I watched an Israeli created documentary posted on YT called, "The Gaza Ghetto Uprising". He compared 10/7 to the "Sobibor" and Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, with Sobibor being more close to the 10/7 event.
I thought this documentary was full of info, especially helpful to share with the less informed. For those like me that have a better understanding of what was going on prior to 10/7, it was still helpful because he spent more time focusing on the resistance. He broke down the factions, the various tactics employed by resistance fighters and Israel's ineffective counterinsurgency doctrines.
I hadn't heard of the movie "Sobibor" until I watched this documentary. I thought it was a fairly good analogy. Since then, I've been referring to 10/7 as the Palestinian Sobibor.

How about shootings the unarmed civilians on their own territory, women, children, the disabled in their wheelchairs, during the peaceful March of Return?
If you're familiar with Haruki Murakami you possibly heard or read his speech in Jerusalem, in which he said that "where there's an all powerful wall and an egg smashing against it, no matter how right the wall and how wrong the egg, I will always stand with the egg".
Similarly, as Marek Edelman had said, "To be a Jew is to stand with the oppressed, never the oppressors".

You're correct. It's preposterous to think that based on a "3000 year old" mythology that "Palestine is Israel's 'homeland'" is more righteous than Palestinians' right to their own property owned and operated for generations before 1947. If we're to buy into that, we might as well order the Americans to give their land back to the indigenous and accept their rule, no matter how abusive. And the indigenous Americans have far more claim based on recent historical evidence. The Jews were historically a "wandering tribe." That they occasionally settled in a certain place in the ME is a romantic artifact, just as the Palestinian claim of THEIR right to "holy places" is the same. Again, that both tribes worship there is a romance best left to collaboration, not exclusion.

On the 7th, it is crucial to understand that there were no direct attacks on civilians, only collateral damage. Out of the 1148 total names on haaret dataset, 473 military and 675 were civilians.
Ratio of civilians to military personnel killed on the 7th was 1 . 4 : 1 - lower than any of the iTf "mowing" operations, which has a ratio of 7 : 1
According to UN OCHA data from 2008 to 2022; The collateral damage on the 7th was significantly lower than any of the ITf "mowing" operations, which had a ratio of 7:1 with 1,023 military personnel out of 6,541 total. On the 7th, with 473 military (418 were iTf military personnel, 55 belonged to the police) out of 1148 total, the ratio of civilians to military personnel was a mere 1.4:1
When including all casualties, not just deaths, the collateral damage ratio of the "mowing" operations is a staggering 162:1
From the 161,233 accumulated civilian casualties over only 14 years of "mowing" operations.
A 162 :1 ratio means that for every 162 civillians, 1 military personnel is a casualty. The 7th had a ratio of 1.4:1, more than a hundred times lower.
The 473 are - 55 soldiers, 13 privates, 59 corporals, 200 sergeants (45 of whom were sergeant majors), 48 commanders, 32 lieutenants, 5 lieutenant colonels, 6 colonels, 37 officers, 10 inspectors, 6 intendents, and 2 Lance Corp. This was a military defeat, and they are taking it out on the rest.

Wounded includes: amputees from the deliberate targeting of knees by snipers, white phosphorous third degree body burns, etc
Even with being very very generous in extending the "civilian" nomenclature to those that are reservists. Not to mention ignoring the fact that the majority of the attacks were done in by their own forces inorder to prevent their capture, it is still incomparable to what was done in prior years.
In the Tantura (2022) documentary there is a iTf man who says that they took a pregnant woman, made bets whether the baby is a boy or a girl, disemboweled and cut her stomach open to check who won, another one talking about school children who were raising their the hands, the same way kids do in a classroom, after he rounded them up. He then kept firing. Both laughing merrily and casually at the recollection. In another documentary '1948: Creation & Catastrophe', a survivor speaks about women getting violated infront of their family members by iTf. She was a child at the time and still wept as an elderly woman. For more recent atrocities, "Breaking the Silence" record statements by the iTf themselves, they recount the events witht he same casualty their forebears do.
The "Costs of War" study by brown in 2021 has these figures for the past 20 years of engagement of US policy: indirect deaths 4.5-4.7 million, direct 905-940,000 , in other words 6 million deaths and 38 million displaced. This is relevant because of the Oded Yinon Plan.
More on the Oded Yinon plan - According to the founding father of zionism, theodore hertzel, the area of the jewish state stretches from the brook of Egypt to the Euphrates; the promised land extends from the river of Egypt up to the Euphrates and includes parts of Syria and Lebanon; when viewed in the current context including the siege on Gaza the zionist plan for the middle east bears an intimate relationship to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the 2006 war in Lebanon, the 2011 war on Libya and Syria and the continued crisis in Iraq and Yemen, not to mention the political crisis in the kingdom of saudi Arabia.
In the 1980s an article written by a former senior official with the israeli foreign ministry in which israel shahak wrote a forward to which says "in my opinion the accurate and detailed plan of the present zionist regime of ariel sharon for the middle east which is based on the division of the whole area into small states and the dissolution of all the existing Arab states."

