I remember getting a stand alone copy of the film in early 2005 just before the remake came out. I didn't even know what a remake was until I saw it. This is a vintage classic to me. Great cast, great story, lovely songs, overall a great film.
I love this movie. It's just so timeless. When I see Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, I see Willy Wonka. Gene Wilder IS Willy Wonka. I bought the soundtrack for this movie and I enjoy listening to it. Kinda makes me wish I was a part of the project.
That's a really cool set. I used to watch Willy Wonka all the time when I was younger, such a great film. I have the movie on blu-ray but I would love to have that set too.
@mindfuqq I try to be descriptive of the movies and often give suggestions for what audience the movies would appeal to as most movies don't always have mass appeal. I am glad to hear you enjoyed Eden Lake and Pontypool. Pontypool is very underrated in my opinion. Well the more you name the better idea I can have of what movies to recommend you in particular. Did you like the Night and Dawn remakes as well as the originals?
I saw this movie years ago for the first time, and I've seen a ton of Gene Wilder movies since. Young Frankenstein, Stir Crazy, Blazing Saddles, See No Evil Hear No Evil, Silver Streak, and The Producers are all really great and I recommend you see them if you haven't already.
Just received this from Amazon today! Beautiful packaging like you said. I remembered watching this when you posted it and remembered about that sticker holding the Blu/DVD case closed.. I ever so gently removed it without anything coming off. I was waiting for it to start peeling off like you mentioned.. Whew!!!! This movie is up there in my top five of all time..
Thanks I appreciate that. I wish they wouldnt put those darn stickers on there though, glad you cut yours ahead of time though. I believe Gene Wilder is still indeed alive, I just imdb'd him. Wilder and Pryor made a hilarious team.
Wow! Great set Jay, I also watched this movie all the time as a kid back in the 80s. Such a fantastic film unlike the Tim Burton tragedy. Removing stickers seems to be an ongoing problem for me whether it be a new item like this or even when i have to remove the stickers from my rare vhs tapes and their sleeves.
I just got this set for Christmas and I absolutely love it! One of my favorite films of all time! Gene Wilder is perfect. I had the same problem with the little sticker too! When I started the video I was wondering if you were going to have trouble as well. It's a shame but the whole set is too great for that little flaw to take away from it. Love your unboxing videos!!
Thanks Chad, it is a great set despite the sticker issue and I am sure it made for a great Christmas gift! Wonderful film and set for it. I appreciate the support, have a happy 2014!
I absolutely ADOREE this movie. so i got this set as well. i cant understand why they only made 100,000 copies, that doesn't quite seem like enough. the wizard of oz has a lot more copies. But this set is AWSOME!!
Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory is one of my favorite films. I've probably seen it more than a dozen times by now. Really wanted this set. Short on cash due to Uncharted 3 and a new shelving unit, though. Lincoln Center in NYC will be screening this film in December. I plan on seeing it on the big screen for the first time! Favorite Wonka candy: LAFFY TAFFY.
If I get a DVD set that has a sticker like that on paper. I usually use a blow dryer to heat up the sticker and peel it off slowly and then I use Goo goon on to get the sticky residue off.
Awesome unboxing, Jay. I love this movie, it's one of my favorites. I wish the set wasn't so expensive or i'd buy it in a heartbeat. This is definitely the set i'll be buying though. 5/5.
@floridafyme I agree there seems to be a lot of high end box sets being released lately, Jurassic Park, Tend Commandments, Ben Hur, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory are just a couple that come to mind lately but there does seem to be a lot more than normal lately.
@WaxHeadroom Thanks my friend! How are you doing? They need to have this on tv more often, I never see it on tv anymore and it used to be on all the time, this is an absolute classic! Oh, I completely agree, I hated the Tim Burton take , tragedy is very fitting. I don't understand why companies put stickers on some things, especially this one. I remember those stickers always being a pain on the vhs tapes.
@WaxHeadroom I saw a really cool Texas Chainsaw Massacre vhs on ebay , I think it was german, I ended up losing out on it though but it looked awesome, love the design and look , so different than any cover I've seen. Oh hey and I saw you in Morvinoscopy's video I think it was in cinema wasteland, can't remember if I mentioned that to you before. I have yet to go to a horror convention, I definitely need to. Looked like an awesome time!
Nice, you got a great deal on it! Dated?! Perhaps some of the family aspects but the rest is still as imaginative and fresh as ever. I agree, timeless indeed, haha and I did not care for Tim Burton's take on it at all.
@mindfuqq What movies have I recommended that you didn't like out of curiosity ? I'm surprised you say you didn't like any of them as my tastes are pretty varied, but not everyone can agree on everything but also rare to disagree on everything. For a better idea of what to recommend you, perhaps you could list some of your favorite movies of all time and of recent years.
@MFerV2 I hear ya , I was lucky to have Det3131 send it to me, very generous of him and I am very grateful. Hey though by Christmas time there will probably be lots of sales going on.
@Rchattaway87 I love this set, very happy to have it in my collection. I do plan to pick up a couple Criterions, not as many as I would like but money is going to be tight this month. I will probably only get 2 . How about yourself, do you plan on getting some? If so which ones?
Great job on the video and unboxing. When I got mine I just cut the sticker to be safe. I agree they are a pain and not needed by any means sir. Btw, can you or anyone tell me if Gene Wilder is still alive? I know he is retired but you dont hear much about him and he deserves the recognition for the wonderfull films he has given us such as Blazzing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, all the great ones w/Richard Pryor (R.I.P.) and many more!
