@@HeartwayFarms you did a great job explaining the process. After you form the dough and you let it set out for 4 hours to rise, do you cover it? Also I’d like to make loaf shape instead of round Will that work? I don’t have a lid for my Dutch oven is that ok?

Your bread looks amazing. I have been making sourdough for a couple of years and one thing I do is to wet my hands, scraper and the work surface with water before I shape the loaf and it works a treat to stop the dough sticking where it shouldn't!!!

Great Job. I have been making homemade bread for years using store bought yeast. I never knew how easy it was to make sour dough bread, and starter. Wow! I will make some soon. Thank you for the video.

What a great video! I've found that I can leave my sourdough starter in the fridge for a long time without feeding it. While I was sick and unable to bake for about 2 months, my starter was not fed at all. I took it out last week, fed it, and after it sat out overnight it was ready to use the next morning. I made 4 loaves of bread that turned out amazing!

Great job, sis. You are such a help around the farm and home. I am going to have to try this, even though I live by myself. Question: can you gift a 1 cup starter to others and then just add 1 cup of water and flour to yours? How often could you share? Also, I have a lot of flour, but it is not organic and I want to use it first. Would it work? Also, do you ever have to add more salt after the initial starter.
My mom had a batch and she made the best pancakes and dinner rolls from hers. She has passed now, but with all the info on the internet, I am sure there are instructions.

Thanks for tutorial! I’m a newbie here. I missed the step between after overnight rise, to the 4 hr. rise! Did you split the dough? Put in bowls w/parchment paper, then, let rise again?

I bake gf regularly. It's a bit of a different process for gf SD and is very finiky. I personally don't get great results with gf SD bread. Just my 2 cents worth 😊
