Thanks, It's so difficult fo me understand what are they saying, I try don't read the subtitles but sometimes they talk so fast, I am learning English.
I do enjoy this miniseries and yes the subtitles do help (British English accent can be difficult) it can be difficult to learn another language but with this video series you are on your way love and blessings are sent your way
The man in the clip (John Thornton) resides in the north (a town called Milton) and the woman (Margaret Hale) has moved from her southern town to the north where John is hence the title of this series is called North and South. They are quite different from one another, really polar opposites (pun intended). But eventually, after a lot of mishaps and misunderstandings they fall in love.
In fact, there is another miniseries called North and South (1985) about the civil war in the USA, starring Patrick Swayze. The saga tells the story of the enduring friendship between Orry Main of South Carolina (Patrick Swayze) and George Hazard of Pennsylvania (James Read), who become best friends while attending the United States Military Academy at West Point but later find themselves and their families on opposite sides of the war. But this miniseries is about the social novel published in 1854 by English writer Elizabeth Gaskell, North&South.
@@mczel74gt Yes, I remember watching that years ago. Didn't know England also used those terms. I would love to see this & now have a huge crush on Richard Armitage.

I had only seen short clips of this and had thought it was about the U.S. Civil War , obviously not, so what does the title come from?
