I still don't understand how they thought they could replace this legend and he's way of explaining things.

New design looks eerily similar to the old Tamburello runoff at Imola. Hope nobody loses a steering column coming into that.

That runoff should be kitty litter and not tarmac. The tarmac thing is proven to be a false dawn and bad for drivers taking liberties with track limits. Motorsport Australia should put it's money together and buy Sandown to turn it into a permanent motorsport facility and get rid of the normal horses.

And if someone hits that new wall at full speed it'll be 40g+ because that wall is nearly 90 degrees in relation to the straight

Did a track day at sandown. Even turn 1 can be sketchy if you arent experienced. Know quite a few people drive straight off onto the sand

The new run off was plainly obvious. Not rocket science.

Take some of the millions you rake in revenue and tip it back into the circuits. You lot don't give a rats about motorsport for anyone other than yourselves. You don't race at Wakefield park so you don't care if it goes belly-up.

Super dangerous when the race track doesn't change. Therefore, the safety of race doesn't have!!

We never had to many crashes like this until these drivers dont want to give way to anyone . The old days they had brains to all give eachother room . The egos on drivers now when racing is insane . I drove sandown a few times and your nuts thinking you can just barge your way around and nothing will happen to you . Your brains and body can die from to many g forces .

I'd like to point out that a couple of those examples of crashes there had in one case a tire blowout (not the driver's fault) and a tire lockup (anyone could make that mistake). It's not all "Drivers being greedy".

Mark, it is only Stupidcats and PWs [PoserWagens] that crash. Lets drive at 12/10ths,, what could go wrong.
I have raced that track in Sports Sedans and they seldom ever go off. And if they do it is turn one or Dandenong Rd. They arre generally driven in the drivers ability and ofcourse the ability to look further ahead than the bonnet.

You answered it in your explanation Larko, but skipped over it. Nothing to do with the high speed corner after a straight. PI and SMSP don't have these huge offs as much as Sandown. The issue at Sandown, and Bathurst, is the single file section following the high speed corner. Remove the right hand kink and allow 2 cars to go side by side all the way to Dandenong Road corner and there will be less issues, plus the track will probably be more fun for all categories, not just the elite series'.
It is almost like the track run-off tarmac section should have just been made the track.....

We’re should change the new track. Always a big accident. We’re should think twice about the life of drivers ? No good the sandown track.
