Used boer goats to control blackberries on difficult to manage land at our place in the past. Massive success for us too!

Hi Tim, all your videos are always very informative and you teach us heaps. This video must be a game changer to all country folk that struggle with weeds and especially Blackberries. Thank you Tim and thanks to the goats. Cheers steve

Good onya Tim. We're using goats to help control blackberry on a very steep block in NE queensland. People around us spend hundreds of thousands on sprays and they keep coming back anyway. We're experimenting with physical removal of root balls as our problem is not as intense as the site in this video. Excellent work in using your voice to spread this message. Goats are excellent weed control when well managed!!!
Any idea what panels they were using as fencing?

Goats are great for blackberries I used to hire my goats to small farms to keep weeds under control ❤️

Little mobile factories, fixing the problem one end and providing fertiliser from the other end. In saying that I'm guessing you would try and have the goats in before fruiting so they are not spreading seed in their pooh or do their stomachs destroy the seeds. Cheers man, I always learn something from your videos. Double thumbs up

The good thing with goats is that they break the seeds down before they poo so they don't spread like other creatures

Cheers mate. I’m told that there is very little viable seed in Goat’s poo.

Love seeing goats at work. Wish we had some around here to help with all the invasive! My question is why you used that horribly expensive and heavy fencing instead of Polywire electric fence with plastic step-in posts and a solar charger? Way easier to install and transport, never mind less costly. I've never seen folks using that kind of panel fencing to hold goats back. Gives me a few ideas, though....

Public land and requirement of funding. Fence also not easy to climb

my biggest problem is lantana do you have any advice on removal on a fairly slopped site, have been considering goats but worried that lantana will kill them. love the videos

Yeah I wouldn’t use goats for lantana but stand to be corrected. Try this video ruclips.net/video/HhcIwh9LV4M/видео.htmlsi=LIm0saI9Yt7nL5QY

Spraying also works betting when the plant is actively growing, which would have been triggered by the goats eating it back.

Good morning, Tim, excellent story, we were considering using goats here until we met a lovely family at Farmfest who were there with the goats. The Big buck at the entrance to their display was at his finest for mating and the smell was horrendous. There was nothing I could do to convince my partner that we wouldn't smell him once home. Anyway, we are now looking at Camels. Cheers

I think you might find that camels stink too! 😂

And you don't need a buck! Healthy goats don't smell if you don't have a buck around :D

I have contacted a few goat herders but they are too busy with council work in SEQ 😢