Thank you both for this incredibly important interview. I was very impressed at the honesty of the ambassador. I say that because the current Israeli government communicates only propaganda, hate and determination to annihilate the Palestinians.😢
Everything the ambassador said obviously comes from a great deal of experience and an open mind and a sense of humanity and a true desire for peace. ❤
I absolutely agree that all people should have dignity and self-determination within their own countries. That is something Israel is not even willing to think about because they don't consider the Palestinians to be human!😠
That type of racism has no place in a modern world. All human beings deserve the same rights. I'm so grateful to hear a voice of reason from somebody who was an integral part of the Israeli government at one time.
I completely understand his decision to part ways. How can a person with decency and empathy work within a government that has no intention of doing anything different and intends to continue to dominate, oppress and annihilate the Palestinians?! 😢
Israel is in an apartheid state and I was glad to hear the ambassador admit that. Israel doesn't want peace. Actions speak louder than words. Netanyahu is a narcissistic pathological liar and will say anything to stay in power and stay out of prison. He and his government disseminates misinformation to his own country and the world. But that is nothing new. There is at least one generation that has been thoroughly brainwashed to despise the Palestinians and it is a disgrace beyond belief.
So, it's even more important to hear a qualified voice of reason.❤
Thank you both very much for taking the time to discuss the ambassador's point of view. I greatly respect his honesty and integrity. I am a Jewish American and I am horrified and furious to see what the Israeli military has done to the Palestinian people of Gaza and their entire infrastructure. It is shocking, horrifying, barbaric and utterly inexcusable.😢

Equal rights. As long as you dread to utter this, Israel will never ever have peace. Not only that, Not giving Palestinians equal rights is an existential threat to you and Israel as a state. If you want to keep Israel, you have to give them equal rights. Stop all these colonial words like "containment", us vs them, "our land" etc .. Equal rights is the key to everything, you can't go half way. You are no better than Palestinians, you are equal.

You see the contradiction in Netanyahu speech in 2009 with the reality exists today if we believe Oct 7 was a holocaust.
    Read
“There are those who say that if the Holocaust had not occurred, the state of Israel would never have been established. But I say that if the state of Israel would have been established earlier, the Holocaust would not have occured.”
If Isr has experienced Hamas rockets, Pls also experienced being massacred after removing PLO, preemptive attacks to the neighboring Arab countries.
You don’t have a good record either. They have every reason not to trust Isr and be disarmed.

Netanyahu made Israel's response purposefully devestating in order to create that divide between Palestinians and Israelis. By generating excessive hate from Palestinians in response to the devestation Israel caused, it could drive the wedge between Israel and Palestine further, making both the one state and the two state solution impossible and undesired. This way Netanyahu could say 'see I told you all we cannot live with or beside the Palestinians.

“Ruined”? If not for 10-7-23, the Abraham Accord would have gone forward and the Palestinians would die on the vine over time. They had to act. In truth, Israel’s war crimes preceded October 7 by decades and decades, including the dispossession from the Palestinians of “Israeli soil” by terror. Start the book from the beginning, not chapter 13.

I reject the notion that Judea & Samaria or Gaza is occupied territory per international law. The principle of uti posidetis juris determines the borders of a new country barring any other treaties addressing border. It says that the new state takes on the borders of the administrative entity that came before it, in Israel's case the British Mandate for Palestine, which included Judea & Samaria and Gaza. Therefore Israel's internationally recognized borders should have always included these territories, and the fact that the world doesn't do so is in direct contradiction of international law. It is, to my knowledge, the ONLY such case in the world. Why does this international law apply on Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, not to mention dozens of post-colonial South American countries, African countries and former Soviet Union countries, but UNIQUELY not on Israel?
That said, I 100% agree that the Palestinians, like all people in the world including the Jews have the same right of self determination. I think Israel ceding land that is its own and always has been its own for peace is worth it if it actually delivers peace. But the problem is that so much of the Palestinian society and the Arab world refuses to accept Israel's right to exist and to allow a Palestinian state today would be suicide for Israel. When the Palestinians and Arabs and Muslims who refuse to accept Israel change their views and come to terms with Israel, even if reluctantly, then there will be a chance for peace. We've seen it with Egypt, with Jordan, with the UAE and Bahrain. But until such time, I see no hope for a peaceful future, in which case Israel MUST be the stronger, dominant force as it is the only democratic and free society in the region.

Does the fact that the British colonial mandate was just as cruel and abusive to Palestinians as Israel is now matter? Can we accept THOSE boundaries? I believe it's our moral duty to forge new courses in cases like that.

    • @ShieRozow-Composer
      @ShieRozow-Composer 3 месяца назад

@@justpassingthrough...2492 I think that's kind of what-about argument that I generally don't think works. One wrong does not make another right. But the circumstances and legal status of the British Mandate are VERY different than today, as are so many other factors, so I'm not sure the comparison works very well in the first place.
Context is crucial. For example, those excusing terrorism are doing so in the context of resistance to occupation. I reject the notion of occupation in the first place as explained in my comment, and I reject the notion that terrorism can EVER be put into any kind of legitimate context. I think there's a big difference between terrorism and armed resistance.

    • @ShieRozow-Composer
      @ShieRozow-Composer 3 месяца назад

@@justpassingthrough...2492 How the Brits treated the local Arabs (I say Arabs for accuracy because back then they themselves identified as Arabs and not yet as Palestinians) has no impact on the conflict today. Are you aware that Israel actually treated Palestinians (and in many ways still does) better than other countries do? Most of the restrictions we see today are the result of Palestinian violence against Israel because they do not want Israel to exist. There were no travel restrictions until several years into the first intifada, Palestinians could freely travel all over the country and between Judea & Samaria (aka The West Bank) and Gaza. The vast majority of Palestinians worked in "Israel proper." Many legally, many illegally. Checkpoints started popping up more and more as terror attacks increased. The wall was built in response to a spate of suicide bombings (it worked, they stopped). I could go on about how most of Israel's actions were in RESPONSE to Palestinian violence. That isn't to say Israel's been perfect.
Can we accept that the Palestinian's goals are the elimination of Israel? A genocide?

All of the people who have encouraged or done little to oppose this genocide. So, Israel is forever....and will be forever a pariah nation who will be snubbed, ostracized and boycotted throughout time immemorial. Just watch any independent news and/or citizen journalism if you think that's a false assessment.
