You saw them too?! They pop after watching like one family guy video. I don't watch them because they talk about stuff I already got from both watching the episodes when they aired and the RUclips videos people made doing "the worst/best things" lists over 6 years ago.
While they are bad thumbnails. It does help small channels with good intentions to grow because it’s so simple to make and not so flashy like many thumbnails these days which are bad too.
Now watch them make a video called "top 10 RUclips creators that died too soon" Literally a few days after a well loved CC died. Watch Mojo did this when Technoblade died and even used his face in the the thumbnail and the so long nerds clip right at the beginning of the video. They didn't even wait a week to make clout of his death. I've stayed far away from them since it felt so gross.
Y'know that option called "not interested"? The button you click after you've clicked the 3 dots? That is without a doubt gotta be the most useless feature on YT. I stumbled across the Sweaty Clam channel a few weeks ago and I could tell something was off about the videos. The even weirder thing was the fact that the channel was made way back in 2007, so what was this channel originally?
Was literally just talking to another RUclipsr about a South Park channel that has been getting a bunch of views lately and seems to be using AI to at least partially write their scripts. (Not quite as lazy as these channels, but clearly being run by some big company, since the videos have been super polished from the beginning) I got in contact with one of their editors and learned that these types of channels have entire teams of people from all over the world working on them, that run multiple channels all doing the same thing. This is a huge rabbit hole.

Growing up one of the most fun things about finding new channels talk about shows I liked were how each creator had their own original ideas, style, and humor so knowing that kids now are just watching Watchmojo 2.0 is so annoying bruh
I saw someone mention this in a tweet, but it feels like some channels posting this stuff were definitely hacked. The Real Simpson is especially suspicious. I've seen channels get hacked and randomly begin posting slop like this years later so I guess that's something to be worried about too maybe. Though most people making this stuff are definitely just doing it for the money lol EDIT: To clarify, i'm saying this based on things i saw previously. Some channels in the past would get hacked and end up posting family guy compilations. That's mostly where I'm getting this from! But I don't think all the channels doing this were hacked obviously. Or, maybe instead of being hacked, some people with channels already enrolled in the AdSense partnership program sold their old channels (voluntarily) to AI content farms. Buying a channel already in the program would provide a benefit to the lazy content farm person, as they'd be able to start earning ad revenue from their new videos uploaded onto the channel right away instead of having to wait to reach the subscriber and viewership milestones like a normal RUclipsr starting out.
i remember when some of the first types of these were about spongebobs best and worst episodes and they had really good thumbnail art, but that originality has been grinded into animated tv show: the audiobook.
The tumbnails are probably based on karsten runquist's spongebob's theories with the white background, caracters in the corner and bold text. But those video's are made by someone who actualy put in some time

It is so disappointing. This is why channels like TheRealJims I have a special appreciation for. Taking the time to peel and analyze every detail of an episode to see the best and worst in it. The best thing about these "videos" are the comments within them, cause thats where the actual opinions are.

As Mark stated before, they don't care. It's likely many just play the video in the background and do something else like drawing, gaming, exercise, and menial labor that they don't have a second thought of what they're actually watching (because they're not watching it in the first place).
They are just using the character image to draw in the clicks from curious Family guy, Simpsons, American Dad, South Park, etc fans that are just looking for something to watch during their downtime/bored moments of the day It's no different than the bright colorful thumbnails used by Roblox channels and the (insert name)family channels that draw in kids to get thousands of views a day

