Great idea for a project. Give that S-Famicom a good dunk in the bath. I would have gone with that boxed version because I'm a sucker for boxes/art.

I'm so glad you picked up the graffiti console 😂 But there were so many accessories that I haven't seen before. Definitely got your work cut out cleaning the console up but I hope you keep the messages if you can.
I will see what i can do. Maybe take a poll on if i should keep the graffiti or loose it. Either way its gonna be a fun mod for sure. Glad you got a kick out of it.
Hmm, looks like that SFC was drawn on by a girl (Megumi), and there seems to be references to someone else (Maa-chan). I think there was a similar PS1 or other old console make the rounds on Japanese twitter a couple months ago. You should post a pic, maybe the original owner or friend will see it.

Fantastic finds Scruffy! If ya get the chance, you should do Sega Saturn next. I've heard that they are more common in Japan than in North America.

It was fun seing a hunt for parts! It´s something you can do when you have plenty of time in Akihabara. The Rocketeer though, ugh! I bought a cheap cart some ten years ago and was luckilly able to sell it. I´d be better off with one of those baseball games...

Yeah, it’s almost impressive how boring the game ended up being considering the subject matter. I won’t spoil it, you’ll get to experience it yourself:) Just a helpful tip: on stage 1, watch the altitude meter, not the main graphics
I got 8 super famicoms with 14 controllers from buyee for 38 euro. Shipping was 98 to Ireland. Customs and vat 25 % so it works out 20 euro each roughly.

Outstanding video. I have only subscribed a few months ago but this is my favorite upload so far. Looking forward to the refurbishing process to come. Excellent idea for a series where you do this exact thing but with various consoles.

hmm those controllers are compatable with american stuff? Even the av cables? Seems like a crazy good deal, I kinda want some japanese consoles sometime. As long as I can get into the game and not have to read very much.
Controllers are definitely compatible. There are a plethora of super famicom games that are worth picking up that require no japanese knowledge. Definitely worth getting
Slightly darker image = old capacitors. Should be an easy fix.
Hope so my track record with surface mount caps is not so good but hoping for the best
If the SFC motherboard is SHVC-CPU-01, replacing the 4 capacitors C57 to C60(100uf/6v) will solve the dark video issue.
Sweet thanks for the tip ill definitely keep that in mind. Did it seem dark to you? I guess ill have to do a direct comparison with another sfc.