@dez36 What I plan on doing is taking the digipack section with the discs out of the box and put it with the rest of my collection and have the box on display. I do that with certain sets so I don't damage it going back and forth getting the movie out to watch it. I hear ya, I wish instead of doing remakes and re-imaginings they would just re-release the classic original. A film like this does not need to be remade or re-imagined, it's perfect.
@JoeBird76 hahaa I was very lucky to have Det3131 send it to me, he was very generous and I am very grateful. I love it and I love the movie. How have you been?
@jackrules94 It is amazing, even better than I was expecting. According to blu ray dot com it says the blu ray disc is region free. The set also has a dvd version of the movie and a dvd of special features, those are region 1 but the the blu ray of the movie is region free according to the site. Haha total nerdgasm, I love it!
@Absolutesublime1 I surely hope so. I love Willy Wonka. Favorite scene has to be where Willy leads them into the factory. Especially when all those silly contraptions make 1 ever lasting gobstopper. And the scene with the Candyman man singalong at the beginning. I wish there are places where they have a guy giving out free candy like that dude did.
@MoviesMusicNature Awesome price on it! Haha yeah that was a sad moment when that happened, but still happy with the set and it looks excellent on display. I don't think any sets like this should have stickers like this. My Scarface box set had the same issue.
@fsyeah I definitely think it's a great deal for the price, a blu ray, dvd and dvd disc of all special features, the awesome box, and all the extra bonus features, all make it a great value.
@MrRamone420 Definitely, I love the movie and the set. Hey Chris, did you see Human Centipede 2 yet? I'm going to do a review for it soon but curious to see your thoughts on it.
@Absolutesublime1 I have the Digibook of Willy Wonka so I put off buying this set but when I saw it at $27.99 I couldn't pass it up.. I really wanted the packaging and that book. The book looks spectacular, I paged through it and can't wait to read it one day.. That letter Gene wrote was interesting to read also..
Hah I thought cool beans was a British thing so I'm glad to know its transferable :D I love the interaction too I need more people to interact with mine :( people who aren't my mother haha!
@SpecialCollector89 it is a really nice set and I love the movie so I am happy to have this in my collection. I'm surprised you don't already have this one, you have everything! :p Love your awesome collection!
I just checked the back of this set on Amazon and it seems that the blu-ray is after all in 1:85.1 aspect ratio while the DVD is 1:77.1 aspect ratio. OHMYGOSLING! This set looks absolutely amazing... What region is it? Do you know if it's region free? Because I think I need to buy that... it looks so... EEEEK. I am having a total nergasm right here!
Ah dang! haha you got me, it's been a while since I watched this video and I was like what are they talking about ha. I thought for a minute maybe it said that on the pencil so I opened up the set to check and nope I just made a mistake, good call. I think you are the only one to call me on that, but I do know it is Snozzberry, just messed up there :p It's been a while since Hope you have a great day.
What I was saying about that golden ticket was that it was only given to a limited amount of customers I guess they wanted to do it just like in the movie by only giving it the first box sets but oh well still it's gonna be nice and still will want to look at that book. Fact did you know that Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory was filmed in Munich, Germany you may already by looking at those features but if you didn't you just learned something from your wildest imagination.
Hey hey, thanks for replying. People never reply! Right you are I did indeed watch on my iPhone, they need to make annotations work for mobiles humph. Alls good I thought for a moment I might be wrong. Cool beans thanks again :)
26,322 is my magic number. Bought when Amazon had a Gold Box Deal running for 27.99 with free shipping. Some would say this movie is dated. I think this film it's rather timeless and there will never be anything like it again. and no... Tim Burton's remake doesn't count.
Thanks about the warning when it comes to the stickers you do get those a lot on small catalogs sent through the and the are annoying but at least it's not four of them arr hate them!
@mindfuqq To be honest I'm not really a fan of a lot of the so called popular reviewers on here, except for the angry video game nerd who from time to time does film reviews, I highly enjoy and recommend his reviews but as far as the rest of the reviewers who have a lot of subscribers, I haven't found one I like so far. If you have any recommendations for reviewers or for movies , definitely let me know, I'm always open to suggestions.
Okay I rechecked your video and to see what this box set was like and will be buying it the only thing I'll probably won't get is that golden ticket as I read on Amazon and like I said earlier I'll need to be very careful about that stupid sticker on the DVD/Blu-ray set.
@mindfuqq Well it sounds like you did enjoy some of my recommendations then, so slight exaggeration before which was expected. I never recommended Call back I said it was average, nothing special, had potential to be decent and gave it a 5/10. A lot of times I will pick up a movie I haven't seen if it is very cheap, which was the case there and talk about it in an update, but I didn't care for Callback it was a poor man's Audition. So I don't recommend every movie in my updates.
6 years later and its still a beautiful and awesome set! I remember watching this years ago on my old account , cool throwback absolute! ;)
I remember getting a stand alone copy of the film in early 2005 just before the remake came out. I didn't even know what a remake was until I saw it. This is a vintage classic to me. Great cast, great story, lovely songs, overall a great film.

