It baffles me too. I am a HUGE fan of the film, which I watch every year during the Holidays. In 2015 me and my parents took a trip to Cleveland, Ohio, and our first stop before going to our Hotel was going to the house they used for the exterior shots of A Christmas Story!
Will Ferrell actually was a little scared of the jack in the box because the director was behind the control and activated it different times on every take.
Really? Feels like they weren't understanding entirely atleast, the two male elf's seemed more annoyed then understanding. the other 2 female elf's (the orange and blue one) seemed more kinder and understanding but the 2 red one's ehhhh just upset over how slow buddy is at toy making and how he's the tallest in basketball. 🤷 like even buddy sensed he didn't belong and that the guy trying to cheer him up wasn't being genuine as he really didn't have anything good to say about him.
When I was in school, we did Elf the musical and my drama class watched this movie so we could get more familiar with the characters we were playing. When Buddy said he made 85, one of the students is like "Why's that bad? That impressive." But then they said he was 915 behind and the student was like "Oh."
2003: Jon Favreau directs this classic 2008: Jon Favreau directs Iron Man, kick starting the MCU 2019: Jon Favreau creates the epic Star Wars show The Mandalorian Point is, Jon Favreau has made many masterpieces
I'm glad Lucasfilm made him and Dave Filoni high position directors because they're finally doing the franchise justice after the disaster sequel trilogy
If Buddy can create the 'Mona Lisa' on an Etch-A-Sketch(as Buddy has shown us he can do from when he decorated Gimbel's...) then Ming Ming should be happy with him only doing that, if u ask me...
"See Buddy? You're not a cotton headed ninnymuggins. You're just...special." Well *that's* reassuring. lol if he was truly special he would have been able to do stuff better than all of them. Hahahahhaha
I sure wish work environments were like that in real life - the boss accepts you if you are trying, but behind. Most of all, the rest of the other workers still accept you.
Who then have to pick up the slack after you? Not exactly fair to anyone else outside of oneself. Even in this movie, the boss had to have another elf pick up the slack of being 950 off pace and told that same elf that Buddy was killing him with that quota shortage.
This was McDonald's, my work environment at my previous job at McDonald's was toxic. The Etch a Sketch situation that Buddy went through, is like my situation with Happy Meals. With me going as fast as I can, I try to make as many Happy Meals, but no matter how many I make, whether it was in the 2 digits like 65, or even 95, or even the 3 digits like 100 or 115, my angry manager always tells me I'm off the pace, thinking that the number of Happy Meals I make is not enough for the next day, and he would often get angry at me for going slow and would often call me bad names including useless, weak, stupid, and idiot. My quota was always 200 or higher depending on how many they needed. Sometimes, my manager when he would put me on a break, he asked a coworker to pick up the slack on the Happy Meals and the number that I couldn't make. A lot of the coworkers were really nice to me, even though I'm different, but I always worry I'm slowing them down and holding them back by going at my own pace and making countless mistakes which would make my manager really mad. I left my job cause it got worse, and now I work at a friendly environment at Giant:)
@@ChristianSirianni This is an amazing story Christian. Mostly that the manager, at the McDonalds, is not your manager anymore. Whoever they were, they are a tyrant, piece of shit.
Was a bit in my teens when this came out, and still remember watching this in theaters with my sister as a silly Blockbuster event. How the blast did this end up in the "Classic" genre with A Christmas Story, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the original 2D cartoon), and Home Alone? FYI, I was literally born in the very holiday season Home Alone was in theaters.
1:18 I know how he feels. I have a learning disability and ASD. It takes me longer to understand instructions and perform tasks. My boss at catering won't let work shifts alone, but she lets the others--including the newer workers--do so. She was upset I had signed up for a one-person shift. The assumption that I was automatically helpless really hurt me. My boss scolded her younger colleague for not noticing I had signed up to go solo. When she asked him if he thought I could do the shift, I answered for him with a firm "yes," because I felt belittled by her. She said she didn't think so, was all "I've told you not to sign up for shifts by yourself, I've been very clear about that, I don't know how much clearer I can get for you to listen. You need someone to guide you." I was so angry and hurt, I ALMOST insulted her ironic profession working wedding receptions when she's never even been married. And she would've deserved it, for insulting my learning difficulty. It feels like everyone's better than me and I'm incompetent.
I love this movie but it's kind of embarrassing how that one elf says "You're just special." It's like they pity Buddy just because he's a human and they're all elves.
Buddy is an awesome Elf to fall in love with Jovie when he meets her for the first time they were just meant to be with each other and they even have a child named sussie at the end of the movie when they go to see Papa Elf at the North Pole.
Your comment made me chuckle. I love A Christmas Story, and many years ago (in 2015), me and my parents had a mini-vacation over in Cleveland, Ohio. The first thing we did was visit the house from A Christmas Story, and see the props and costumes used in the film.
It’s so interesting to have Peter billingsley know Ralphie from A Christmas story in as the Elf in this based of Rankin/bass film with will also I would not volunteer to in testing out jack in the box🤡👎then pops out?? lol! 😂No thanks!,

Met him today! Very nice!
In spite of his inability to make the quota, the elves were so kind to Buddy.
Will Ferrell actually was a little scared of the jack in the box because the director was behind the control and activated it different times on every take.
How sweet was it that Buddy clearly was not cut out to be an elf but the elves still treated him nicely and with understanding
Way better than how reindeer treat each other
Exactly. Like you can tell they cared about him, but didn't want him to feel like an outcast by telling him he's human.