I hate those video where you think there's something interesting going to be discussed. Only to found that the video is primarily verbatim retelling of everything that has occurred within that episode. Painfully patting out the runtime in making it painfully obvious that this is algorithm slop.
I've heard less people talk about RUclips as a hobby and more people talk about it as a way to make good passive income. Which makes sense, I guess. I dunno. I just like watching people who care about what they have to say, and I know that if a person cares about what they're talking about they're not brainrot. Probably. Again idk.. just a very... Somebody's been trying to do RUclips for 3 plus years now as a hobby but getting nowhere, every now and then I get people calling me for doing it as a hobby to begin with. People nowadays are stupid. Don't understand that most of their favorite content creators literally started off by doing this as a hobby.
It’s very disheartening to see low effort content farm channels like that blowing up, especially as a small RUclipsr. But the way I see it is that it’s far more valuable to have a smaller audience that likes YOU and your style and personality, then it is to have a bunch of views on videos that are indistinguishable from the next channel over.
As someone who watches Sweaty Clam, I am like 90% sure his scripts aren't AI. His own personality does show through his videos and words. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Sweaty Clam is a person who simply started this trend on accident. All the other channels with that style appeared AFTER he blew up from what I've seen

Sweaty Clam is definitely a real person. You can sense they are still trying to find their style and voice in the videos. Heck go back to LS Mark earliest videos and notice Mark's style change from then to now. Now the other channels popping up like dollar generals are definitely just using A.i and copying Clam's simple thumbnail style (which was actually unique when he started)
The original manga was better, no idea why they changed the setting, character names (Maggie to Stewie?) hell they flipped several character relations around, I'm convinced the studio were more focused on getting their weird ships animated instead... ah you know, being a GOOD adaptation?
It's hard to find passionate creators any more and these content farm videos are just making it harder. And even though I probably have no right to be I am already pretty picky on the kind of content I want to watch and support. (Sorry to say I'm not a big fan of Ice Berg videos or content made in bad faith) and my interests are already pretty niche to begin with. It really just feels like passion is dead on here minus the few gems.

For a while RUclips is constantly recommening me these type of videos. Mostly one channel that does "SpongeBob theory" videos, which all had that exact same bland thumbnail, weird narrator, PNG on white background with constant shake effects, and little to no sense as the videos shown here. I once clicked on one out of a curiosity titled "SpongeBob - The SpongeHenge Theory" or something like that, and it was just a weirdly phrased and oddly detailed recap of the episode of that name, with it ending by saying something like "This show must take place on the planet Neptune, because in this episode it's very windy and Neptune is the windiest planet". Fuckin' sucks.
I think I’m a bit guilty for over describing episodes, an example being my Lois griffin video, but you know… I wasn’t trying to make easy content the point of my video was listing off some of my favourite episodes and I was saying the parts I liked
I genuinely can't stand it when RUclips channels make EVERYTHING move, by throttling, panning and zooming every single element on screen for every second of the video. It's a tactic TheRichest and it's dozens of side-channels use, some even using it as early as 2016 or even earlier. Bonus infuriating points if they use GIFs they found on Google Images as 'reactions' for the narrator.

Very crappy video essays have been a thing for a hot minute. The thumbnail they're using just changed and turned into a meta thing. It's why when I hear a very specific set of words or information that is super redundant and unnecessary to aiding the main point (if they're even capable of doing that much lmfao,) I just immediately click off and enjoy the rest of my day knowing my time wasn't wasted.
It's funny this video came out today becuase I discovered the clam guy last week and got addicted to the format and watched his whole channel and a similar channel in 2 days. Honestly I really enjoyed Clam's videos.

I've heard less people talk about RUclips as a hobby and more people talk about it as a way to make good passive income. Which makes sense, I guess. I dunno. I just like watching people who care about what they have to say, and I know that if a person cares about what they're talking about they're not brainrot. Probably. Again idk.. just a very... Normal thing to happen with something like RUclips.
Somebody's been trying to do RUclips for 3 plus years now as a hobby but getting nowhere, every now and then I get people calling me for doing it as a hobby to begin with. People nowadays are stupid. Don't understand that most of their favorite content creators literally started off by doing this as a hobby.
It’s very disheartening to see low effort content farm channels like that blowing up, especially as a small RUclipsr. But the way I see it is that it’s far more valuable to have a smaller audience that likes YOU and your style and personality, then it is to have a bunch of views on videos that are indistinguishable from the next channel over.

