My wife came home complaining that her high beams weren’t working on her ‘18 Highlander. I told her YT would have the answer. Your video was the first and only one I watched. She now has high beams. Thanks.
@@stevenwelchtoyota I flipped that switch a few times and immediately thought it was an electrical issue but then my brain kicked in and said, no it’s something simple. And it was, a button. 😂😂
Renting a corolla that had the auto high beams turned on and was getting really frustrated when I would see a car turning and try to turn them off, only for the high beams to come on and turn off, making it look like I was flashing at the other car. Super annoying. Thanks for the vid!
Seems crazy that there has to be a video to learn out to run your headlights, lol, but obviously necessary. I just came here to find out if you could Disable the auto feature/before I bought the car. This reminds me of YEARS ago when I broke down on an isolated road. I was bored so I decided to read my owner's manual. There we instructions in there for how to roll your window up or down, lmao, and this was for a crank up window. Anyways, thanks for the vid!
I agree. I hate the auto high beams & the auto cruise control which slows my car down when I'm approaching it. Awful features to put on a car. Just let me do it myself.
Thank you; recently bought a 2023 hybrid Rav4 and was on a dark curvy country road and the auto high beams did not seem to turn off in that scenario. I blinded a few drivers not knowing how to turn off the high beams. Terrible feature and hopefully pressing this button will turn it off. Now, I need to figure out how to easily turn off the display and tune the radio (there is no tune button).
@@stevenwelchtoyota Question - The other day, on my 2019 Toyota Highlander, I attached my bike rack on my hitch- then after biking, picked up my groceries- (Walmart, pick up service), I was trying to remember not to push the button on my dash, to open the back hatch, because, it would bang into my bike rack. My question is, is there a way to turn this feature off? ( other than a stickie note ) thanks Laura
No kidding!! So handy. Just like vent windows, and floor vents! Somebody should come out with those again, and kids would think 'Wow. What a good high tech idea.' lol
God bless thank you very much for this. I had the opposite problem where I had the auto high beams on and forgot about the button to the left of the steering wheel!!

Lower the headlights! Had my 2021 Highlander Limited AWD in three times for lights being aimed too high. Finally had to adjust myself since dealership said they are in factory spec. Got tired of getting flashed by other motorists! Maybe this is a common problem?
Love my Highlander but my lights are aimed to low. Can't tell in city, but I'm on vacation and wow, I keep lowering my head like I'm trying to look under the tinted section. Going for adjustment when I get back.
I have a RAV4 2024, touched th interior door light, left and right light buttons (on the windshield) and last night noticed my dashboard lights for other functions weren’t on; I couldn’t see temperature control, hazard light etc features were all unlighted. Please help as I don’t know what I disabled because upon opening the door and entering my vehicle it’s dark at night!
is this the same for 3rd Gen Tacoma, thinking of getting one. wife has subaru cant turn Auto highbeams off and it drives me nuts. its way too sensitive. thanks!
Thanks for this video. I have the new corolla cross 2022. Does this work the same way? I was told I had to press the auto button on & then press the light handle towards me. Thanks.
Is there any usb or any other ports in the very back of a 2019 Highlander? I have a rear dash cam and have to run the cord to the second seats to plug it in. 😩
@@stevenwelchtoyota no 😞 I’m not sure it’s working or I’m doing it wrong. I tried in a parking lot during daylight in front of store window so I could see my vehicle and what lights were doing. @@stevenwelchtoyota I think I may have figured it out. Yes I did have button pushed. And also the arm/stalk pushed away from me. I finally looked it up in manual lol, all it says to activate is push button. Nothing about stalk. So will try again with just button pushed!
Auto high beams are a huge fail in vehicles. They "flash" oncoming traffic. Because they're stupid! Are humans so lazy they can't push a lever anymore? Plus, flashing law enforcement can get you a ticket.
Actually not true! Tried instructions you have here. Not to mention, nothing illegal should be in vehicles from manufacturers. Now let's talk about the between the lines sensors that will swerve you AT oncoming traffic. I was sent home in a new vehicle that wants me dead!

Just dropped by to say thanks. Your great wisdom helped me to have my 2018 Tundra high beams back on. I'm glad it was not broken.

Thanks. I'll give this a try. It's been frustrating waiting to the auto high beam to turn "on" or "off". Manual is the only way to go. Thanks again.
good deal