thanks for showing us the Willy wonka in the chocolate factory box set
RIP to the legendary Gene Wilder
I love willy wonka and the chocolate factory I am really big fan of Roald Dhal,s book,s and films :)
That's the most amazing box set I have ever seen!!!!! Wow
May he live on forever!
That's a really cool set. I used to watch Willy Wonka all the time when I was younger, such a great film. I have the movie on blu-ray but I would love to have that set too.
WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY is my # 1 fovorite film of all time !!!!!
Amazing! With all those contents and the fact that there's only 100,000 copies, it's only 45$ on Amazon! I think it's worth it.
That's awesome you won this in a contest! What contest was it? You are going to love this set
Thanks, I love the movie as well, still as great now and it is definitely a classic.
Thanks for the unboxing!!! The set looks amazing - I have to see the movie - i have seen parts of it - I have to watch it from beginning to end!!!
@mindfuqq
I try to be descriptive of the movies and often give suggestions for what audience the movies would appeal to as most movies don't always have mass appeal. I am glad to hear you enjoyed Eden Lake and Pontypool. Pontypool is very underrated in my opinion.

I used to watch this video when I was like 5, now I’m 13… Still a great video lol
Love this movie and set! The scene in the tunnel creeped me out as a kid though :p
I love this movie since I was 7 in 1991 the tunnel scene was creepy, better than the 2005 remake gene wilder was a better wonka then Johnny Depp

I'm looking forward to seeing two more great movies this year: The Artist and Tinker,Tailor,Soldier,Spy.
I just got this set for Christmas and I absolutely love it! One of my favorite films of all time! Gene Wilder is perfect. I had the same problem with the little sticker too! cool review dued, i love that movie, i still do, its a classic, i own one of the vhs versions of this movie. this movie rocks.

