The quarter inch hol for the scratcher...did u drill all the way or half way
Yes. You drill all the way through the tunnel. I was trying to shorten the video but should have should that the hole goes all the way through.
Nice. I'm curious too see how they work out for you in comparison to the traditional units.
This is my first set of scratchers ever so I will be doing an end of season review on my thoughts of these scratchers. I really don't want to think about the end of the season before it even starts so maybe I'll do a first impressions or midseason review first. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thank you I ground down an old 7 /8 inch wrench worked well. It would be a good thing to tell viewers that the view of your machine is the back. Good job super video
Nice. Thanks for the comment.
Hi Paisteboy.. thanks for the nice installation guide...question for you if you don't mind.. in your video, on the original bolt you took out, the length of threads looks a bit shorter than the new setup.. the threaded end or should I say the amount of threads going back in looks quite a bit longer than what you took out and on the back side of that big aluminum suspension bracket is a piece with a washer and a circlip attached to the end so the long 100mm bolt is coming in from behind into that. My 16 XS chassis Enduro looks the same as your sled so that area of suspension is the same. I just bought the same kit and the 2 bolts look about a 1/2' too long. Any insight would be great...thanks
I haven't pulled my bolts out yet( in case its wrong) so I can't compare but like I said is the same suspension as yours
Your suspension is the same other than the length. You have a 137" Enduro. The bolt is longer because it has to go through the spring and bushing of the ice scratcher itself. It will finish in the same place on the inside suspension bracket. The bolt head is also 1 mm smaller if I remember correctly. Hope that answers your question.
@@Paisteboy thanks and yes I get the spring bushing 137 ... what I'm concerned about... finishing in the same place and not bottoming out before its tight. when I put it all together and hold it up to my sled it looks like the bolt extends beyond where it should stop. I was sent the 860202267 so I called the dealer he says its the same kit as the 1430...both models fall under the same BRP directions. my bolt is 100mm and I have 1 3/4" of bolt left after sliding the spring and bushings on the bolt...any chance you or anyone still have the stock bolt and could measure it as looking up under my sled it looks like the original bolt could only be about 1 3/8" I probably should just pull my bolt and compare to what I have out but with my luck I wont be able to get it back in without swearing and bleeding :) I'm debating on whether to just send these back as I'm just not sure its the right kit thanks again
@Randy Jones
I can't find my original bolts so I can't verify it but if you are removing the original bolt to put on the new ones it shouldn't be that bad.
My table saw came with a thin 7/8 wrench so used that.
Thanks cool. Came in handy and saved you time and money. Win Win. Thanks for watching.
Wow you did very good in this video , did not skip steps and very thorough. I'm a total novice to snowmobiling and many other videos skipped steps but not you. Thank you for your video, I hope you have lots of others this is the first of yours I've seen. Subbed!
Thank you! I do have quite a few videos. I hope you like them. Thanks for subbing.
Great video! Gotta install my tunnel scratchers soon! This vid was perfect. Thanks!
You're welcome. Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
Hey paisteboy , great video , im aure your getting as excited as i am for upcoming season!! Just a question , would this be the same part number for a 2016 skidoo renegade XRS 800r? Im having hard time figuring out which part as the skidoo website has 2 different ones and when i input my model , it says doesnt fit...
They may be different because the Renegade has a longer tunnel. I'm pretty sure they're different. I think it's part # SKU 860202388. The Ski-doo website says it doesn't fit so I'm not sure.
Hey Pasitie Boy make sure u lift those scratches up when putting the sled in reverse or u will bend them or even break them off. I have the Duraflex scratchers they work great u can go forward and reverse without lifting them up. I would always forget to lift them then oops broke . Just a heada up great video .👍
Al Tomasik
The scratchers are designed to go forward and backward. Ski-Doo has a couple of videos on RUclips demonstrating that. That is one of the main reasons why I got this version of scratcher. I know that the rail mounted version of ones that look like these will bend if you go in reverse. Thanks for the thought though.
Al Tomasik not true
Have you posted a follow up review video? I’ve been wanting to install some and I’m to decide between these or some other aftermarket design. Are you happy with these?
I haven't made a review yet, but I love them and they work absolutely great! The carbide tips are replaceable so you don't have to buy new scratchers every season. Just replace the tips. I will put them on every sled I own. Thanks for watching Big Eric.
@@Paisteboy Awesome. That’s what I wanted to hear from an actual user. Love the videos. Keep them going.
@@bigeric5903 Thanks. I'll keep it up.
Looks like the tips are on backwards. Should be flush or you'll just wear off the scratcher rod. I just installed the same ones on my '16 Blizzard as well.

