Wow...sleeping in 4 second jags! A very sophisticated and much needed "narcolepsy" when surrounded by enemies! I had no idea Chinstrap Penguins - or any penguin - did that. Way cool, indeed!
    Fur seals are so lovely!
Oh, no! Avian Flu somehow got all the way down there?? Those poor birds will have no immunity to that! 😢💔
I hate those whaling and krill ships! ALL those fishing/killing ships should be *BANNED, permanently!!* I hate them so much!
THANK YOU, Dani, for taking us with you on such a wonderful trip! 💕😊❤

@@bodan1196 this was a person on a trip repeatedly violating the no touching penguins rule and straight up kidnapping a penguin. Preservation doesn't even come into play here. If that were to happen now, they could be exposing an entire colony of penguins to the avian flu by doing that.

I don't know if you will ever read this, but if you do, a little advice for your sea sickness. I was a blue water sailor, and medic, one of the best, and easiest things I found to use was ginger snap cookies, ginger ail, or candied ginger. I always carried that with me in my sea bag when we had the school kids out for oceanography trips. Hope that helps, and thanks for helping make my life a little better. P.S. My elderly Guinea Pig likes watching the squirrels while she is being fed at night.

Understand completely this anxiety, and it is good to feel it - it is not a mental illness but a healthy way of conscious people who care about others, whether human or animal, and the environment, our basis of living. But agree with you completely that best to be part of enhancing overall awareness and still be part of this world with open eyes. But sometimes the news about what's going on, above all from the side of humans, are terribly devastating…
There is a feeling of melting eevrywhere seeing the photos and secnes of Antarctica, and I think it's not just because of the news one hears online and on tv.

Antarctica from the perspective of a heated cabin is a different view. My uncle sailed across the antarctica in a self-built steel yacht 30 years ago (movie on my channel), they also almost went down on the Deception. He described all around the Antarctic belt, Kerguelen, the remains of large whaling bases. More than 100 years ago more than 2,500 people lived and worked in Antarctica, for obtaining fish oil and meat, something incredible. Life has not yet returned to some parts.

Loved the whole video Dani, I have two large maps of the Antarctica Peninsula, a friend spent a year on Deception Is, good hot pools, and, on Alexander Island was based at Fossil Point, with long journeys onto the Peninsula, had a Glacier named after him, However to me the Glacier would have its own murmurings, with teeth marks from Leopard Seals, etc. Have many books on people wintering over in their yachts. One was lucky enough to have a chainsaw, otherwise he would never have gotten out of the Bay, Ice Bergs were beginning to halt at the exit. I used to read stories to Sir Edmond Hillary's children! Now, he was chill............See you next time........

Once again thanks for the memories. Your photos and videos are incredible. Video was a good choice to capture the total expressiveness of the critters. Your volcano segment brought back mixed memories of my summers and winters stationed at the base of the other volcano, Mt. Erebus...watching steam rise out of it year round and realizing there was no way to escape in the winters if it should erupt. The seismographs would sound an alarm if the tremors were over a certain level though. A tourist plane actually crashed into Mt. Erebus back in the 70's with the loss of all life onboard. The southern continent is nothing to trifle safety with. I'm glad you were able to have this experience and articulate it so extremely well to the rest of the world.

What an amazing trip. So many Gentoo Penguins 😍 my favorite of the 18 species. I simultaneously can't believe someone actually stole a penguin but also, people sometimes do the most absurd things. I wonder if they were banned from going on another expedition because yikes. I also read about the avian flu reaching areas of Antarctica and it worries me so much. I hope every expedition is being as careful as yours was to disinfect and that all people are taking it as seriously as it should be taken.
I'm very curious about the baies born in Antarctica though. There must be some interesting stories there. I wonder if a birth certificate can even list Antarctica as a place of birth.
