Having been playing this game for nearly 60 hours and watching the strategy videos online, I feel gaining the rune lord ability is like THE turning point for Tressa as well as the whole team. I honestly didn''t know how to appreciate her ability besides making money, passing BP and making her a dancer in the early stage of the gameplay. But with rune lord, she is like transformed into the master of the game. What a stark contrast.
When I first saw this game, I heard about the character Tressa and thought “Oh, she’s just a merchant what can she do to help”, but then I played the game and turns out she’s my fav character plus she is the most useful! My mama used her a scholar at first and it was a very good job combo cuz she can spam her spells and use rest (Which restores HP+SP) and it’s perfect! I have now made her a Runelord cuz I saw your video+ I used transfer rune +sidestep so everyone can avoid attacks! Plus, she has naturally pretty high Elemental attack so with all the support skills you showed in the video+equipment, she was the best character! Plus, her personality is really good. She was level 86 whenever I defeated Galdera! 🥲☺️ If I play octopath again, my first choice as the protagonist would be Tressa!
It’s crazy how much stronger an advanced job can make a character. I’m looking forward to getting these jobs. I honestly believe Tressa makes the best Runelord and Cyrus makes the best Scorcher.
I bought this game around September and played it for a while, but I got bored of it pretty fast (I also got my ps4 a little after buying this game, might have had something to do with it). But I recently picked it up again and I've been really enjoying it. I'm about a 100 hours into the game now and haven't even beaten all chapter 4s yet but I'm having a lot of fun building teams and OP characters like this one. Your video definitely helped a lot.
I personally like abusing Runes with Second Serving and Stat Swap (As needed) on other characters as needed, generally results in a lot more damage than this, especially when Cyrus or Olberic get their turn. It also doesn't really require BP (You're gonna murder them with basic attacks) which you can save for other important things.
I like making Cyrus into an God Sorcerer. Elemental Edge+Elemental Aid+BP-Boost+Surpassing Power is really good. When Cyrus has a Bishop Staff and over 900 Elem. Atk with only one Elem Augmentators is really broken. (hes also only at lvl 60)
He is the best character of the game, I beaten the final boss first part 1 with him, using concort to boost BP, have ophelia transfer cleric divine ability to him, have cyrus use the divine sorceror ability and enjoy doing multi crit damage of 15 to 20k x6 to everybody, pretty much the best character. The perks I use are the same as you but I prefer the one that halves SP used because he consumes sp like crazy if not using the sp nuts (which I didn't.)

Yes, you’re on the right track. Also, she’s the best sorcerer too cuz she can do SP Saver+rest+spam spells and the spells won’t affect her SP too much if you rest and have SP saver on her.

Runelord is easy to get too. You need 2 merchants that has the first warrior skill "cover", a cleric (better also be one of the merchants), and one or two damage dealers. Make sure that the attackers are near death so that the merchants can cover him/her. The 2 merchants just keep stacking side-step on themselves, so that all Balogar's single attack will 100% miss. When Balogar uses AOE, just revive the attackers with the cleric (don't boost).
I was loving this game then mmxlc came out. Then I got Gungeon. I was playing dead cells, then I started a Minecraft world! I love how many more games I play on switch
You can actually get 1 more elemental augmentor by doing the quest of the guy next to the entrance of wispermill and I think you need to kill the direwolf in the forest of purgation.
Tressa for Smash Ultimate! you could use Hired Help to summon random characters from Octopath and summon the eight heroes as a Final Smash to beat the shit of opponents.
You can probably swap out Elemental Edge for Augmented elements and use Peacock strut since it's the same buff. This build has 2 dancers that are faster than Tressa so you can reliably pull that off. I mean, it doesn't matter because the bosses are already dead, but it's a way to get a little more damage.
i had hanit as a theif equiped with double tomahawk, so in addition to being a debuff god, she also breaks anything super consistently for tressa to wipe the boss with. also if alfyn lines up, his concocts sometimes means i can just ignore the breaks and kill the boss with 2 balagor blade over 2 turns.
I think it's no secret that she makes THE perfect Runelord, if not for being able to Rest & Sidestep everyone! She is without question meant to be a Runelord & it would be a waste to make her anything else.
Isn't there a fitting Merchant Class in DnD?! After all; Her entire Role is the Buying & Selling of Items; even Buying Items off of NPCs with the Money She Earns from selling her wares. . .
I personally prefer to use Tressa as a support character. Even as a Rune Lord. Her combo of 100% evade buff along with sharing said buff to the other party members completely negates some boss fights that rely on nothing but physical attacks. Combine this with a character with the Reflect Veil to send magic attacks back where they came from and congratulations, you won the game.
What are your thoughts on apothocary Cyrus? Giving him the battle tested Axe and the Sub Zero staff will make him a scary ice based nuke when tressa gives him an ice rune and he uses last stand. +2 to ice and a +1 to lightning is nothing to scoff at.

