Another great moment happens in Shots Fired when the White House goes on lockdown and once the President learns of the situation he goes through the proper protocol then immediately asks the question, "Where's Charlie?" Leo: He's somewhere in the building. Head of Secret Service: We're holding people where they are right now. President Bartlett: But if he heard what happened he's going to be trying to get here. Secret Service Agent: We have to hold everybody for a moment so we can secure the... President Bartlett: NO! I'm telling you if Charlie heard there were bullets he's going to overpower whosever's trying to... Just at that moment Charlie come busting through the door after what can only be a dead run and a fight with another Secret Service agent guarding the door. He's out of breath and physically looks consumed with finding the President. Nothing could stop him from reaching the Oval Office. Once he sees the President he HAS to know that President Barlett is OK. The look on the President's face says it all. He loves Charlie like a son and is extremely relieved that Charlie is OK, and was not beat up or worse by the Secret Service while en route to his office. Once he knows that the President is OK, Charlie immediately starts breathing heavily and apologizes for his actions. Not to the Secret Service detail, but to the President Himself. Charlie: I'm sorry Mr. President. President Bartlett: Come here. President Bartlett has a smile on his face. An expression of gratitude and pride. He's proud of Charlie at this moment. Charlie walks over to the President wondering if he's going to be reprimanded right then and there but never hesitates. President Bartlett: It's bulletproof glass in the windows, OK? You wanna kill me you're gonna have to do it from inside the building. Charlie: Thank you, Mr. President. Only after that exchange does Charlie acknowledge his colleagues in the room asking if they are OK. The devotion between these two men runs deep.
I loved how the Charlie character evolved. In a few seasons he even told Bartlet: "I can't believe that a plurality of American voters pulled a lever next to your name." (To which Bartlet replied: "Suckers!").
It really is such a marked difference if you watch the through line. When he's first introduced he looks so scared and sheepish, like he's terrified even to speak. And yet working for Bartlett, being around so many dedicated and smart people, he grows not only in his confidence but comes to appreciate his own abilities and talents.
I would have done the same thing tbh .. not only was he the president not only did he single handily ask me to work with him but he made my mother’s murder apart of his agenda ..
It's my wife's goto series to binge. when it went off Netflix, we had to buy the complete series. She's watched it from start to finish at least a dozen times, in fact is probably finishing the final season today or tomorrow.

Aaron Sorkin’s work takes my breath away and I’ve watched all four of his West Wing seasons but bought the whole set. Last night I finally managed to introduce it to my BFF (Australian male, and very resistant to this idea for many years). “OK, just one episode..” Two episodes later, he had gone very quiet and was still watching… I think this Christmas Day, entertaining him won’t be a problem 👏👏👏👏👏
I watched this series from the beginning, proudly own it on DVD, and got back to it often. Superlative writing, a magnificent cast, for all those seasons the smartest, most compassionate show on TV. I still wish Jed Bartlet was my President, and his inner circle my West Wing. See the sparkle in Charlie's eyes?

I don't like Psych, I wish that he would have stayed on the West Wing. It does have its moments but for the most part I wished that he would have stayed on the West Wing.
This show was so great! The characters were so motivated, intelligent, patriotic, scrupulously honest, and willing to literally give their lives for this country, and then we look at presidential politics for the last 8 years?
I'd rather have a president who spoke his mind and got results, rather than one who was "presidential" (whatever that is) and was nothing but the glitz and polish his (or her) handlers created. Furthermore, I'm sick and tired as a conservative of being the punching bag for moronic lefties and being constantly told that we have the be the graceful and civil ones. To hell with that. Started watching TWW reruns before bed each night and was hooked. Was lucky enough to get all seasons on dvd. My favorite memories are sitting in my living room in the fall of the year binge watching the series. I think I have watch the full series at least 6 times or more. These clips have me ready to get out season 1 and start another binge session.
I loved this show because it showed that creating change is hard. Each proponent makes the case for what they feel is the best stance on an issue, often asks for way more than they will ever get, and they negotiate, argue and in many instances find a solution. The solution may not please either side entirely but it shows that change is incremental. I read a long time ago that "bottlenecks" in making decisions actually help us find better solutions. I am all for a good political debate.
I come back to these from time to time to remind myself that decency in that office IS possible. So so sad here in the early days of 2021. Jan. 20...... can you reinstate our optimism???

I am a conservative , and a Republican, however I thought that this show was one of the finest ever presented. The intelligence, at that level was portrayed beautifully. I’m not sure that anyone in the Federal government, still adheres to principles, the way this show portrays them, and maybe that’s always been true. It’s nice to think that though. I remember watching the entire series when it was first on. What a great show. One of my favorite moments? Just action-packed? “In the Shadow of Two Gunman” when they capture the second shooter (the start of the episode).
much later in the series, Bartlett asks Charlie about the death penalty. Jed B., " do you think the person (who was never found) that murdered your mother should have faced the death penalty? " Charlie, " no sir, I'd want to kill him myself.. "
Apparently some KTW bullets could pierce kevlar vests, but it had nothing to do with the teflon coating. It had to do with the metal composition of the bullet.

Given the scale of the propaganda against him, someone having a -ve opinion of Trump is not surprising, but ignoring what Biden (and Hillary) actually did when in power is just bizarre.

Who is that ungodly alien who gave this clip a "thumbs down"? huh? Probably the best tv show ever. Every single episode is so perfect that it almost brings tears to your eyes. I can't find one episode where nothing was being taught or the viewer is made to feel like fast forwarding through.

Jed Bartlet is the best president/ head of state anywhere ever.
I am a conservative , and a Republican, however I thought that this show was one of the finest ever presented. The intelligence, at that level was portrayed beautifully. I’m not sure that anyone in the Federal government, still adheres to principles, the way this show portrays them, and maybe that’s always been true.
It’s nice to think that though. May God bless America, no matter which side of the aisle you choose.