You may not have watched the whole video yet but I mention that during the video and actually had turned them around by the time I mounted them.
Dude, did you even watch the video?
Hey Great video. I’m installing the same buy scratchers on my Rmotion ski Doo. I found a fin 22 mm wrench to remove the upper arm retaining bolt. When I tried to loosen a bolt, it bent the wrench. Did you heat the locktite to loosen it before trying to remove the bolt? It just bent the third wrench I was using. And I was thinking the Loctite may be the cause.
No. It just sounds like your wrench isn't strong enough.
Are they suppose to have play when tightened?
Not really. The bushing should take up any play.
Hey Bud, I am installing those same ice scratchers on my sled today and when I tried to remove the upper arm retaining bolt. I used a thin 22 mm wrench at a ratchet with the 16 mm socket and it bent the wrench. Did you heat up the yellow Loctite before removing? I noticed you did not use the wrench during the removal of the bolt just went reinstalling
I used the Ski-doo 22mm wrench. No heat and it should loosen.
@@Paisteboy it seems the impact wrench you used was a lot easier. When I use a ratchet and the wrench, it bends the wrench, and impact wrench may avoid that. On the video when you remove the bolt you didn’t even use the 22 mm wrench.
I see you have the Ice Ripper track (with little carbide studs built into the track), so are the Scratchers really needed?
But great video!
The ice scratchers come in handy for two reasons. The first is to scratch up snow under the tunnel to cool the engine in low snow conditions and the second is to lubricate the sliders in low snow conditions. In my case i have them in case I see my engine temperature rising. My sled has a digital read out of the engine temp at all times so I can make that decision on the fly. I may have needed them for slider wear protection but haven't used them for that yet. I'll be checking my slider condition soon and will find out how they look. Video to come in the next couple of moths. I haven't used or needed them yet since my engine temp has always stayed in the normal zone since i installed the scratchers, but I'd rather have them and not need them than need them and not have them. I think if anyone does any kind of low snow riding, it's worth getting them for the price. Thanks for watching.
How did they end up working for you? My 850 runs hot when trails are hard packed and have been looking into getting scratchers.
They work great. I really don't have much of an issue with my sled running hot but when I've used them, these scratchers definitely kick up a lot of snow. Worth having. I have the ones with the replaceable carbide tips so you don't have to but new ones every other season. I have a link in the description if you're interested.
Great job man thx for the Vid I am installing the same set on my 2017 mxz x
Thanks and you're welcome. Nice!
So how did you find the ice scratchers after a season? Im thinking of installing these on my 18 GTSE.
They work great! If you get the same model that I have they will last a long time because you can replace the carbide tips when needed.
I saw you in a Tyler monagon vlog
Cool. Yeah. The scene at the snow show talking about snowmobiles. We may end up doing some snowmobiling videos this winter. Thanks for watching.
great video bud!
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Great video!
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Very helpful video. Thanks very much.
You're welcome.
Scratchers should be a standard part on a sled
Cory Coulter
We're lucky they come with carbides on them. Lol. They will never do it. These scratchers were 110 bucks.
Thumbs down is because of the Leaf Sign. What the He^* Does TML have to do with BRP?
I haven't ridden for 30 years so this may be a dumb question but what are these for?
Scratchers are to use when the snow is packed down to the point where the snow no longer kicks up and adds lubrication to the sliders and to the heat exchanger which is located under the tunnel. The heat exchanger cools the engine and is only on liquid cooled snowmobiles. Most snowmobiles are liquid cooled today. Also, they are used to scratch the ice to provide lubrication as well for the same reason. 40 years ago this would not have been needed and 30 years ago on some snowmobiles too because they didn't have liquid cooling and sliders, also know as hifax. Snowmobiles had bogie wheel instead of sliders many years ago.
👍👍👍👍

Need to clean that sled Bottom of them running boards are filthy 😆 lol
It's clean now. This was a few seasons ago. lol. Thanks for watching James.
Too much trouble, I will go with the running board mounted ones. Buy a wrench...…….NO!!!!!
Also NOT tunnel mounted there.
I really wasn't hard at all. You can probably find a cheap thin wrench at the dollar store.
They are called Tunnel Ice scratchers. It says it on the box.
Well kinda' , thanks for the video anyway

Sure thing. Thanks for watching.