"elemental aid is quite costly" No lol, it's NOT. Only if you use elemental attacks. A normal attack costs NOTHING. so double of nothing is NO SP USED. elemental aid is damn good for runelord. Also, battletested shield is great for sp regen. with elemental gear, each of the party members can do 50k for a normal hit with tressa's runelord buff. I got a party build that uses no attack skills, they only do normal attacks to save sp.
It costs twice the amount of SP to use all skills,so if you used Balogar's Blade (like I did in this video) it costs 100 SP. But you're right about one thing: the damage of the pursuits from the runes does increase with Elemental Aid.
Most overpowered character in the game by far. Makes everything a breeze. Once you get that Rune Lord class, it completely changes the game. But i would warn you, it does make the game far too easy, so if you want a challenge in this game, i wouldn't recommend using her.
I don't get why you dont swap Tressa and Cyrus? I mean Tressa is better as a runelord overall. But if you want to oneshot Cyrus damage is much higher. My Cyrus with double elemental augmentor has 999 elem atk. And Tressa makes an excellent Sorcerer.
What is the point of being able to do those builds mostly after you have beaten the game and all bosses are 1 hit KO? I don't see any fun in repeating Galdera over and over again. Major flaw in my opinion. Either the secret jobs should've come earlier or the game should have the option to a New Game +
Oh my god, this is the Octopath version of the KOS-MOS / Herald / QTpi build... Hey, I was wondering. Sometimes when I use Leghold Trap, it doesn't change the turn order for the current or following turn at all, so I sometimes have to wait for the NEXT turn after the ones shown. Is there a reason for this? It just seems kind of odd, especially when I see it changing things immediately like in this video.
It could! His high elemental attack can punch some holes into the enemies easily. While he doesn't have access to as many weapons as Tressa, this just means he can't stack Wind bonuses. As a scholar/Runelord, he has access to Sword, Axe and Staff. So he could use Harald's Sword, Battle-tested Axe and Bishop's staff to give bonuses to Fire, Ice, Lightning and Light.

I did the same thing, I always love the merchant class but the story is usually a little weak for them so I was excited and hers did not disappoint ❤️

BetaNights, You probably used Leghold Trap on a broken enemy. Broken enemies will *always* move first on the turn they recover.
BetaNights i also dont think it works when using it in the patience support skill
it works with patience. kinda got lucky on some boses like that

Why not use Alfyn and boost the entire party to 3 BP right off the bat instead of spamming donate BP?
That would work too, if you used Essence of Pomegranate! I just prefer playing around with Donate BP.

Tradewinds spear has 380 elemental attack, not that far off the 399 of the Battle-tested staff

SP definitely. You want Tressa to move last out of your party so the other members can help break/buff her.

No. If you overite your save after beating the boss, you can't go back to the boss rush or anything.
Primroses dance tnat gives you random buffs/debuffs is so good. Ive gotten the jp*5, twice in one round of combat. So...times 10!!!

2nd phase for sure. He does phys damage, so Tressa's rune lord + dodge on everyone helps big time!

x Jonas x No, but you can farm Mental Belts from Bishop (Ele Att/Def +65) at Saintsbridge Cathedral after you have cleared Ophelia's storyline.
