- Today we are talking about how to build a drawer box that is easy to build and strong. It will definitely hold up to the abuse in a kitchen cabinet setting.
To build the drawer box I use a joint called a locking rabbit, and then reinforce it with some decorative metal from K&S Precision Metals.

Excellent video, superb instruction and lots of very helpful tips. New subscriber!
Duh! Locking rabbit. That’s simple and brilliant. I had already overthought things into some overly complicated interlocking mitered rabbit with built in spline. This one is great Love it!
Well done !
It looks solid, strong and also combination of light and dark color looks modern and nice.
Excellent tutorial!
I'm loving the baby Chewbacca sound from your cross cut fence btw😜
Lol, I thought about cutting it out, but was like, nah, that's too annoying to cut got to leave it
Really liking the way you’ve been doing your videos. I’ve always appreciated your work.
Thanks!
I really like that joint… I’ve been using it for making cabinets, carcasses, draws etc for decades!….Good vid, well done. Thanks
Yeah, it's a solid joint!
Great video describing this, thank you for your efforts to give this to us. Subscribed!
Thanks for the quick re-upload 👍
Thanks for coming back and watching, I'm not sure what happened, the original video file was corrupt halfway through as well
good job
Hey Brian,
Love how you set up a wood chipper at the end of your table saw. Please share more details, this would help me with all the scrap wood I have.
Thanks and great job on your videos!
🤣🤣🤣 it's actually a snowblower, I'm at 7500 feet in the Rocky mountains so we get a lot of snow. But having a chipper in the shop, now that's a good idea. Messed up that cut. Boom gone. Lol
So you lower the blade depth to 1/4 inch before you cut the tongue and tenons? And I guess you make the dado blade wider to 3/8 inch? Thank you for the video, it was very helpful. My husband is impressed with my cabinet making skills 😂😢
Thanks Mary, this video was made some time ago. So I don't recall the exact order of operations. I would advise to mill a few pieces of scrap wood with the main wood so you can do a few test cuts to dial in your process and fit.

What's this "Easy" Kemosabe? Beautiful work, anyways. Thanks. I got some great tips on set-up from this.
What kind of wood do you use for the main drawer box?
I used alder for this project, but I don't have a go to, just whatever wood I think will look good with the project.
I love your fence stop! do you have a link to where you purchased it at?
I've had those forever, I bet woodcraft or rocker carries them. It is an awesome system
hi Brian, when you subtract 1/8" gap for the bottom drawer panel, does that mean 1/8" on each side or 1/8" total meaning 1/16" on each side?
1/8" total, and it's a small 1/8, you could get away with a 1/16". You just want a little space for movement.
What type of wood did you use for this?
Walnut is the darker wood, cherry is the center of the drawer front., and Adler is what the drawer box is made from.
@@Benham_Design looks great! Thank you!
