Excellent video. As a former subbuteo player 25 years ago now, I loved the competition, I trained and practiced sometimes 3-4 hours a day to compete at the highest level. I played it as a sport back then and it seems it is still played as a sport today. Makes me want to take it up again. Brings back many happy memories.
Subbuteo is a toy I always wanted, but never had for Christmas. Since 2000 I'm collecting and enjoying some casual games with my teen son. Now my fingers are thick and old, but the joy is the same and when I display the pitch on the table it feels like that Christmas day I never had.
Scott, I've watched and rewatch this video a few times now. Great job. Just as a fan of the sport, I'd love to see an update as we now approach 2020 going into World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Cheers mate, hope all is well with you in your neck of the woods!
Great video. Makes me want to get playing again. Having competed in competitive martial arts tournaments, video game tournaments, I can honestly say there is nothing like the tension, and atmosphere, of a competitive subbuteo match.
Great job Scott, nice to see again familiar faces since I left the UK two years ago. Alan Collins cracks me up, he's still brilliantly enthusiastic as ever. On the subject of sport or game, I'd say it's a bit of both and it an be your pastime if you wish it or more than that if you can manage. It's certainly more active than Chess or Snooker, you swet when you play and jump about. I'd say it's not far off Ping Pong in terms of physical effort so call it what you like, one thing is for sure, it's
Mental ! I loved this. At senior school in the early 1970's we had a league, i lost 4 out of 1017 competitive matches.I kept my Subbuteo with 41 teams until a couple of years ago when liver cancer followed by a transplant caused me to go bankrupt and i had to sell my beloved collection. I still remember all my players names captained by Ed Kickerin at Centre back !!!! Guess that makes me sound like an anorak !
Nothing wrong with anoraks ! I had a player called Bobby Sides { because He seemed to be not quite centere on the base ] another called Don lean { because He was leaning Forward } and a French player called Piere Le Strike [ he played up front } Oh and Chelsea Player called Peter Osgood...………………. Cant remember why I called Him that ! lol
I remember seeing sets when i was a kid and always wanted a set to play. But we couldn't afford it. Remember seeing it being played on tv always wished to play but never got to play 😭
I'm 55 and have recently joined a local club. Getting equipped atm and practicing. The club is temporarily closed due to Covid-19 and lockdown but should restart at some point. There are quite a few clubs up and down the country.
great stuff, I like the thing that it’s a mixture of soccer, chess and snooker. For me it’s a game and that’s no problem unless I get that flick in’ finger really fit. As for Mr England - well, England expects dude 😂
Great video m8! Was my favourite game when I was a young boy. Sadly not too many people have heard of Subbuteo where I live now. What's the closing song in the video?
What a wonderful documentary. So many OTT characters.. ~ laughs ~ Also why does it matter whether it's a sport or a table top game? It's odd folk care about that.
Two things... 1. Don't make me laugh, it's not a sport it's a game. 2. This is a film about table football, not Subbuteo. Having said that its an interesting film.
I've noticed that the index finger is the finger of choice these days. Back in the day that was considered unorthodox- nearly everyone used their middle finger.
@@billing187 Thank you so much!! Do you have any rare footage of subbuteo/table soccer to share with me? I wanna start a channel about this game and to me your docu-film is the best movie on subbuteo I've ever watched on youtube!
The video is just brilliant! However, when the players that got filmed here represent the Subbuteo way of life then this is not what I want to have our kids. Drinking and smoking cigars, timidating shouting and voice wrestling is not what I am considering part of Fairplay nor as an ideal role model for young players. I think, Subbuteo has real potential, but only when future tournaments are getting more civilized protagonists!
I think this documentary would have been a LOT better if it would have actually focused on Subbuteo rather than people drama. This documentary was less about Subbueteo and more about drama and that made it boring. I would have liked more focus on the game, it's mechanics, it's history, and the actual tournament instead of just... drama. The documentary spent more time being boring talking about why this person misbehaved or why that person got banned, or why this person intimidates people instead of spending time talking about the actual game. As an American who's really interesting in games, I would have loved to have learned about the game itself and learned more about the tournament itself, and maybe even watched some of the tournament.

No idea why RUclips brought me here but really enjoyed watching this, deserves more likes.

Interesting, funny, great character studies and a neat history of the game. Great to see it making a come back.

I don't know how I stumbled across this, but I'm so glad I did. What a great watch! Really enjoyed it, thanks for putting it together and sharing!
What a great video! Thanks so much for making it for our sport.
That guy comparing himself to David Beckham 😂😂
Self awareness and this chap have yet to meet! That being said, I appreciate his passion for the game.
Bros heads fell off
I bet he can also relate to scoring an injury time free kick in the final kick of a massive game

Thank you graciebarra,Its a sport, is my sport!
I think it is time for a follow-up documentary now.
Quality documentary
FairPlay Scott... That's brilliant mate.
Great film. Fascinating.
Very interesting documentary !
Wow, imagine getting a chance to go to a real subuteo tournament, I can smell the atmosphere!!
Great doc! Great footage! The sport question should have been left out. It's a passion!
Good Job ! Thanks a lot for all Subbuteo players

It is a great game far better than any computer game of football which are far more popular now.
brilliant

7 years and no likes??

fantastic job, man! Can I use some parts of this excellent video in some new subbuteo stuff that I'm still workin on?
William Dotto sure

Subbuteo by Admiral Fallow
Peter Adolphs original game is NOT being played- its been hijacked and being now played with illegal figures to different Rules.
Best ever subbuteo players - dominic demacro, hoffman, vasco,(morgan, lol)
Love it.
Its a Sport.[fact]
Great watch.
10:45 he’s just like David Beckham. 😂
The goal celebrations are a bit lame. Now, if the players were to take their shirts off and run around the table...
Good video. And that's about it.
The video is just brilliant!

Kaspar Bennet = England legend
Well, I don't know a lot of people liking Alan Collins .-...

"Strange game"? Not really, lol. Good video though.
