This is very helpful for new players! I studied game tech at uni so may be able to shine light on this for anyone who isn't programming savvy. I can say with a lot of certainty it's likely 255 items you need to collect before things reset. The reason will likely be a limitation on the list that tracks the items you've collected, chances are it uses a 1 byte unsigned char variable to track the list's size (which has a maximum value of 255 before overflowing), and when reaching the maximum capacity of the list the game has been coded to overwrite the existing items in the list to prevent errors. Hope this helps!
A lot of games use this number. Some are funny because there are unintentional things that can happen like sudden hostility of characters or spawned enemies.
You know, I was thinking the same thing. It just has to be 255. The number 270 did not make any sense. 270 does not mean anything to a program. Great explanation.
Object amount to reset everything is 255. One container = 1 object regardless of what's in it. There's more than 255 books in that house so you're golden. So if you're hunting asylum outfits and grab all 3, then go grab the books and they'll respawn. If you're going around collecting sugar bombs from around the world, then go grab the books. etc etc etc... The White Spring golf course clubhouse also has a ton of stuff in it, the frat house in morgantown, the asylum itself has a ton of stuff...a couple more examples if you haven't reset the books yet because after you pick up the books, you'll need to pick up 255 items again to respawn them all. Solid advice in this video that works with whatever you're out trying to collect.
@@Imjustsaint I haven't found any good outfits in at least a year at this point, admittingly I don't do the 20-25 server hops there anymore, but if I do like 5 or so I'll inevitably come across a blue or brown. Not that those are worth anything or even noteworthy if you already have them. Plus you can just buy those at a player vendor for a couple thousand caps anyway.
Ayo resetting the reset has been my issue since my stash has been getting kinda and ive been needing cloth gonna try these other locations thanks for the heads up.
Same here! Took a long long break from this game, and coming back to all the new stuff the game has its hard catching up. Videos like these is what makes it easy to cath up with Games after a long break. Thank you for making the time to help others!!! Much appreciated!
Nice video, everything you said was spot on. I alternate between whitesprings and summersville to keep both locations reset. Something semi-related, which you may already know, if you teleport to Gauley Mine Exit and walk down to the bridge, you can follow that road west/south all the way back down to the house south of Slocums Joe. There are many firecaps and starlight berries, along with a bunch of snaptails. They are on both sides of the road out to about 150 feet and also in the creek. That route is even better than the deep, Black Mountain Ordinance, etc. Big Maw for hundreds of Brain Fungus. Hope you find that info useful.
@@GabeHeron There are 12 at Black Mountain Ordinance proper (around 4 more if you go all the way south to point pleasant) but more than 40 plants in the area that I referenced plus 28 individual firecaps. I just ran it to verify.
The best source of lead for ammo is NOT lucky hole mine. The best source is can chimes, no acid needed to be farmed, comes with 2 steel per can which is the same ratio as most bullets, and they respawn with every server hop. The places where the most can chimes are you can run through grab them and not use a single bullet, you have to use ammo in lucky hole mine. Easy 54 lead in less than 2 minutes is Top of the world. Start at the train station spawn turn right looking toward where Rose is, run and jump up the ledge, turn towards the corner of the outdoor sitting area and jump over the wood wreckage and up onto the eating area. Then straight to the front entry and grab the can chimes, turn right and run towards the wood defense structure where the flame traps are is 3 more can chimes above the traps, jump and grab them. Then run up the road towards the cabins and in the room below where the pool table is and next to the outdoor eating area is 3 more chimes. Turn around after grabbing them and run back to the train station. Exit server and repeat. The server hop takes longer than collecting them and it's only scorched so they are an annoyance rather than dangerous. There is about 100 lead total if you include all the other sources in that area that would be good to memorize for the first run through. But a good tip is just memorize the few items that contain lead and grab them as you go, see a pencil pick it up. If you repeat locations you will start to remember where the items sit and not even think about picking up that rat poison and can when you pass through... even get to the point that you don't know where it all came from when you go to scrap and store for inventory management. I have never done Lucky Hole mine for lead, never needed to and my stealth commando has 20k of both .45 and 5.56 rounds average, my heavy gunner has 50-80k .50 and routinely over 100k 5mm, my shotgun and rifleman characters sells lead. And only doing runs for can chimes and other lead once a week at most.
