I think it was (unconventionally) appropriate to take us along to the cemetery, since people all over the world are helping to care for Lalande , each in our own small way. Maybe not how the family would have wanted, but in a way no one could have ever predicted ❤ thanks Stephanie, for including us in this respectful cemetery visit ❤

My dear Stephanie thank you for sharing the cemetery with us and the history of the family who owned , loved, and lived in the château. A beautiful place of peace and rest.
I lost my 97 year old mum last week of Feb. I live on the west coast and she and my brother live on the Atlantic side of Florida. She was remarkable like your mum, was able to live in her own home, taking care of all her needs herself, my brother in a community not far away. The end was peaceful and she was at my brothers when she took her final breath. You spoke so respectfully of that wonderful family.
I’m so glad you were able to continue knowing them and how they would be so pleased with how you’ve been taking care of this lovely chateau. I’ve had a bit of a cry watching you here this evening.
What a busy day you had. Well done on cleaning, sorting tossing… loved the table as usual and Marie did a wonderful job in dinner.

I don’t think so, in my hometown in Italy there’s a big family tomb on a hill overlooking the city. It’s called the dog’s tomb that’s because under Napoleon’s rule they changed the laws and made it illegal for people to be buried outside cemeteries so since the family already built it, they decided to bury their dog there. Stephanie said “the 19th century boy” so these laws might have already been in place then.

The last of my clearing and condencing down has arrived with several shoe boxes full of old family photo's and letters written by my two late sisters, aunties and uncles and cousins who are sadly no longer with us. I am having a hard time just doing 10 - 15 minutes every so often as it's so emotional so I will plough on a bit at a time. You encouraged me to go through all my material and fabric, china and glassware, knitting wool etc. Clothes were never ending for me so I will persevere, maybe slowly. Thank you Stephanie fir your encouragement over the years watching your vlogs. 💕🇦🇺

The botanical pictures would be great in a double sided glass frame, giving you the option to turn them round to show the picture on the other side as and when. So good to clear clutter. A clutter free room is a clutter free mind! Good luck!

Maybe you’ll reupholster those chairs and use them at times with the matching table setting… just so they won’t feel lonely sitting in the attic.

I'm not sure that is possible because the child's burial could not wait until the chapel is finished (unless the child was given a temporary resting place and later moved) Also why wouldn't there have been a plaque or something in the child's memory in the chapel?

I meant to say before that it is a good idea to have a slecial memory box or scrap ook for say all the wallpaper finds. Also making digital copies, easy to keep for future reference. The same of course for family memorabilia.

Such a nostalgic and moving vlog today Stephanie - thank you so much for sharing special memories with us your fans - it helps me, for one, to go to those silent places within and feel again the beauty and love that once was 🥰 Morbid? No , I think not - cemeteries are also places of history 😁

Thank you for taking us with to the family tomb of La Lande I understand more of the family who owned the chateau and do you think the young boy could be buried in the chapel? I wonder. Have a lovely day.

Stephanie, I think you should consider that diary from your first year at the Château as part of the château history. Maybe place it in the library once you get that established. I think it’s a good keep.

Well done Stephanie for your summer clean up. Tackle one bit at a time and it will soon be done. I agree with others, your family history is important, so keep those diaries and photos. Putting them all together in an organised way makes for easy access when you need them. Also, photo albums are no longer common, which is bonkers because so many people keep their photos on phones and then lose the phone. You can't always access them from the cloud thingy.🙂