As someone who watches Sweaty Clam, I am like 90% sure his scripts aren't AI. His own personality does show through his videos and words.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Sweaty Clam is a person who simply started this trend on accident. All the other channels with that style appeared AFTER he blew up from what I've seen
there is evidence that shows that sweaty clam's channel was hijacked and turned into this AI slop. his channel was created in 2007 and only now started uploading this content. that is 100% content farm evidence. don't support it, please.
Sweaty Clam is definitely a real person. You can sense they are still trying to find their style and voice in the videos.
Heck go back to LS Mark earliest videos and notice Mark's style change from then to now.
Now the other channels popping up like dollar generals are definitely just using A.i and copying Clam's simple thumbnail style (which was actually unique when he started)

The original manga was better, no idea why they changed the setting, character names (Maggie to Stewie?) hell they flipped several character relations around, I'm convinced the studio were more focused on getting their weird ships animated instead... ah you know, being a GOOD adaptation?

It's hard to find passionate creators any more and these content farm videos are just making it harder. And even though I probably have no right to be I am already pretty picky on the kind of content I want to watch and support. (Sorry to say I'm not a big fan of Ice Berg videos or content made in bad faith) and my interests are already pretty niche to begin with. It really just feels like passion is dead on here minus the few gems.

Honestly I found myself watching a couple of Sweaty Clam’s videos because his tone is so stupidly genuine while talking about Family guy plots that I kinda find him funny. That being said he’s like the Philadelphia McDonalds of video essays.

For a while RUclips is constantly recommening me these type of videos. Mostly one channel that does "SpongeBob theory" videos, which all had that exact same bland thumbnail, weird narrator, PNG on white background with constant shake effects, and little to no sense as the videos shown here.
I once clicked on one out of a curiosity titled "SpongeBob - The SpongeHenge Theory" or something like that, and it was just a weirdly phrased and oddly detailed recap of the episode of that name, with it ending by saying something like "This show must take place on the planet Neptune, because in this episode it's very windy and Neptune is the windiest planet".
Fuckin' sucks.

I think I’m a bit guilty for over describing episodes, an example being my Lois griffin video, but you know… I wasn’t trying to make easy content the point of my video was listing off some of my favourite episodes and I was saying the parts I liked
I genuinely can't stand it when RUclips channels make EVERYTHING move, by throttling, panning and zooming every single element on screen for every second of the video. It's a tactic TheRichest and it's dozens of side-channels use, some even using it as early as 2016 or even earlier. Bonus infuriating points if they use GIFs they found on Google Images as 'reactions' for the narrator.
I like to think this was originally just a way to avoid inane copyright flagging before it started becomnig a meme for the sake of doing it.

I don’t know why, but that thing where some youtubers edit the text to have the captions pop up with only one word at a time gets on my nerves (although if there’s some relatively small, unintrusive captions that cover the full sentence i’m fine)
Look, this video makes sense and all. But man, am I tired of people just saying something is AI. It very well may be so. But you're one google search away from actually verifying it. Seriously, it wouldn't cost you anything to just copy the guy's script and paste it into an AI checker. And it would either reinforce your point, or it would disprove it, in which case, you shouldn't be making it should you?

Very crappy video essays have been a thing for a hot minute. The thumbnail they're using just changed and turned into a meta thing. It's why when I hear a very specific set of words or information that is super redundant and unnecessary to aiding the main point (if they're even capable of doing that much lmfao,) I just immediately click off and enjoy the rest of my day knowing my time wasn't wasted.
I watched this video LITERALLY after one just posted covering the same topic and even using the SAME examples by a channel named NoMad
It's funny this video came out today becuase I discovered the clam guy last week and got addicted to the format and watched his whole channel and a similar channel in 2 days.
Honestly I really enjoyed Clam's videos.
