I have a mainstay electric kettle. As you could clearly see in this video, there is an opening at the bottom for the power supply. Also, there is an opening inside the kettle at the back top. That opening goes all the way to the base, where the power connection is. steam goes into the opening at the inside as the pot boils. As it turns off and cools, the steam that went into that hole cools down to condenses back into water. Then the water runs out the bottom of the pot all over my counter. So I have a constant puddle of water around the base of the kettle. I like the kettle, but not so much the water everywhere on the counter.
Same problem here too. I'm baffled by the presence of a condensation reservoir at all, let alone one that drains directly to the electrical components.
We have this a few weeks, when we heat water, the base becomes covered with water. What is leaking I see nothing wet when looking through the opening in the bottom where the kettle plugs into the base.

Hard to say. I was going to suggest putting some food coloring in the water to more easily see where it is leaking but I'm not sure if that would stain it. If you are sure it is leaking, you might just try exchanging it for a new one.

Ah so its not a leak per se... it served me well through college. Might be time to upgrade.
