Fantastic video.
Very interested in the Xreal glasses.
Can you tell me if it is possible to wireless connect via Beam a Steam Deck to the glasses.
Hello, unfortunately, the Steamdeck does not have native support for Miracast. To connect the Beam to the Steamdeck, we suggest using a C-C cable.
Thank you Cas. Great informative video as always 😀👍. I have a question: My air glasses have the problem with red color being very oversaturated and also the brightness being very dark in games. Does xreal have a fix for this?
That's weird, I don't have these problems. What device are you mirroring and are you certain the glasses are not faulty?
@@CasandChary
Thank you so much for taking the time to replay to this.
I have a Desktop PC (11700K/rtx3080) and Lenovo Legion 5 pro (5800H/rtx3070) and Asus Rog Ally and PS5 and Switch oled and 2xNreal hdmi adapters.
Every device with the glasses has the same oversaturated red color and low brightness (blacks being too black). I can fix this somewhat by lowering red color in nvidia control panel or Amd Adrenalin (Rog Ally) and also turning the brightness up to 100 in games.
I bought my nreal air glasses 2 months after release date before they became xreal and I have the newest firmware installed 2weeks ago.
I've read that some people on reddit and amazon are having the same problems as me.
I never sent them back for RMA because I bought them on Ebay from Japan and it would be a hassle sending them back, so I just waited and hoped for a firmware update to fix this but it never did!.
I'm really considering just buying a new pair of xreal air glasses and selling the old ones because I'm getting really tired of having this problem tbh.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is what Xreal support said yesterday when I talked to them:
@VizioN-Scope
Have they fixed the red color being way oversaturated? and also the brightness being very dark in games?.
Reply
@XREAl_Tech_Support
Hi, the color issue mainly occurs when using the glass with Apple devices, and we have found a solution for this issue. It will be solved by new firmware, currently, it is still under internal testing. After the full test is completed, we will release it.

@VizioN-Scope
Thank so much you for replaying to this.
I do not own any apple devices and both my Lenovo legion 5 pro (5800h - RTX 3070) and Asus Rog Ally with (win11) have these problems.
I also have the newest xreal air firmware installed 2weeks ago.
I truly hope xreal can fix this with the next update because it's the one thing I really dislike about the glasses. If they fix this, then the glasses will be great.
@@VizioN-Scope My xreal arrived 2 days ago and the colours defintely feel over saturated compared to my viture headset.
As my xreals are new, just buying a new one and selling the old one wont fix the problem so best just wait for software update.
@@PizzaLord Okay thank you so much for the heads up!. This is exactly the useful info I need to know about.
Do you also have the problem with the brightness and you barely see anything in dark places in a game? or is just the oversaturated red color you have?
(people's faces look like they have a red sunburn)
I can't believe xreal haven't fix this yet. it's been 1 year since I bought mine and people are still having this problem even with newer glasses.
@@VizioN-Scope Have not really noticed the brightness problem

I'm not sure what you mean but thanks I think 😘
Will you test the rockid station? I am waiting this to make my choice between the two glasses. 2) can I use it to read as second monitor for work
I am going to, in August! Yes, you can but it isn't as sharp as your own monitor. It's usable as long as you use it as a secondary monitor and not the main where you do most of the reading. I've put links in the description for Nebula for Mac and Windows, that software is really good and you don't need the Beam for it
💯‼️💙
Does the beam work with the rokkid glasses? Ty for great vid as always. :D
Sorry but no, the Beam only supports the XREAL glass at present.
Thank you! This is the kind of video im looking for.
Great video follow up to your last video. Question: So if I want to use this with my IPad on a plane, do I need Wi-Fi or does this have Wi-Fi? Thank you again!
Hello, to establish a wireless connection, Wi-Fi is necessary. However, if your iPad is equipped with a USB-C port, you can use a wired connection by using a C-C cable with the Beam.

do these make you nauseous? I noticed that the screen will always be in your face even if you "look away" and I remember LinusTechTips reviewing a similar pair of glasses from another company that he claimed made him sick very quickly.
No, the Beam solves that by pinning the screen in one spot. But full disclosure: the follow mode also doesn't make me nauseous. And I watched that LTT video but I don't think he tried it very long as they kinda "forced him" into reviewing those glasses lol
@@CasandChary cool thanks, the glasses he reviewed used a connection to a phone for them to work so they weren't standalone and i can imagine a phone isn't powerful enough to deliver the comfortable performance
Fantastic video as usual! I remember in one of your previous videos a few months back about the Xreal you mentioned that they might not be ideal for subtitled content. As someone who consumes most media subtitled Im curious if the Beam has made this better, or the Xreal team has pushed a software update to help with that, and what's the experience with subtitles in general. Love your content!!
It helps having the Beam because it's the most blurry in your peripheral vision, but when you can pin the screen it doesn't matter as you can move your head a bit to read the text. The glasses sharpness has not changed tho. A bit hard to explain so I hope you understand!
with this upgrade to the n real would u pick these or the rokid max ar glasses with the 120hz for mainly gaming ?
Hi, our XREAL Air glass can also support 120Hz in 2D mode. To utilize the 120Hz output feature, the glass can be directly connected to a PC or mobile device that supports 120Hz output. Simply press the button on the glass to switch to 120Hz mode.
@@XREAl_Tech_Support thanks for your reply. oh thats good your webiste said its only up to 60hz which is what was holding off a decision on which one to buy
Cas when you anchor the screen and adjust the distance can you read text on games at the bottom and sides of the screen better than with the xreal glasses along?
Yes, it's easier to get the text in the sweet spot since the screen isn't moving anymore
@@CasandChary thanks that what I have been waiting for
How’s the quality? looking to buy this!
Quality is the same as with just the glasses! I recommend watching this comparison video if you want to know more about how the video in the glasses look like: ruclips.net/video/U7XaNyG_PZg/видео.html
Can you use the beam with the xreal light and which would you recommend air + beam or light?
Hi, I recommend XREAL Air + Beam. Because there is only 0Dof(a head-follow image) when the Light works with the Beam.
@@XREAl_Tech_Support so the other advantages of light don't out weigh air + beam?
Hearing how well the display holds up in the bright sun would have been handy. Like in a park on a very sunnny day. Does it get washed out? etc
It will
It is less visible, but you use the included cover in the bright sun and then there's no problem at all. This wasn't a review video for the glasses so I didn't cover this but I talk about video quality in my comparison video of the glasses: ruclips.net/video/U7XaNyG_PZg/видео.html
Do we need Android to update the beam in addition to the glasses
No, the Beam runs on its own
Hi, The Beam has its own Android operating system that runs on a distinct version. It doesn't require other devices to do the update.😄
Does the Xreal Beam with glasses connected support playing Asus Rog Ally at 30W turbo mode?.
I wish I knew, I don't have that device! But it should if it has a USB-C display out like Steam Deck.
@@CasandChary I don't think it will work because Xreal beam only charges at 27W and the beam's usb-c needs to provide 65W (PD) power delivery for Asus Ally's 30W turbo mode to work.
I just wanted to make sure but it's hard for you to know this when you don't own the Ally like you said. Thanks anyway ;)
