My ISSUE with the DJI Mic... And How I Fixed It

  • I've been using the DJI Mic for a few months now and, on the whole, i'm really happy with it. I decided to buy it after watching countless reviews and seeing other creators starting to adopt them as their audio recording device of choice.
After a few months of use, however, i've found a glitch that's very small but VERY annoying.
In today's video I share the issue I encountered in the hope that it raises awareness to fellow users and provides a bit of a workaround

dude you can't make viewers wait for 4 minutes before you give them what they came for. That is going to hurt you audience retention.

TY to talk about it. I had this issue 2 times on wedding. Randomly glitching under each minute. It was very long shots, over than 30mn... I lost something like 4h to synch, and i had few important sentences with only the sound of cameras ... Not profesional at all.

My issue with this dji mic is how awful it sounds. Can you not hear how muffled your voice sounds in this video? Maybe I'm super sensitive to mics, but I bought this mic and I cannot stand it. I'm used to using podcast style mics so that's probably why

Yup, experience this all the time with these mics. I love these things but for that one glitch spot, I end up reverting to the audio captured from the receiver to the cam, which is normally no where near as ideal as the internal recording one. Thank you SO much for this fix!

Thanks for this, am happy with my kit, not experienced it yet but its good to be informed.

As a software engineer with some embedded experience, my guess about what’s happening here has to do with file size constraints - it’s possible that the sync issue happens when a new file or segment of the file is created internally on the mic recorder. Another way to test this might be to disable internal recording entirely to see if that helps at all. I’ve got a DJI Mic 2 that’s getting bad interference using a DPA 4097 micro shotgun connected to it recording onto the Osmo Pocket 3. Hopefully it’s not my cheap(er) YPA microdot adapter - the official DPA 3.5mm to microdot is over $100, but if that is indeed the cause of this digital-sounding static noise I guess it is what it is. I’m guessing it’s not though given how it works fine on other devices and directly into the OP3 with a Saramonic SR-C2003 USB-C adapter, which sadly DOES NOT work for time code sync with a Tentacle Sync E, nor does the C2006, and the C2001 is sold out everywhere right now. Hopefully DJI releases a USB-C adapter that works with plug-in-power mics AND timecode jam sync.

and how does this manifest itself if you disable the recording in the buttonhole?)

I have this issue. Very frustrating to have the audio un-sync I'm glad that it happened to me with a practise run, and I'll format my cards and cross all fingers that this doesn't happen when I'm recording the real interview.

The latest firmware for the DJI Mic has resolved this issue. You might want to consider updating it.

Hello thanks for your review. Could you help me?
I heard that DJI mic has drift while recording internally. But I need to record using the camera for about 2 hours on lectures. From what I heard if I recorded directly to the camera there is no drift only when recorded internally on the transmitter.
Do you know something about that?

you are recording your self so is not problem with you and your glitch but what happens when you got paid and need to record a client? you will tell the client: "hey is a glitch which is not a big problem, don't worry i am happy with DJI🤣

this days youtubers will sell you faulty products! This must stop and DJI need to get the money back to the customers. You cant work with the glitch and the out of sync audio, you just can't, what's wrong with you ppl!
