I have a theory! Since they showed how Gerald was in prison, Shadow might free him because of Gerald messing with Shadow’s memories (Like SA2) That could be an explanation as to why and how Gerald is alive :)

So here few hints of amy being in the movie. First off, well now we know sonic team got lucky getting out of there themselves. But now we see Tom and Maddie in baking outfits. So the question is, why were they baking so many breads? Don’t forgot the rose robotnik held in his mouth. And that scene with shadow at the window, major hint. People will doubt but I know otherwise 😉.

You have 5 CGI Characters alongside the Bio-Lizard and he alone requires a huge ass money to make and 6 human character with Jim Carrey playing 2 roles at the same time and let's not forget not all the budget went for the movie some of it went for the knuckles series besides even the leaks said she is a post credit scene and her first entry will be in the 4th movie and aside from leakers paramount itself confirmed that one character will be at the end which is her the other one is a small role in the middle this means Metal Sonic since on IMDB he is stated to be a mini boss fight

5 days ago when asked if Amy starts as a cloak figure who followed team Sonic in secret until the black hole where she saved them.
He answered “kinda”.
So yes she does appear halfway but it’s not the way any of us expect.
So new prediction is Amy appears at Tom and Maddie’s house after team sonic escaped and sonic and Amy meet for the first time since childhood and she joins the final battle along with gun and team sonic.
@sidjames9878 I still have my hopes that Amy will be in Sonic Movie 3 and not in post-credits. I don't want any Sonic fan to wait for her to appear in a Sonic movie for another 2 or 3 years. She better be in Sonic Movie 3 and act in the story instead of being in the post-credits for Sonic Movie 4.
