That unicorn with the purple stripes is an example of great greed when he had to choose between the crown and baby. The baby's death was his punishment. Im not saying that because i hated the unicorns, its just what it seems like.
This is a lesson on what can happen when you selfish. You can replace an object but you can never replace a life once a life is taken you can never get it back and even if you do it is basically not letting their soul rest in piece. Once a life is gone leave it alone so it can sleep in piece. This video taught us another lesson a saying that goes "Always protect someone or something you love, you will never know how precious they are until you loose them."
It's like a metaphor for parents choosing their job or career and then at the end, they realize that they were away for too long, and the child is pretty much distant to them (or even gone to other places).
+THE Winged Artist Very observant =p But once people see the entire animation and know the end, they're quick to judge the father as having abandonned his son. If the Father had the benefit of foresight then the story wouldn't have been half as interesting =p
+DarkmaneTheWerewolf very true! Father huh? well now we know.... I have watched this animation many times in the past, I just love it! I understand you used GIMP for this animation, I have tried to animate with GIMP before and I have no patience for it.... Great work as always! Oh and one more thing, I also like the used of body language as well as expressions. anyways I'm done.... have a great day.
Everything comes with a Price...... The Unicorn's Selfishness took it's Toll for a Crown, which the Only Value found is Surface level. Nothing is More Valuable and Precious then the life of a child.. This Animation reminds us to Appreciate the Gifts we Already have. If we spend All Our Time Longing for "Greener Pastures' our Gifts may be Gone Before We Know It.
family...or riches... choose riches and u may have all the money in the world yet always feel empty... choose family and your heart will always be rich with smiles and forever happiness... ~Queen MeowTigeress
This struck my heart strings. Even though it's a very short animation you can still feel all the emotion and effort put into it and at best I loved it. The decisions made by the characters and the end really got me and I loved it, good job and keep up the good animating.
I think the story is: a pair of unicorns go to the cave of the strom dragon to explore. the mother sees a beutiful crown but when her child slips toward the mighty beast it awakens. enraged by them trespassing on his territory he ties to kill the mother first, the mother survives but she must make a choice: have the crown or her child. she choses the crown and then tries to save her chilid wh is being chased by the mighty dragon. the dragon catches and kills the chilid unicorn but the mother lives, this is a lesson that u put ur chilid first and dont give into greed or it might kill the ones u hold close...
that was amazing but the parent unicorn went for the crown instead of their kid, that was just terrible, I don't think I could live that if I were that unicorns parent.
The mother was choosing, BUT I think she actually hurried to crown and then to her foal. If she would run directly after the foal and not to the crown, I think it wouldn't change much... after all, she's ,,just" an unicorn. Her mistake was that she brought the foal *with* her.
that was good! it tugs at the heart, and tells us that our riches could never be more valuable than a loved one and that you never know the worth of water until the well runs dry.
Love your animations. You are so talented. I know you have improved a ton since this one, but this short is still so impressive to watch. The smooth serpentine movements of the dragon are satisfying to watch. You are also incredible at walk/run cycles. I feel those can be so tricky to pull off well. I also just enjoyed the moral of this even though I feel so sad for the juvenile unicorn at the end.
foolish unicorn!Greedy unicorn!Whats more important your friend,or young one! or a stupid non love unfriendship crown! You let your friend or young one die because over some stupid crown! its your fault to blame! FOOLISH UNCORN! (btw great work with the animation!)
The only thing that bothers me story telling wise is that even when the older looking unicorn realizes its greed, it doesn't even shake the crown off. You'd think it would have been disgusted with itself to disown the thing, but it didn't. It seemed to mourn the smaller unicorn, but it did so with the crown resting atop its head.
The ending is great symbolism, and I think it goes well with how most greedy leaders/rulers also have consequences. You got what you wanted, but it turns out the cost was greater than any value of the object/goal you wished for.
wow i loved that, the way u made the dragon uqiue, the way the unicorn walked like a lion.. everything.. little dissapointed that unicorn chose greed over another life

Let this be a lesson to us all. Like when there is a decision like this one, chose the one that can never be found, made, or replaced by an EXACT equal. (The baby is what im saying should've been picked because it's one of a kind like all of us)
Wow. The bigger unicorn wasn't a very good friend/brother/father to the little one, was he? But this does make me wonder what was so important about that crown. I like the dragon creature's design.
this is amazing, i hope to be as good as you one day!! its incredible and im speechless i dont see why people unlike this 0_o again amazing job :) i cant wait to see more

Hmmm... My daughter.. or the blinking crown?? mmm... i gonna chose the crown and then help my daughter.... *What the Unicorn think* Damn... Yeah... the worst in the whole universe.
I think this teaches us all a valuble lesson. Greed can corrupt the mind, so in the end you end up losing the ones you love, all your treasures turn to rust and you lose everything.
Oh my god, this is amazing. Your drawing style is.. wow. And everything flows together greatly. You have the talent of a professional animator. It also seems like a unique idea, having the unicorn go into a dragon's cave, and everything that happens within that. I also love the style of your dragon. It seems almost like it's an asian type of dragon, which contrasts well with the unicorns. All in all, it's perfect! Aww, I feel so bad for the little unicorn. :( He didn't even want to go in.
Everyone's all mad and sad about the ending, but I'm just amazed this was done in GIMP! I used a bit of gimp but found it reallllly annoying and hard to animate with so I am really impressed :0

When faced with eternal power, there is two choices. Your love for another which gives you happiness, or power, which gives you wealth. Both are tempting but love is worth so much more. The King is a pheasant and the pheasants who love are the rulers.
I love this animation, it showed how the mother wanted a treasure from the dragon's lair, filled with jewels and crowns, but was caught trying to sneak in by the dragon himself. After the baby unicorn was noticed, the mom had tripped & had actually decided to go for her beloved crown instead. In the end, the dragon had killed the baby unicorn viciously & left the remorseful unicorn mother to reap what she sowed; being greedy. A truly sad ending but it was good. :) It teaches a important lesson.
I like it. Its a story telling about greed bringing on regret,NOT just greed. You people are a acting like the unicorn left the smaller one to die then didn't care. But it actually tried to save the smaller one, but it was too late. Then it was regretting its greed. Awesome animation, and a good moral.
Although people are upset about the ending, I still love this. It's a story about choices, and the consequences of your choices, good or bad.
I agree
yep, also, me when I was watching this: WHY DID YOU GO FOR THE CROWN YOU IDIOT?!? XD
I like how in the end, when her foal died, the mother continued to wear the crown, to ever remind her of her folly, and greed.

+Blazing Sugabush No no, what i meant was the adult unicorn was the father, not mother. The rest makes sense
+CrystalWolf1321 oh ok
Umm, grammar plz?
I liked it, but what is the symbolism of the crown the unicorn is wearing?
I'm pretty sure it symbolizes greed
symbolizes that even though he got what he wanted, in the end the cost was greater than the value of the object itself.
that was amazing but the parent unicorn went for the crown instead of their kid, that was just terrible, I don't think I could live that if I were that unicorns parent.
