I just can't understand the complaint regarding how he plays, he controls pretty good, and he clearly fixed whatever Sonic Team was doing with Heroes controls. You have to pay attention to the road because he's really fast and you have to time his homing attacks so he doesn't miss the target, the level never throws you into oblivion randomly, nor the character decides to just fall from a platform. The bosses are a joke once you understand how they work, and honestly, that's good, if not, the complain would be that they take too long and that one gets tired facing them. And the final bosses are not difficult, just don't spam the weapon as you need to shoot them during the window they're vulnerable (in Black Doom's case, when he's not attacking and when he's not vanishing). Also, the whole game is designed around replayability, missions change your experience playing the levels, some levels even change drastically due to the mission you're completing, you will unlock a special weapon or its upgrade after getting an ending, and also, the Chaos Control is designed to just skip parts of the level.
yea maybe it's a skill issue on my part because it seems to be a common thing for me and this older 3D sonic titles, but there are definite times where I had Shadow just do as he wants. It's pretty funny though so I'm not upset.
I remember that you can move some of the characters around such as sonic and knuckles with a second controller. I'm guessing coop mode was an idea that was scrapped.
I've always thought the thing with controlling Sonic and co. with the second controller was more just them incorporating the ability to control Tails with the second controller like in Sonic 2/3; it's the perfect opportunity to bring it back and each character actually has some unique traits, like most having separate melee attacks (Tails has a powerful multi-hit, Rouge has relatively big range compared to the others) and a few have unique attributes (Maria has a low jump and can't jump dash, only Sonic has an actual homing attack while most other characters just get the jump dash). It's just a shame that Charmy, Eggman, and Doom's Eye can't be played as, since that makes The Ark, Prison Island, and Sky Troops have no controllable secondary character, along with the Sonic & Diablon fight
I've never played this one but I've seen other videos on it and it definitely seems like one of those "so bad it's good" kind of games lol. Nice video!
@@ActuallyParty one of my favorite franchises is resident evil, and they have always had pretty consistently great gameplay. 2:01 wait a second, the Space Colony Ark Act 1 remix in Shadow Generations uses that guitar riff at the beginning, I thought that was completely original
I like the concept of the game and the ideas for it I just think it's execution is flawed. I think a game like Shadow 05 with all the edge and swearing can work as long as there's that slight awareness that it's all a little ridiculous. Not saying it should make corny jokes constantly, but that it should just try to be sincere and as epic and edgy as possible. Because over the top edge that sorta understands how over the top it is but doesn't care wrap back around to being cool asf and I want that for Shadow
Its a good game but the Ark and Doom levels suck ass I'd love to see more Sonic Games that let you choose your own path honestly I prefer Shadow the Hedgehog to Sonic Adventure 2 crazy I know Shadows game has many flaws yet I find it more fun than the Adventure games same with Heroes I love that game as well. Lastly Shadows is the First Sonic game I played that requires patience it has replay ability the missions are sometimes long to make the short stages feel longer which I'm ok with it.
yea the idea behind the game is great but for a some stages it just didn't feel different enough or was just overall painful to play. I can understand the appeal of having to slow down and focus but overall I personally prefer to just go as fast as possible and beat a stage.
People like to overexaggerate when it comes to this game The controls are pretty alright and the air attack is pretty useful and it's always nice to get that super strong weapon like the gatling gun or the alien weapon that sends energy... Circles? There IS wasted potential, most boss battles are ridiculous, the Sonic+Diablon is a rip off because wtf cares about the commander, I go evil to beat up Sonic, not to have Sonic as an npc without a health bar and the balancing is not great. But it's a perfectly fine game for some fast paced, cheesy gameplay when you need to turn your brain off for a hour or so. Just enjoy being a dick, a cool dude or even a completely unpredictable lunatic and you'll have a good time
It's not "perfect" in execution but the point is that each path is entirely non-canon in itself meanin non of them R how shadow got the emeralds. We don't get to C or play any of the canon parts cus shadows true path is one he will find on his own, not wit the player or anyone else. So wut the player sees R merely possibilities based on if things had taken a diff path started by the player or other characters directin shadow a certain way or givin him certain info that makes him perceive the truth bout himself diff. This means non of those possibilities(endins) or the paths taken to get to them R who shadow truly becomes. Savior of humanity for maria, android emperor wit omega, dominator/destroyer of the world, BD lackey, kills sonic to be the best, etc. etc. non of these R who he is but they could've been. In the end he decides to choose for himself wut he'll be & not be ruled or influenced by others like he was in SA2. He decides to not let the past (memories found or not) define his being & lets it all go & this lets him be more free & more like sonic in his own way. It's a lil messy but it's smart imo as it separates himself from his SA2 self & allows SA2 shadow to "stay dead" so to speak as that was the og intention. Also the english localization butchers the script ST wrote. The story makes less sense & they straight up say completely diff things than wut was actually written in japanese. Like the pres. thanks gerald in eng which doesn't make sense but in jp he says shadow instead. Or how in the last cutscene when shadow says goodbye to himself in jp he says "adios" cus in SA2 that's wut sonic & maria say to him for the last time. In eng SA2 changed it to "sayonara" but in shad05 there was a mishap & sayonara turned into "goodbye forever". They also don't curse anywhere near as incessantly or goofily in the og script. It jus shows the eng version of these game R so messed up & shadow is the highlight to that.

That would've been really cool! I don't really care for the 2P mode they gave us.
