I'm so glad my brother ordered Pizza 🍕 Hut 25 yrs ago. The food came with a PS1 demo disc with several playable games and several non playable ones. Among the NPGs was Metal "Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action"... and it changed my life. I can't go into too much detail but let me just say; it changed the whole trajectory of my life. Thanks bro.
I had a similar story where i only discovered MGS through VR missions which i bought from a local store, i thought that was the whole experience but then weeks later when i told the store guy i enjoyed it he said it's just a tutorial for the actual game which is like a movie, i was in total disbelief and what followed was the most cinematic gaming experience that was never topped afterwards.
@@kar12894as a kid with the ps1 copy I was stuck with the VR missions and always wanted to try the actual game, I’d go into the extras and watch this trailer over and over thinking about how the game would be. Forgot about it for a bit till I heard it may be coming to switch (for older games it works for me since I can bring my switch to work and play during downtime). I finally came around to it and got the chance to play it through the Master Collection and I’m absolutely loving it
This trailer is absolutely amazing. I bet people who watched this trailer over at Tokyo Game Show back in 1998 were feeling ecstatic and couldn't wait to get their hands on the game which came out that very same year I believe. Oh how I wish I was old enough back then where I could of enjoyed the hype surrounding the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 1. I'm glad that this game was a big success and cheers to everyone who enjoyed the game including me.
it's interesting to compare the Japanese and American trailers. The Japanese trailer is full of story bits, character moments, drama, tension. It's practically a summary of the whole story like you'd see in a "previously on..." recap. The American trailer (albeit using Japanese audio) is full of gameplay, not so much cutscenes. Lots of sneaking around, shooting, choking guards. Showing off what you the player can do in game. - The Japanese trailer has "The Best is Yet to Come" playing over it, emphasising the deep emotional narrative and character interactions. The American trailer plays the action theme of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, again, emphasising the action and pulse pounding thrills and excitement. - The Japanese trailer ends with the chilling visual image of what might be a nuke while Liquid and Snake yell at one another dramatically. The American trailer ends with the player looking up as Metal Gear steps on them. - I'm not saying either one is better or whatever, just highlight the interesting differences.
Best game ever made!
Imagine being in the audience at Tokyo Game Show 1998 as this trailer starts to play, unwittingly watching a piece of gaming history.
Ahh, how I've missed this trailer! Thanks for posting it up.
This is undoubtedly the best trailer for a videogame ever made
No doubt at all, brother.
2 was better, 3 was arguably better, 4 was also incredible.

Does anyone know what the Cyborg Ninja is saying?
“I’m like you. I have no name”
Dude. How the fuck are they gonna make this into a Hollywood movie? I’m so scared.
I’m thinking the same thing. This already was a movie! Excited to see Oscar Isaac though
