Yes… sewing on binding is intimating….
Making sure you have the right size binding and taking your time are two essential keys to mastering this task.

Thank you! Its always nice to see how other sewists do it since sewing its pretty solitary... what fabric did you use? I like that chunky stripe! Im learning a new to me coverstitch machine and I really like it, instantly elevates your makes. I start under the arm also but its because getting a seamless start and stop is still a work in progress.

I agree with this so much. I like to sew live for that reason too. It's nice to see people's hand placement and stuff.
I used a cotton lycra--a thicker one that has more recovery.

Have you ever used a binding attachment for your coverstitch? I’ve been looking at them and I’m thinking about buying one. Jw what your thoughts are 💛

So funny story… I didn’t know I had the foot until recently lol!!!! I plan on trying it!

Yes!! Thank you for this! May be a silly question, but is the binding woven or knit? I’m assuming knit since the main dress is knit, but I’ve been overthinking this for my own project 😅

This is a great question! It’s knit. I used a fabric that had a similar weight to the main fabric.

Thank you so much! I recently started sewing with knits and I appreciate how approachable and laidback your content is! 💕

My binding never matches position on the front and back so I never so I never do it.

      Hmmm... What do you mean?

    • @Sandiegeek

@@AaronicaBColeCo The same happens to me. The fact when it's time to top stitch the binding on the front of the garment it does not catch the binding on the reverse side because somehow either the back side it's a tiny whinny less wide or it shifts during sewing and don't notice until the end. 🙂

@@Sandiegeek yes this is exactly what I mean.

@@Sandiegeek ahhhhhh! Ok. If you notice with ready made bias tape (the woven kind), one side is typically longer/shorter than the other. The shorter side is one that you topstitch on so you can catch both the inside and outside stitches. I didn’t do that here because I can normally catch both sides with my coverstitch but when making your own, that’s something you can do too so you can catch both the inside and outside pieces.

@@AaronicaBColeCo Thank you and that is a good trick. I never used ready made bias as I like my bias to be from the same fabric as the garment. 💌 Since I was having issues, I would use the bias foot to catch both sides at the same time with the fabric sandwiched in the middle, but I always wondered how other people were successful with the way you do it.
