I’m just now learning how to play and I appreciate your instruction and teaching technique. My dream is to play Africa on piano for my mom before she passes.

Great stuff. I’ve been watching these type of videos for a while now but really deals with the point from when you know the basic chords to turning this progression it into something that sounds like the real song. Thanks Steve

This is an amazingly clear and practical demonstration of how to build a song from chords into a skilled, fun and interesting version. Truly helpful and understandable. Please keep doing these.

Thank you very much Steve !!!
this is an incredible song which I have always loved but have never really attempted because of it's complexity (at least to me)
Just like with all your other lessons you make it seem so easy and "approachable" and I actually don't sound that bad playing it after watching your tutorial
I have been playing piano on and off for 35 years, (buying video courses books, etc) never really saw much progress until I started watching your videos and purchased your course,
I really believed that piano just was not for me but your course has given me a great sense of confidence and now I am "playing" fairly well (tooting own horn) and loving piano even more
You have made all the difference
    Thank You!!!!

Anyway you could go back and redo NY state of mind in this format? With the virtual keyboard and pedal? Ive watched that original video so many times and it’s hard to get a feel for it and I think with this format it would be much easier to learn. Thanks. Just subbed and liked.

I really appreciate the way you explain everything, hopefully soon I'll have access to a keyboard and looking forward to check out your curse. I believe you are a great teacher, wonderful musician and singer. Love your taste when it comes down to the Billy Joel songs.
Please keep doing what you're doing for us.

Another great tutorial, I'm doing your piano Man approach and every video is helping.
Just don't expect the lyrics to be easy! Anything with Kilimanjaro rises like a Memphis over the Serengeti, has to be a challenge!!
    Love it Steve.
    Keep up the good work.🎹🎹🎶🎶

    Hi Steve,
Would have loved to send you this privately but I think RUclips has removed that feature. Forgive me for airing this in public but please know that it comes from a good place.
I’ll preface this by saying I’ve learned a hell of a lot from your older videos, including I’m Still Standing, Always a Woman and My Life. I really liked the way they were laid out and even though they were quite slow-paced, they are simultaneously accessible to an experienced player as well as a beginner and there is almost no need to rewind. I really like this about your videos, you err on the side of patience when you teach.
I’m afraid I don’t like these newer ones as much because you spend more time on stylistic points than on the actual song itself. You don’t break down the chord voicings that you use and for this particular song there’s almost no explanation of the chords in the chorus and nothing about the solo part, which I’ve had to look for elsewhere. The digital piano representation above what you’re playing is really helpful though.
I know this is your livelihood Steve, so I’m well aware of the fact that what you release for free on RUclips is entirely out of the goodness of your own heart. I do agree with your philosophy that you should always put your own spin on what you learn and have fun doing it, and I really have learned the meat of this song from you. That said, I do think your older tutorial videos are much better and you still got this message across.
I hope you’ll take this in good faith Steve, it comes from a place of huge love and admiration. I do really like your implied philosophy that you learn every song with the intention of performing it! I hope you’ll see this criticism as constructive.
    Much love from the UK,
    Eddie
