  • Old Louisville is a non-distiller producer of whiskey and bourbon in Kentucky. With premium price tags and only old juice, are these bottles worth picking up with your money? Let's chat about it in this distillery highlight.

I wanted to like Old Louisville but they are very expensive and I think they are thin/shallow across the board on the nose, palate and finish. The price is the price given they are sourcing. But it seems they are trying to be a four gate or old carter type producer and those producers have it down with blending and finishing. Even old carter has scaled back their releases because the whiskey bottom is starting to fall out and the average bourbon/whiskey lover can't afford it anymore. Good honest review.

Very Similar to Barrel King which is also MGP juice and they store and blend it though, they don't generally do single barrels.

I will say on the Cognac finish, it’s still in the barrel, and finishing for another 6 months after that bottle, right now the intention is to bottle in December. This was really a bottle to check howmitnis now, and if I have enough self control, compare it to the finished product 6 months from now!
As far as ready to drink, the French oak was a banger to me on the rickhouse floor.

I did get to have their batched rye release recently, and it was very good.

"US$100 is a lot for a bottle of whisky"
Wait till you get around our current excise and the price of decent bottles in Australia....:(
