    Superb video, Nathan! My 2003 Expedition has been idling rough for years and finally started stalling out. Was going to replace the throttle body($230) but thankfully watched your video this morning. Did everything exactly as you showed, and now its running like a top, idling perfectly. Took me less than an hour and only cost me $20 in those cleaners. Thank you, brother!

    Great video! Very instructional and helpful. Routine maintenance is something everyone should know how to do. Thanks!
    Just subscribed, look forward to many more videos for the DIY'er.

    I like this video because i like how you example what to do for the throttle body cleaning for ford f150 since I have a 2000 ford f150 and I’m willing to look forward to do that project on my truck and I will watch more of your videos

    My 2000 Ford expedition is a 5.4. Is there any difference? IDK I see all the same, except for those 2 hoses and where they go. 1 doesn't fit well enough for me. TY for your response. Also you used throttle cleaner, and what was the other for the sensors? Again TY..

    139,000 miles is nothing for that drive-train, the 4.6L in our 1999 expedition died at 289,000 miles, one day it lost oil pressure due to timing chain guide pieces clogging up the oil pick-up , we never had any serious problems with that vehicle up until the day it died, we replaced the engine and today we're at 315,000 miles original transmission

      trigga ville ....Right on! I've seen die at 100,000 miles because of poor maintenance. You must have had a good one.

    This is a really good video, my truck has the check engine light, so I'll start doing this to see if it gets better. I habe a 97 f150. Also I'm doing the idle valve that I saw in another video of yours.

    i would spray a little bit silicone spray on the throttle butterfly after cleaning, otherwise they get sticky after some time.

    Please get back with me if you see this I just did a oil filter housing gasket on my 2000 4.6 F-150 idle was fine before I did the job. Started the truck oil pressure is where it’s suppose to be at gauge but as soon as I get on the gas or come to a stop off pedal I get real low RPMs like right at 400-500 I did remove the Air box well secondary closest to coolant reservoir (MAS side) so not whole air box before Job thinking I would have to take off radiator hose which I didn’t after all I’m hoping it’s MAS, EGR or IAC and nothing to do with Oil pressure .

      clean MAF w/MAF cleaner, clean IAC w/carb cleaner, hold upside down so as not to hit electronics, if EGR issue u will get a check engine code, EGR code does not always mean bad EGR u probably have plugged passages btwn EGR n throttle body assy, u will need to disasemble n run stiff wire tool through passages to remove heavy carbon

    When I start mine the rpm's jump up to 2000 like yours but mine hovers around 1500 for a couple seconds then slowly drops down to about 700-900 rpms. After driving when I start it (warmed up) the rpms are always around 500-600 and it doesn't hover at 1500 rpms when started, it goes right down.
    I've changed the IAC, and before I did so the rpms would stay at about 1500 for 30-45 seconds then drop down. I've got a K&N air filter and a flowmaster muffler I thought I'd mention since both those parts help air to move through the system quicker.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Love the videos!

      I had a ford taurus that did the same thing. Never could figured it out. As long as it finally bottomed out at 600 RPM in D...I did not worry to much about it. Now mine does that when cold what you just described. The temp collant sensor helps control to control Idle JUST fyi.

    Thats not two mass air flow one of them is a IAT sensor it measures the temp of the air flowing through

      Take the whole throttle body off. It's only four screws. And clean deep inside, promise it'll idle better

    • @westhavenor9513
      @westhavenor9513 7 месяцев назад +1

      I think if you do this every 30k miles and keep up with it, it's all you need. But if you're doing it for the first time at 150k, then yeah take the throttle body off to clean because the EGR ports might be clogged too.

    • @dcgo44r
      @dcgo44r 6 месяцев назад

      @westhavenor9513 Never done the throttle body @ 120K and I think the deposits spread out to IAC valve, at least PCM threw me that code PO1504. I would deal with both at once!
