    Thanks a bunch for this video you answered a bunch of my questions and mentioned some things that I’m probably doing wrong so thank you I will get into the lab tonight and hopefully have success 👍👍👍👍

    I love the idea of that rocket heading

    Alternatively, using a small length of visco fuse to act as the delay between the motor and the header, by placing it in the pass fire hole you drill into the clay plug, will make for a nice transfer in a more predictable way.
    This also gives you more room for activities, so to speak, as you aren't having to rely on delay mix and the space it takes. Good stuff.

      @Orlando-k1s 4 дня назад

      Lmao so just put clay instead of delay takes up the exact same amount of space

    I use 65:35 sugar fuel. I ram a nozzle then ram fuel until the line on the rammer is 3/8-1/2 of an inch above the tube (this measurement is with the side of the rammer with the hole in the tube). You don't need a special mixture for the delay, 3/8-1/2 is just right. I don't make another plug and drill a hole, all I do is add the flash powder and then cap it off with some air-dry clay. It's fast and easy.

    Dude we have to see one of these fly successfully with that little header. I live in a Karen neighborhood and I have had three catos two in my drive way and one in the back yard in the past two days. They’re pissed 😂😂🧨 just wait until they start going up !!

    Any chance you could do a video showing your method/formula not only for making your blackpowder but granulating it as well?

    • @E85_STI
      @E85_STI  Год назад +1

      Yes I can for sure and I’m going to post a video of the two small rockets I made yesterday so check that out it should be uploaded now. So the black powder was granulated and still not fully dried and it still worked very well.

    Out of curiosity have you ever tried lifting a 9/16x1.5 tube as a header on the 5/16 rockets?

      So I tried this and I think it will lift it especially using whistle fuel and I’ve showed some of those on the channel.

    I use that exact mallet for my bp engines never had issues up to a 3lber… you must not be dampening your bp before hammering away That is why it is not compacting together good and catoing

    • @E85_STI
      @E85_STI  3 года назад

      Well the viewer mentioned that when using just black powder with clay plugs it works just fine. When they drill a hole and put flash it CATOs. Maybe the hole drilled is too small? That’s why I mention to use a 1/8 drill bit as that’s the size of most fuse holes like helicopters.

    Can I use hardwood black powder as fuel?

    • @E85_STI
      @E85_STI  2 года назад

      Yes, Paulownia is the fastest hard wood for black powder. Search my channel I actually show how I make charcoal from store bought red cedar pet bedding and that works so good and it’s cheap for a huge bag.

      @@E85_STI thanks for the response and suggestion, also I can’t seem to find rawhide hammer, would a 4 lb mallet suffice in compressing 5/16 rockets?

    • @E85_STI
      @E85_STI  2 года назад

      @@jeremy268 so I have actually pressed the 5/16 rocket with a 1 ton arbor press which I do have on my channel I show how much force it produces with a lb force gauge. now for the small rockets I have used a small rubber mallet and it didn't work well. A 4lb should be enough to compress the bp if you are using granulated bp as it compacts much better than MEAL D. I have a video that shows my 5/16 CATO but you could also make too much of a fast bp and that will CATO every time so that's another thing to look into.

    • @jeremy268
      @jeremy268 2 года назад

      @@E85_STI I didn’t think to fast of BP would risk a Cato, I didn’t want to risk hardwood BP being to slow in powering 5/16 rockets, then should Red cedar BP be enough or to much? Or should I just stick with hardwood BP?

    • @E85_STI
      @E85_STI  2 года назад +1

      Are you using the 5/16 tools? If not it could be that your nozzle is too small but if you are then your BP is too hot. I’m the beginning mine wouldn’t even lift they would just blow up. So I changed the BP and then they worked. Check out my 5/16 whistle rocket..

      @@pyrooutlaw86 yup let me know how it works and I’ve made a video with sugar fuel as well. It works but the BP has more power whereas the sugar sits for a few seconds then takes off. You could try using black powder and add a little more charcoal to it as that slows the burn rate down
