- Simon Van Der Craats is Regenrating leased land. He is rebuilding a business for himself through sustainable grazing practices. A long and storied career in the army has taught him to adapt and persevere. His recent COVID related business losses have barely slowed him down, and paved a way for him to become a grazier on leased land. I find out all about his story, and help him build a new fence to support this great work all while enjoying Leongatha, one of the prettiest and most fertile parts of Victoria.

Very cool to see Greg Judy ideas in action in Australia 🎉
I always admire the tenacity of some people to invest in agriculture, not with out risk, full respect.
Thank you for your service Simon. My twin brother and I are ex station hands (ironically from Twins Station in SA) and both Vietnam Veterans. I now live in Townsville (for 40+ years now) and only travel to Victoria for reunions. As it turns out they have enticed us down for a reunion in Bendigo in mid August (secretly,, we just want to visit the BushMaster factory in Bendigo and my old unit (now Army School of Transport) in Puckapunyal).
Simon! We used to hang out at Crossfit norwest mate. Glad to see you kicking some goals.
Very inspirational. Having generous people goes a long way.
Thanks for sharing Simon & Tim. Any chance of an update at some point?
Cheers Chaps.
I’ll ask mate.
Great to see the intersection of my two most favorite RUclips channels, Greg Judy and Tim Thompson.
Look out for more content like this. Even though it’s not popular…..
This is really cool story! I don't understand why three or four percent of the population doesn't leave the business world get small tracks of land and start growing food for small communities. I know it's a pipe dream
A great video love Simon’s approach to farming and life.
Farmer would maybe like a wife..or at least someone decent to share his journey.
Great to see such a variety of subject matter, any chance of doing a segment on portable generators?
I’ll think about that one. Probably a good idea!
Hello Tim.
You would think that the land owner would have the fore thought to perhaps pay for the fence and follow the contour of the waterway in order to protect it for future. Industrial or not. Regen is the future for farming.
My partner and I have just started our farm journey using similar principles and loving it. One of the products Greg Judy strongly recommends is a ‘Timeless Fence Post’ which is basically a non-conductive (strong and UV stable plastic) star picket. We haven’t been able to find anything similar in the Australian market. Have you come across a product like this, Tim?
Gday Sam, Jason from RUclips channel ‘’Udder farm’’ sells the timeless fencing products channel also about regenerative farming
The plastic picket type posts I have tried are inferior. Try plastic forest posts ruclips.net/video/rBdFL_xAbOY/видео.html
Good onya great man.
One of my heros
I allow a Vietnam vet run his cattle on my 40 acres for free ,

Does Simon have a RUclips channel ?
Don’t think so mate
