Quiet watcher for years, but breaking the wall the internet to reach out and thanking you for sharing your person and thoughts. Always appreciate your takes and attitude on live and living :)
I enjoyed this a lot: your face, your brain, all of it. Also SOLD on the ministry of time, get it on my shelves now. I think that hagseed book was mine but I think I gave it away without reading it so I'm glad it got read! x
I found 'Quiet' such a therapeutic book for me in trying to understand my own introversion and social anxieties. I'm so happy to see you back on RUclips. You should never worry about how you look or come across, you, as a person are inspirational to so many and we all love your energy, honesty and integrity which is a natural reflection of who you are. Enjoy Mexico.
As someone who can relate to a lot of what you said in the first 10 minutes I'm nonetheless really grateful that you pushed through the incredibly difficult and frustrating feelings to post the video. Also your hair looks beautiful
Thank you so much! I am feeling much better on the other side of posting because I'm really enjoying reading the comments and making another video feels less daunting. So hopefully there will be another soon :)
N.K. Jemisin is probably my favorite fantasy author right now. So glad you have read the Broken Earth series. Always thinking about you this time of year as you've made some of the best videos about the strange mix of magic and sadness of the season. Take care as always.
I feel like I haven't seen you in a while. I don't know if it is just that my RUclips algorithm hasn't been feeding me your content or that my watching and your uploading haven't been lining up particularly well, but I was so excited when I saw a new video. Bonus that it was a particularly bookish video as well! I'm not sure if you've already read it (I did check your storygraph and didn't see it listed), but based on how you were talking about The Fifth Season, I feel like you would really enjoy The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez. It's another fantasy book that I feel has an incredibly unique voice and structure. It's filled with Filipino lore and culture, and feels like a dream to read. I'm going to go add Hagseed to my tbr right now, as I've loved every other Atwood I've read.
So good to have a proper catch-up with book recommendations too. It's lovely to see you on RUclips. Thank you for everything unseen that it took to create and share this, and thank you for your honesty and integrity. Sending you lots of love.
12:05 Consensus building? Also, I do like listening to the way you unpack concepts and perceive things and then explain it, helps with my own understanding of the world and life.
@rosianna It happens to me too frequently. I forget that one thing I wanted to say, eating away at my soul until it comes along and slaps me in the grey matter at 3am some time later.
Love to see you talk about books❤ And totally get what you share at the beginning. Personally, I always have found you very insightful so I'm glad you faked it till you made it. We are lucky to have you online!
The broken earth trilogy are my absolute favourite books - so happy you enjoyed the fifth season and had a good experience reading it through. (ps: sending you so much love for the first half of the video - I’m in a kinda similar situation and the financial stress is spiking my anxiety, even though I know I’m in a privileged situation and will be okay in the end)
it's been a difficult month for me, so this video came at a perfect time. I always appreciate your honesty and thoughts in general. Also Greta & Valdin is a fave book of the year for me. Got me out of a reading slump (briefly, unfortunately I am back in the slump now)
Sorry about the slump and the difficult month, hope you find a way out of it soon. It is always lovely to see you in the comments, thanks for being here after all this time.
Good to see you, Rosianna! I just finished Doppelganger and I loved it. When she started I wasn't sure how much one can say about this situation, but she really skillfully connected it to the broader issues of politics, society and fear/hatred. What's stuck with me is that when ani-science/-education/-etc people talk about something, some conspiracy they've created, it's because there is something regarding this issue that is worth looking into that maybe the left isn't paying attention to. However, I was disappointed by Ministry of Time 😅 I feel like the love/personal part of it and the Ministry part were not in balance and at the same time both were underwhelming.
Doppelganger was so impressive! I didn't know much about what it was about going in or even who she was referring to at first so it was a well revealed moment that as you say she then connected to this broader approach so skillfully. And then I realised I'd definitely mixed up Naomi Klein and Naomi Wolf in the past...my apologies, NK.
When you said "there were three different..." I definitely heard leeks and leaks, even though you were clearly talking in vicinity of homeowner worries and was momentarily SO seated for the story about your friend staying in your flat with three alliums.
also like hearing about student living reminds me of how when i started following this channel neither one of us was in university yet (2008). i remember your content about it a little and it feels like a lifetime ago
Nice to have some financial realness! Uni was a skint time. I still haven’t read hagseed, thanks for telling the premise again. I do have to put you on 0.8 speed so my brain can keep up with your accent lol. Will there be more poetry cooking videos this winter?
I hope so! Not in December or January (although I'm hoping to make a gingerbread house at some point and may film that) but maybe in Feb/March, depending on how things are going. I just finished a livestream that I will probably do more of as I enjoyed it a lot :)
Hi Rosianna! Warmed my heart to see this video pop up today. Im wondering if you'd feel okay being followed on Storygraph? Im quite active on there (for a change!). I was a member of Life's Library and your selections often ended up being my favourites (no offense, John!)
Hi! Do follow me! I mostly just track my reading and don't write in depth reviews but I really enjoy it :) I am even tempted to do one of those good old reading wrap ups later this month... & I love to hear that so much! Life's Library feels like a really precious moment in time.
@ I’ve watched for a looooong time and always find your creations to be soft and inviting and deeply thoughtful. I appreciate you sharing all that you do!! Take care xo
Thanks for a lovely video as always. I love the way you talk about books. I was one of the people who messaged you about struggling with Obelisk Gate and I actually gave up on it. But this has convinced me to go back and try again with it. I really loved The Fifth Season so I wish I had persisted.

I read this comment the other night as I was about to fall asleep and it moved me so much. Thank you for being here ❤

Your comment on here gives the real 2012 RUclips community vibes.
Thank you Leena! I also do think it was yours, in my mind I can see it in the top of your shelf. It has been read and it has been loved.

Thank you James, and thanks for joining the livestream just now! I appreciate this perspective on Quiet and look forward to finishing it :)

classic RHR video I now have five tabs open with possible TBR adds and also I’m smiling. Happy Dember! Good things to come I hope and intend
I truly love to hear it! Happy Dember to you too.

Haha yes I remembered it during the edit and added it over at 12:10. It was indeed consensus building.
& thank you! Such a lovely thing to say.

Highly recommend the audiobook of The Ministry of Time, the two narrators do a really great job!
Thank you, lemonlemonster.
Agreed! That's how I read it, and I looooved it. Very quiet and measured.
Oh great! Will put in a library request so I can reread it through my ears :)
Great to see you back ❤

So many leeks just growing out of the walls. Only so much leek and potato soup a girl can eat.
Apology accepted 😉
phew!!!!!
Soooo lovely to see your face on here again 😊 I’m looking for a good read for December so perfect topic too.
Thanks for being here! I hope you find something you like.
So happy to see a video from you! :)
Thank you! Happy to be here.
before i sit down to watch this, i just wanna say i love your earrings

Thank you! They're from Oaxaca, one of my sisters got them for me a few years ago and they jangle so much haha
Oh Lorena, I so appreciate you being here for the long haul. So wild that neither one of us was in uni yet! 2008! What a time.

Thanks for watching! I am curious what you'll think about Obelisk Gate. It's definitely a very differently paced book, but I did like it a lot.
Hi❤
hi!