Thank you for this guide. This is very helpful as I do craft many of things you mentioned in the periods I play the game. Having them respawn after you pick up 255 (some comments) to 270 (your voiceover) will be so helpful!

I run Photo Opportunity and Tasty Test everyday and the junk at the Overseers house and Big Al’s Tattoo Parlor go a long way to the 270. Plus I’ll make a run by Braxon’s Quality Medical Supplies, which I used to a lot because I had a camp nearby. And I always run Stings and Things and Dolly Sods has a good amount of junk. Between those, and just picking up junk wherever, I’m pretty much always resetting. There was another one that I ran into recently that had an easy to collect 100+ junk items, I meant to remember it but I apparently I forgot to do that. But Summersville is the best to force a reset, but I rarely use it since I can reset just by doing my standard run for dailies.
I wonder if it's possible for another person to reset the lobby while you're in it. Would things just appear out of nowhere? Btw I just adore how calm your voice is. This video is truly helpful. I wish it worked with creature spawns. I'm always hunting for squirrels xD
Pretty sure but not 100% that it only works if you are crouching while they log in. Crouching removes you from the map, allowing the items to respawn when your buddy comes into that area. Angry Turtle did a video about this a few years ago. It only works on whatever area you are in, not the whole map.
For creatures you have to wait about 10-15 minutes outside the area. If another player is in that place, you have to wait further. I don't know if the timer starts again and it may not work with every creature.
Good video for players that are chronic looters like myself. 🤑 Having Fallout 1st and being an obsessive hoarder keeps my items respawning somewhat regularly. Only thing that starts to weigh me down are grenades and aid if I run out of caps with the vendor limit. I try to drop the extras in the red trunk at Nuka World, trash can outside the crafting area of White Spring, or randomly at player camps if I am camp hopping. Just recently cleared out about 50 weight of junk from my stash I was collecting "because". Now to start putting up bobbleheads/magazines for sell. Still trying to sell through all the plasma cores I have hoarded and I don't even use a gatling plasma. 🤣 I think I got up to 100 disease cures one day just running around looting after I had finished the dailies and looking for events. That and radiation shields as Rad X suppresses mutations. Also like making tons of healing salve and dropping them randomly around the Wayward. Drop all the random known crafting plans a newbie camps if they are there.
Works like a charm. I just did this to try and reset the weights at the Greenwood Motel because I ran out of lead to make ammo. I can now shoot things again!
@@MrWestTek BTW Garrahan estate is a good place to reset the books (I just realised they need to be reset themselves lol). Take the elevator straight to the top floor. There is a bunch of stuff in the kitchen and in the very top floor where the beer pong looking table is :)
Hi. Love your channel. You might mention that someone high level, who has already learned all the plans and all the gold bullion plans, learned all the recipes including mutation serums, doesn't have much use for caps, so buying in bulk from vendors is one of the few outlets for spending them. I find buying in bulk much more time-efficient than mining lead or steel. And with most ammo, now, enemies drop enough so that you don't have to craft it, anyway. The information you compiled is clearly presented and useful. Thank you. I wish Bethesda would implement a new "Hoover" function... just pick up everything within a certain radius!
Hey hey MrWesttek haven't had time to be on due to life but I'm getting some more free time soon very helpful video berry mentats are annoying to craft and this helps a ton 👍
This makes sense from a game dev perspective. Maintain a sense of realism and stem item farming with a single FIFO array, 256 in length (instead of a giant array of every in-game object). Funny how devs create features to slow down progression and players find ways around it.
Homestead farm(over by vault 51) has a decent amount of cranberries there. The place that has the event called moonshine jambree has a bunch of tin cans. Those cans when scrapped have a decent amount of lead.
I use this to collect the cloth to bulk and sell at the vendors everyday. Summersville is the easiest to do, but I like Whitesprings for the extra XP. Sleep and then pop a mentats and a race track buff and head into the golf course with a 22 intelligence with a extra five percent XP. Loads of fun.
