My dad felt the same way when the RAF ditched the RAF Marine Branch in 1986 he was a keen sailor in the Sea cadets as a kid and he was peeved because no recruiter had told him it was an available career when he got in (late 60's)
Brings back a lot of memories from my time there as both a Basic Recruit doing my Trade Training, and as a Permanent Staff member. 1989 seems a very long time ago now... best job in the world!
I didn't even know these guys and gals existed. Good on them! I'm sure they'll do their jobs well. It just goes to show that every job in the armed forces is necessary and makes them a well oiled machine.
I just watched the 1968 movie "The Battle of Britain" a couple of days ago with my daughter. Manston was prominently featured in the film. How sad to see it go. Many air bases in the USA have been closed in the last forty years and will soon be completely forgotten. Let's hope Manston won't suffer that fate.
Sad really , immigration centre now . Started my career back 1990 at Manston .BF13 was the course , been back and forth many a time on courses . Still in the job but as a civilian now . Crazy but i am actually sad that Manston has gone .

How did they manage to get a chinook fly by when the chinooks are always making the excuse on every exercise that they cant make it for whatever reason, and whos idea was it to march in firefighters kit haha.
Watch the firefighter recruits during their training here👉ruclips.net/video/fYAfz810_K8/видео.html
Firefighting training either civilian or military should never be privatised.
I agree but it's already happened.
I didn’t even know this bit of the RAF existed these videos are always very informative and interesting

I was there many years.remember setting light to an old fusalag for practice, now air pollution rules would never allow...
You sure it seems that it is still allowed I thought there was a video off them doing that
@@adamatch9624 I thought with the pollution laws maybe not allowed, this was in the late 80s
@@whiteonggoy7009 Still allowed, i'm sure it's.been assessed and reviewed a few times but they still allow it for firefighter training
@@GarethRules thanks you're reply mate
Well done Al Wells. Glad you got sorted mate.
I thought they passed out as in fall unconscious.....
Airmen have passing out parades, officers have graduation parades 🤷♂️
The RAF website still says Manston is the place for training
Technically, As there is still a squadron of Air Cadets based at Manston there is part of RAF still there
Army band at a Royal Air Force passing out parade 😬
Lossie and Marham are about all that's left now. It's all going to get even smaller soon. Nothing left. Sad, sad...weep weep.
Congrats

Lmao. Why are they wearing their firefighting uniform on parade. 🤣
Not a lot of diversity...
Diversity shouldn’t be any part of it, should be best person for that job end of.
and that’s a problem why?
