"in this rare case, we actually want the brush stroke to show up well". This is a marvelous tip ! Thanks a lot !!!! I'm busy painting Cadence, a zombicide character. She has a boar skin cape that is not textured. And it will look great thanks to your advice.
Very nice - I personally use thicker paint when painting larger scale weapons with wood furniture (rifles like Kar98k for example), and if the paint is thick enough, it can even take a drybrush when dried. Thicker paint can actually be seen as kind of a sculpting medium for adding details - too shallow buttons for example can be enhanced with a blob of thick paint, making them stand out a little better.
Great video as usual! The colors look a bit acid yellowish to me. After seeing your Soviet infantry both on photos and video I suppose, maybe some kind of post-processing issue takes place?
Hey Doc, I have a question, and I'm sorry if you've answered it in a previous video/comment section. Which material are these? I'm guessing either the plastic or premium plastic?
Hmmm... You tell. People to lool up animals before painting.... Wolves have a completely white lower yaw not yellowish. Also the top of the back legs from behind is white and in generals they are way more grey and besides a wey light yellowbraown (like your painted legs) they are mostly yellow/white/grey but mot dark brown at all. And I got one lying 4m besides me so I know exactly how European wolves look 😉
Do you have any plans to do painting tutorials on 3D printed models or already have? I've been struggling with painting the ones I've been printing and can't really find any good tutorials that work.
"in this case we want the brush strokes to show up" finally a field in which I am an expert on :((
i love the doggo eyebrows lol i've got a bunch of animal minis to paint soon
Love it! Thanks again for a great video.
Hell yeah! Just in time for my just primed wolf. Gonna have to watch this through again once I'm able to paint it. Cheers!
Another hugely useful vid', thank you. I will be trying that palette and technique for the wolf very soon.

Could you please do a skin tutorial on a bigger scale like 1/16? It would be very helpful .Thank you.
Do you over coat with mat varnish to protect the paint job or do you prefer letting the paint natural but take a risk to have scales in time?
Always Vallejo matt varnish.

I think these HeroForge minis he's been painting are technically 3D printed.