While brain fungus is abundant, it's those sugar bombs for me that are the hardest and most time consuming item to farm if you use brain bombs. I would like to see what routes and places you farm for those as it's a daily endeavor for me. As it is ther are about 6 locations I know of that are guaranteed to have brain bombs and not random food which are at the top of flatwoods church and roof of the red rocket, the new river gorge bridge west behind a locked door, the summerville dam in a boat thats broke in half, in the kitchen in overlook cabin, harpers ferry in the fenced off area and in the bathtub in the shack northwest of mosstown. If lucky you can get up to 19 in those locations if they all spawn.
Take the Sunshine Meadows food factory, just north of Hillbilly Hotdogs. Power up the food machine, and set it to produce Sugar Bombs. Then wait, defending the place on occasion.
@@DeaconBlues117 you have to take all those sugar bombs you collect at sunshine meadows to a nuke zone as there not radiated bombs. so you need to collect them and wait in a nuke zone when the nuke hits to radiate them :) no im just kidding dont do that lol those at sunshine are no good as said by lordironhidex .
@@MrWestTek What do you mean by a rare one? Does it do the same thing as a regular disease cure, or something else? If so, I wonder what makes it so valuable? Thanks for the response mate.
A good route is get your items you want to respawn, go grab books and junk at Summerville. Server hop. Go grab your items, port to Whitespring, grab all the junk you can find. Port to West Tek and loot the front outside. Server hop and grab your items. Then You can just repeat the process over and over until you're bored to tears or have what you need lol.
Very helpful thanks! I just hope one day Bethesda will come around and set up an Asian server or relay server, cuz I can’t do nothing with no lags/ping in this game due to physical distance from mainland China to the server, the best I can do is to play in private server to feel slight of lag-free. I tried switching DNS and none works well, any suggestions on that Mr W?
Just put on the wood perk card under luck and go to the wood cutting camp on the right side of the map. Something and Sons. You will reach that count goal in one place.
does it work with chainsaws ? i'm trying to get a specific legendary roll for my build without any luck so far and there's only 5 chainsaw spawns that i know of and they don't re-spawn often .
Not sure if this still works but it used to work with collecting dirty water, but could sometimes be buggy so not sure if it was intended to count! Could use an autoclicker to click 280 times on collect water
Seems like everyone did this video this week. I've seen that this is the only place with 250 in one spot but honestly this place, Morgantown highschool, and if you do all the hotel rooms, golf club and shops outside the whitespring. All these places have plenty of items laying out you can just reset over and over again and again and again. If you have a private server log off to a adventure server or just jump off for like 5 or 10 mins then jump back on your server. If it says "building world" then your good you will "hope servers" while staying in private.
Nope! Just make sure you follow the video very closely. Make sure you are leaving servers after you pick up the books and going to a new one. Everything should be reset :)
@@MrWestTek oh I’ve done it hundreds of times ! I was just noticing on a recent run through there - that the layout of things was different inside the house and the mirelurks were missing - which I’ve never seen ever. I didn’t have a chance to run it again yet but thought I’d ask you anyhow. Thanks 🙏🏽
I heard you just need go pick up 250 random items off the ground then server hop everything will reset in the next one. Helps if you have strength 15 with armor deep pockets and legendary item weight reductions along with food carry weight boosts and carry weight drink from atom shop.
Good info, I have a stupid goal I set for myself. I want to own all the plans... That's right, ALL the plans. My method of going about this is selling serums and chems out of my vendor. People are frickin' insane for Berry Mentats. I sell tons of berry mentats. So I do a lot of roaming the forest for ingredient's. I won't say where because I know all the hot spots and I want people to buy my berry mentats and not make their own! lol.
I'm seeing some videos o. Fallout 76 where damage numbers are funny. With shotguns, some of people's videos have a pump doing a listed 238 straight damage. As mine sits now, it's broken into pellets at 21x8. What gives? And thanks for the videos man
You don't need to scrap them, I usually leave them near the front door, to let other players know that the house has already been looted..so they don't have to kill the 5-6 Mirelurks needlessly. You COULD scrap them, if you need that much cloth, have the storage space (a SCRAP Box vs Stash Box) and you'll need to have 250+ lbs of extra carry weight to Fast Travel or face a S-L-O-W walk to a scrap bench ... you could probably use a Scrap Kit? If available I do this in a private world.. to be considerate to those now 20,000 new players that have seen this video.
