I don't know if you remember me but we briefly met in a hostel in Istanbul roughly two years ago; We talked a bit and you recommended me your RUclips Channel.
Interstingly our content is now super helpful because as it turns out I am in quite a similar situation being now in a relationship with a Turkish girl (sadly also cross border long distance and not in person :/ + I have been in Korea for this semester so there is also the challenge of time zones .... ).

Haha of course I remember you!! From Germany! I can’t believe you’re with a Turkish girl! How’s it going? Did you meet her that time at cheers? Glad the content is helpful, I probs will do more stuff on long distance and relationships just because it is so hard and don’t think there’s enough help out there for it!!! Good to hear from you 😁

We met last Summer while she was doing an internship in Munich. We had a great time together and both really wanted a relationship but the whole long distance thing initially made us decide against it. A few weeks after physical separation we read up on long distance (incl. your videos ) and then went with it anyway. Sometimes it’s a little hard but I’m really looking forward to going to Ankara in January and February :)
Also she will do a internship in Munich in the summer again so it’s not as bad as it seems. We might not see each other for longer periods of time but the time we do see each other is a lot more intense than regular relationships.
What also really helped is that she wants to move to Germany when she is done with med school (for residency); that gives it a goal/end date. Without that I probably wouldn’t have went with it.
Are you or your bf planing to move in together to one of the two countries?

@@m4d_al3x wow sounds great, I'm glad you decided to give it a try! I think there lies more regret in not trying. Its good she's doing the internship in Munich, me and my boyfriend did similar where we spent about 3-4 months in each other's countries just to get used to it/spend a long amount of time with each other and that time is SO nice! Because it is just less intense as you said. This year we are just visiting each other as I am also at med school and he is working, but yeah the intention is for him to move here somehow, maybe to come and do a masters next year once he saves enough money from working :) I've got another 3.5 years at medical school so I'm stuck here unfortunately for the time being!!

Is it easy for her to move to Germany?

She‘s also in med school and has around 1.5 years left. Her plan (which she btw had before we even met) was to finish med school in turkey and then go to Germany(or other eu-country) and do her residency there. I think it should be fairly easy to get a student visa in Germany as a doctor. She’s also learning German but knowing English + Turkish in Munich basically means being able to communicate with everyone.
Also Munich coincidentally has a lot of internships/research which are interesting for her (psychiatry/neuro-stuff). For me being in Management/CS it’s also fairly easy to learn/work remote.
I 100% agree on the regretting not trying it thing. If I didn’t go with it, I would have regretted it soooooo much.
We calculated it and actually if we have these intense periods of seeing each other and then not seeing, on average on a yearly basis we get roughly the same amount of time together as any couple (assuming a average couple sees each other twice a week).
What does your bf do, maybe he can try to get a job in the uk?
In Germany nowadays it’s fairly easy to get a job as a foreigner because a lot of companies can’t hire enough people.
