@@HeartwayFarms you did a great job explaining the process. After you form the dough and you let it set out for 4 hours to rise, do you cover it? Also I’d like to make loaf shape instead of round Will that work? I don’t have a lid for my Dutch oven is that ok?

Your bread looks amazing. I have been making sourdough for a couple of years and one thing I do is to wet my hands, scraper and the work surface with water before I shape the loaf and it works a treat to stop the dough sticking where it shouldn't!!!
Great Job. I have been making homemade bread for years using store bought yeast. I never knew how easy it was to make sour dough bread, and starter. Wow! I will make some soon. Thank you for the video.
What a great video! I've found that I can leave my sourdough starter in the fridge for a long time without feeding it. While I was sick and unable to bake for about 2 months, my starter was not fed at all. I took it out last week, fed it, and after it sat out overnight it was ready to use the next morning. I made 4 loaves of bread that turned out amazing!
I did exactly what you said follow the directions my sourdough bread tasted good but it didn't look good like yours I guess I'm going to have to try it again thank you and God bless
I just found your channel and this video is wonderful..could you tell me what Dutch oven your using and the size!! Thanks so much..looking forward to binge watching your channel
Great job, sis. You are such a help around the farm and home. I am going to have to try this, even though I live by myself. Question: can you gift a 1 cup starter to others and then just add 1 cup of water and flour to yours? How often could you share? Also, I have a lot of flour, but it is not organic and I want to use it first. Would it work? Also, do you ever have to add more salt after the initial starter. My mom had a batch and she made the best pancakes and dinner rolls from hers. She has passed now, but with all the info on the internet, I am sure there are instructions.
Thanks for tutorial! I’m a newbie here. I missed the step between after overnight rise, to the 4 hr. rise! Did you split the dough? Put in bowls w/parchment paper, then, let rise again?
I'm so sorry, I'm not quite sure what you're asking in this question. I'm pretty certain that I included all of the steps in this video and I'm not quite sure how to help out I'm so sorry. If needed you can try contacting us directly. Thank you 😊

I bake gf regularly. It's a bit of a different process for gf SD and is very finiky. I personally don't get great results with gf SD bread. Just my 2 cents worth 😊
Ok. I'm back after following your sour dough starter recipe 👍
Gotta say, I'm digging this channel!!!

Did you feed the starter the morning you were mixing up the bread?
Could I use the portion that was to be discarded and make a second batch? Maybe start with a much smaller amount?
Can I use my metal bowls or do I need to get glass bowls?

@@HeartwayFarms Ok Thanks and I liked and subscribed.
Does this recipe make 2 loaves ?
Does this make 1 or 2 loaves of bread?
You can either make one large loaf, or two smaller loaves.
Can you cut the starter in half (1 cup instead of 2)? There are only 2 of us.
How often should you feed your starter?
Could you use gluten free flour for the bread??

Do you oil your pans?
You skipped that part.
You've got such beautiful hair what's your secret, thanks for a great video