It works, but you can't just hop off and back on. You have to exit the server and wait 5-10 minutes before logging back in to your private server. This allows the private server time to time out so that you can log into a different one.
Yes, that should work with it too. But I mean that the chance that the uniform appears has a lower probability than normal items that always appear. If the uniform appears, it can also be a worse or better uniform than before.
Completely off topic. Please help me. I am lost as to how to fix this. I have purchased the SS jet pack plans twice and it refuses to show up when at the work station. Underarmor also refuses to be seen other than known plans. I am not seeing them when I go to make them. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to fix this? I’m so fucing frustrated. I’m at 150 so not a newbie but lost how to repair?
Are you sure you learned the plan, seeing how you bought it twice? Click it in your inventory. Are you sure you're applying it to a Secret Service Chest Piece in the second slot (you'll lose mods like Dense)? Worst case scenario, try crafting a new SS chest piece and see if the Jetpack will apply on it.
@@prince_julius Yes im sure was charged 4K. I think the reason for not showing up the first time was I bought it before I bought the Torso , Anyway THANKS for your help I now have the jet pack. Can you think of tell me what im doing wrong with my underarmor issue.? The commish set is setting in known plans but I am unable to make. Are they attached to another piece like the jet pack?
They're annoying, my solution one Nuka Grenade aimed at the front right exterior of the house (as your facing it), though you should have Grenadier 2 and Demolition 4-5? ..it might work with less..but I run those perks normally. The grenade usually doesn't mess up the interior to bad or seemingly at all.

Homestead farm(over by vault 51) has a decent amount of cranberries there. The place that has the event called moonshine jambree has a bunch of tin cans. Those cans when scrapped have a decent amount of lead.
Worked like a charm. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for the comment buddy!
This is amazing Thank you for the info always got the content we need
No problem! Thanks for the nice comment, really appreciate it :)
Thanks bud! As usual. Very helpful video!
No problem! Thanks for watching buddy ;)
@@DeaconBlues117produced sugar bombs won't work for Brain bombs
@@DeaconBlues117 you have to take all those sugar bombs you collect at sunshine meadows to a nuke zone as there not radiated bombs. so you need to collect them and wait in a nuke zone when the nuke hits to radiate them :) no im just kidding dont do that lol those at sunshine are no good as said by lordironhidex .
@@lordironhidex Really? Well, that sucks. I'd have thought the radioactive fungus would have been enough, but I guess not.
@@falloutseventysix4096 seriously though you should be able to drop them in a nuke zone to irradiate them.
Predicting this is going burnt books. Great tip.
So the lesson learned here is: In Fallout 76 you have to become a bookworm, in order to be able to collect more stuff, than usually.
It's the nature of the beast.
im not to sure u mentioned it but u can do this with the asylum dresses so you dont have to wait a day if you pick up a asylum dress
This is nice, what a great helpful video!
Thanks for the nice comment buddy :)
An unrelated question, but regarding disease cures, what do you think is a reasonable price to sell them for in your vendor?
They don't sell for much to be honest, but there is one rare one, not sure which one. But it sells for a lot.
@@MrWestTek
What do you mean by a rare one? Does it do the same thing as a regular disease cure, or something else? If so, I wonder what makes it so valuable? Thanks for the response mate.
Thank you very much! I always wondered why it could be days since I picked cranberries and it still wouldn't let me pick.
I use to wonder the same, glad I could help ;)
Dude, that is so awesome. Nice tip!
Glad you liked it!
I believe the number 255 has something to do with a buffer size which is 0 to 255 or basically 256 items before the buffer resets
BTW you can get disease cure at the fountain at the Whitesprings resort as many times as you need for any disease currently carried.
Golden question is, will it also respawn plans?
Very helpful thanks! I just hope one day Bethesda will come around and set up an Asian server or relay server, cuz I can’t do nothing with no lags/ping in this game due to physical distance from mainland China to the server, the best I can do is to play in private server to feel slight of lag-free. I tried switching DNS and none works well, any suggestions on that Mr W?
I'm not very technical savy my friend, I wish i could help but i just don't know :(
Does this still work using dirty water as the random item
After you pick up the books to reset loot, do the books reset also?
Does this also affect the weapons lying about like the potential gauss rifle at mining outpost 4?
this is amazing, thank you so much!
