Conley, you did a great job of explaining the difference between a striper and a picker. You explained it pretty much the same way it was told to me 50+ years ago in NE Gaines Co. And yes to a previous post where would we be without the American Farmer growing our food and fiber. 👍🇺🇸👆🇺🇲
Have ve you thought running both? Take the picker through first and make two or three passes then run the stripper for a less than desirable bonus . If possible and feasible.

Yea in the end after I uploaded the video we did have the neighbors picker help us out a little. And it did do a good job it just left as much on the bottom of the plant as the strippers did on the plant. It just didn’t have a problem with clogging the header
Loved your video on the picker and stripper. I am just now getting started in cotton. Before I start, I will be doing organic cotton and wanted to check with you to see what type of cotton is best to grow for that and should I use a picker or striper for it? Please advise? Thank you!

BUT, he has access to a stripper if the situation calls for it. There was some dryland cotton down the road from me that probably made 2 bales but it looked like he left another 1/2 bale in the field. (SW OK) The humidity has definitely caused problems in harvest. But unirrigated corn, cotton, peanuts.... are really turning a profit.....THIS year....lol😏😝.
Good video on a subject that’s foreign to a lot of folks! Well explained! We don’t see many strippers at all in the southeast. We run 2 CP 690 machines here in Alabama. I’ve been fooling with cotton for about 50 years, and never run a stripper! I really enjoy your videos, you do a great job!
Hello mate! I really liked your videos with the cotton stripper! I am from Greece and also a cotton farmer. I listened to you saying bales per acre and i was wondering about your yields. Could you please tell me what is your lowest and what is your highest yields? Also how much does a bale weight? Do you mean bale after ginning? Thanks in advance!
Our yield all depends on how much water we have our highest yield has been 6 bale per acre and our lowest has been .8 bales per acre. One bale/ginned bale weighs 500 pounds. One round bale that comes out the stripper weighs average 4,400 pounds
Humidity is a huge factor as well. West Texas high plains cotton fields don’t have the humidity that we have in the Mississippi Delta. Strippers don’t perform as well in high humidity and pickers don’t do as well in low humidity.
Was thinking @ cotton strippers/ Pickers was thinking if could put an vacuum in between the rows could such an devise be practical with wire brush as an kicker get more cotton or does the machines have these on them "was terrible job!"
Maybe you could get more cotton but it would be very dirty cotton anything the machine drops or fails to pick up, going over a second time usually isn’t worth it
How often do you have to rebuild the gin behind the cab of a stripper? And what all is involved in doing so? Ive seen a few strippers in my time, but they were all on a stage..... 😂

Well I’m our area with short stubby dry land cotton you need a stripper, so they won’t be getting rid of them anytime soon

Majority of our area does require a stripper. Everyone at least has one, pickers aren’t that common around here but people still use them
First yes on live stream, next if you had a chose picker of stripper one or the other wich would you choose
Probably a picker. Yea it is maybe a bit more maintenance because you need water and grease but there’s less chance of fires starting

😅Maybe once a year, we replace saws and brushes. But throughout the year we’ll replace broken saws
