I wish you did a video on Ron Ashton's soloing and lead Id love to hear you play some of the solos from self titled and funhouse and break them down for us!
Thanks! I'll try to do a video specifically on Ron Ashton. I've got a ton of Stooges stuff here, too: ruclips.net/p/PL3VpiEK2u7s9yaVzcmYuCZP81seOFvqH7&si=aVsH_NenS3tNXGLN
Great as always, I've recently had to start playing guitar in a band as the guitarist stepped down and your videos have helped me no end, got gig number 6 up next weekend since I've started playing
I like using "micro chords", often just the 5th or octave of a barre or open chord with a 3rd or 7th, creating harmonic complexity without things sounding muddy. Punk lends itself well to interesting chromatic progressions too like walking the root, 5th, or 3rd down to make all sorts of bastardized micro chords.
Absolutely! There is a ton you can do by breaking down these chords and a lot of times, less is more, especially if you have two guitars playing off each other.
Thanks! In this video I'm running a fake Gibson Les Paul (Chibson) with a Gibson P94 pickup in the bridge position. Through a Boss DS-1 distortion pedal. Into an early 1990s Fender Twin Reverb 65 Reissue amp. That's it!
Love the shirt. Thunders is without a doubt my favourite artist. He may not be known to many but the New York Dolls and the heartbreakers albums are just raw bones rock'n'roll 👌
@ScottGuitar I think the same Scott, walter and Johnny together made a great team. As did sylvain and Johnny. Billy Rath and Jerry Nolan were a great rhythm section. Bare bones rock'n'roll. I like the solo album so alone from 1978/79 had some great musicians play on that record, Peter from the only one phil lynott think lizzy steve marriott humble pie small faces packet of three. humble pie are also one of my favourite hard rock blues bands from that era. Amazing talented people unfortunately all gone now. Peter perrett from the only onest is still making records. Love your videos. If I had more time I'd watch them all.
I really like that dropping the root note out of the power chord.
I just never thought of it that way and now it’s an easy go to.
Like the P-90 in the bridge position. Nice!👏🎸🤘
Nice sound and good advice. Keep them coming, we'll keep watching.
Nice ideas, Scott! These are gonna be great helps to a lot of kids picking up the guitar.
I hope so! That would be awesome.

Still enjoying the Chibson I see.
@@aaronoid1 Yep! It sounds really good now that I put a P94 pickup in the bridge slot.
@ nice. Looks like it’s fairly easy to play also. I guess there are some diamonds in the rough when it comes to Chibson guitars.
@@aaronoid1 It seems like it is hit or miss with the Chibsons. I guess I got lucky on my first one!