No problem 😊
Wow, great to know, after all these years of playing, lol
Very glad I could bring it to your attention :)
Just put on the wood perk card under luck and go to the wood cutting camp on the right side of the map. Something and Sons. You will reach that count goal in one place.
kept walking up to unopened Ammo Boxes and Duffel Bags with nothing in them. thank you
does it work with chainsaws ? i'm trying to get a specific legendary roll for my build without any luck so far and there's only 5 chainsaw spawns that i know of and they don't re-spawn often .
Not sure if this still works but it used to work with collecting dirty water, but could sometimes be buggy so not sure if it was intended to count! Could use an autoclicker to click 280 times on collect water
Dirty water hasn't worked in a while.
How do you reset the " Out of the blue" quest? I ran out of ammo, went back to my camp and now Ares isnt there to open the secret passage.
If it says "building world" then your good you will "hope servers" while staying in private.
hello Sir! has this been changed since the newest patch ? thanks for all the great videos!
Thanks 🙏🏽
So this would work with fort defiance outfits?
Starlight berry's are a pain of non there when you go, I use them for company tea
does this work for stuff like bobbleheads and magazines??
I heard you just need go pick up 250 random items off the ground then server hop everything will reset in the next one. Helps if you have strength 15 with armor deep pockets and legendary item weight reductions along with food carry weight boosts and carry weight drink from atom shop.
You can also collect 255 dirty water, I sed to do it with the mag glitch so it would reset
I think they patched that out.
Question: does 270 items work if you "pick up all" say for example at Radiation Rumble"? I have noticed i can loot a ton of corpses and it not reset.
Does work with dailys?
Is there a way to reset wightspring mall vendors?
dore this work with technical data ? Im farming the T-60 paints
Can you do this with fusion cores?
Does it reset desk stuff like tech data
Bloody Franks at Berkeley Springs has a ton of plates. Like a ton of them. I never counted though.
What gives? And thanks for the videos man
I'm lazy so I just make brain fungus soup...almost as good lol. Is the server hop reset just as quick in private worlds...?
Dose that include containers like ammo cases or duffel bags
No.
@@MrWestTek darn
Does this work for caps stashes?
Does this work with collecting water like from the river will that trigger a reset?
It use to apparently, but not anymore.
I’m rendering this will go perfect with mine, gonna link hope u don’t mind!
Once you get the books do you scrap them?
You don't need to scrap them, I usually leave them near the front door, to let other players know that the house has already been looted..so they don't have to kill the 5-6 Mirelurks needlessly. You COULD scrap them, if you need that much cloth, have the storage space (a SCRAP Box vs Stash Box) and you'll need to have 250+ lbs of extra carry weight to Fast Travel or face a S-L-O-W walk to a scrap bench ... you could probably use a Scrap Kit? If available I do this in a private world.. to be considerate to those now 20,000 new players that have seen this video.
here i was thinking every server i went to someone beat me to the dumbells i was like no way every server
Thanks for the information!
Any time!
Hey, I saw you in game yesterday! But unfortunately you dropped off the server before was able to say hello.
Maybe next time we can play a little bit :)
It's 255. It's been 255 items for a very long time. You are correct in that house is the reset house lol
Im a new player and was wondering if resetting on a private server is the same as resetting on adventure servers? Thank you
yes it does.
Yes sir
I do that when I look for bobbleheads and magazines
Chems for me :)
The amount is 255 items after the last item you want to respawn ;)
Thanks for the info :)
How does this work with private servers? I've noticed that even after doing the Somerville House item reset, it doesn't seem to really work?
It works, but you can't just hop off and back on. You have to exit the server and wait 5-10 minutes before logging back in to your private server. This allows the private server time to time out so that you can log into a different one.
If you pick up the books on a private, you have to reset your private. You can do this by staying out of it for about 5min.
does this reset the Asylum worker uniform?
I'm about 99% sure it does.
@@michaelarnold2294 Underarmor is under Apparel, not Armor. A bit confusing. :)
Is there any other location? Mirelurks creep me tf out I aint going anywhere near that place
Is it just me or is damage resist completely bugged rn like everything does insane damage especially fire and melee damage

It's comes standard as a legendary. But you can reroll the effects as well :)
