Lorde's got a new cover track out called "Take Me to the River," originally from Al Green and then covered by Talking Heads. So it's a cover of a cover. This will all be on the test.
Lorde was interviewed alongside David Byrne of Talking Heads for Rolling Stone months ago and revealed to him that Take Me to the River was one of the first songs she heard from the band and was incredibly influential to her. Ever since the A24 tribute album "Stop Making Sense" was announced alongside Lorde's involvement in the project, it was speculated that this song would be the one she would be covering. And now we're here.

I have a feeling lordes going early 2000’s frutiger aero. The beeping and the artistic dips in audio quality. She’s always talking about the internet and how crazy modern-life is- I’d like to think she’s intentionally exploring it on LP4, instead of “seeking refuge” from it (SOLAR POWER). Sonically. Acoustic into retro-electric. Old-internet aesthetic. At least that’s my head canon. Let’s hope she doesn’t stay in the dark too long.🤞

The tribute album is as close to the original. So Lordes version is exactly the same except it's her singing and not David Byrne. St vincent was influenced by Talking Heads I read somewhere.
