Thank you for another fantastic video Although I live in Leeds, it's been a while since I visited the area in the video. I recall visiting the stores in the 80s with my grandma. Danny used to frighten me as he always bellowed out a song just as I walked past him.
Thank you for the memories! As a teenager I used to go to C & A often for some 'with it' wear for my Saturday nights out. My now husband and I used to go to Whitelocks for a drink after doing amdram at the YMCA, then catch the 10 p.m. bus home.
An interesting video, 9:24 I can’t recall HMV being there, the last I can recall is when it was in the Schofields centre (or whatever it became) in the late 1980’s / early 1990’s Having said that I’ve rarely frequented the city centre for around three decades and only visited the trinity centre once in 2014
I remember hmv been there but it was a tiny shop, I used to go every thursday with my dad when he finished work 😊 think that’s why it moved further up for more room tho
The Trinity development was new to me on a recent visit. I was amazed how much Leeds had progressed. Although places like The Calls seem to have slipped backwards again and we’re very quiet and unused.
I would disagree about the calls. It is mainly flats/apartments down there now. I like the cobbled street and the peace and quiet. It must be a pleasant inner city location to live in now
@@GeogJuice The Trinity “For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father (Godhead), the Word (Son), and the Holy Spirit (A Person); and these three (Three Persons of the Godhead) are one” (There is only one God/A Thrice Holy God). 1 John 5:7. NKJV
Is my memory playing tricks on me, or does anyone remember a lovely little cafe in the original burton arcade at the thinner side? I seem to remember it being mock tudor and red, white and black....
That brought back some memories of Trinity Arcade! Great to see it again. Always remembered the old escalators that ran inside
Thank you. I remember them too. Sadly there aren’t many photos around of them to match our memories
Thank you for another fantastic video

another excellent and informative video. I remember the old arcades of the 70s and 80 including the Leeds United shop, Habitat and C&A
Thank you Alan
Such a transformation. In a matter of 50 years to have 3 different characters to the street.
Absolutely. Thanks Stephen
Always like your videos on leeds history. Ever thought about making one on the lost village of knostrop now cross green industrial estate.
Thanks for the tip David. I will add it to my list and look into it

Shocked about The Calls, last time I went (1970s) it was a bustling place, with many different shops and a nice waterfront.
Great stuff as always
Thank you
Thanks for showing us Trinity Church interior. What a beautiful old building. I’m glad it wasn’t pulled it down.✝️
Thank you. I agree.