I have to admit that boat scene scared me as a kid too, even now it looks like a bad acid trip.
@WaxHeadroom
Thanks my friend!
5th favorite film of all time. Great video man.
@Mmaretti666
Yes it does rule, thank you my friend. It is a really nice set with some cool features.
@WaxHeadroom

Hey there i just ordered 1 of these for my niece and was just wondering what the measurements are for the golden ticket so she can frame it?
You mean Grandpa Joe right?
Nice, you got a great deal on it! Dated?! Perhaps some of the family aspects but the rest is still as imaginative and fresh as ever. I agree, timeless indeed, haha and I did not care for Tim Burton's take on it at all.

I do plan to pick up a couple Criterions, not as many as I would like but money is going to be tight this month. I will probably only get 2 . How about yourself, do you plan on getting some? If so which ones?
That is delectable. Am I wrong thinking high end box sets like that are being released at an increasing rate?
I just watched it not too long ago. The more I watch it the more I hate the remake that I used to really like. It's a really fun movie.
hey dude just started watching your videos and they are awesome!
Great job on the video and unboxing. When I got mine I just cut the sticker to be safe. I agree they are a pain and not needed by any means sir. What an awesome set!! Call me Mr.Jealous. lol
my favortie film of all time
@MoviesMusicNature
I thought the correspondence letters were really interesting especially the one from Gene Wilder, very unique and cool added bonus.
@JoeBird76
hahaa I was very lucky to have Det3131 send it to me, he was very generous and I am very grateful.
I love it and I love the movie.
How have you been?
Michael bollner 😢 augustus gloop ❤️❤️
He’s still alive isn’t he?
Awesome dude! I need to get that set! You plan on getting some criterions this month?
Never seen it, but I went ahead and ordered the set. The set looks amazing, indeed. Is the Blu-ray disc region free?
@insanepain101
They are on sale for $27.99 on amazon right now!
@jackrules94

Yeah I know it's snozzberry, I don't think I said snozzleberry though
@fsyeah
I definitely think it's a great deal for the price, a blu ray, dvd and dvd disc of all special features, the awesome box, and all the extra bonus features, all make it a great value.
@LittleGirlFromSweden
Definitely a classic, for me it is just as good as an adult as it was as a kid.
Hope you are having a great weekend!
One of the best movies
Very nice bro, I would get the set, but I'm on saving mode for X-Mas. Maybe if there are still copies after the holidays than yeah I will get the set.
@MrRamone420
Definitely, I love the movie and the set.
Hey Chris, did you see Human Centipede 2 yet? I'm going to do a review for it soon but curious to see your thoughts on it.
I like the movie

No worries! Keep up the good work
That looks really cool
This is soo better than the creepy new one with jonny depp
What did you think of the Tim Burton adaptation?
I ripped the paint off from the sticker in my unboxing video too Jay! That thing sucks! :)
i want this for christmas sooooo bad do u think there are any more left?
Hah I thought cool beans was a British thing so I'm glad to know its transferable :D I love the interaction too I need more people to interact with mine :( people who aren't my mother haha!
@Absolutesublime1 hehe Thank you very much!! I really appreciate it. I try to get everything, but it's so expensive *lol*
@SpecialCollector89
it is a really nice set and I love the movie so I am happy to have this in my collection. I'm surprised you don't already have this one, you have everything! :p Love your awesome collection!
Does each set have a golden ticket? Cause some of the sets ive watched unboxed dont have it
I just checked the back of this set on Amazon and it seems that the blu-ray is after all in 1:85.1 aspect ratio while the DVD is 1:77.1 aspect ratio.
But what I don't get is that Amazon did not advertise the features for the Blu-ray/DVD Ultimate collector's set just saying.
But thanks for mentioning it but I did record it on TV just saying.
I think you are the only one to call me on that, but I do know it is Snozzberry, just messed up there :p It's been a while since
Hope you have a great day.
Seriously though, with a set like this, that should never happen, pretty disappointing for a collector.
Twilight Zone rocks!
@Ceagle91
Definitely an all time classic movie, one of my favorites, LOVE it!
Gene Wilder is a great actor and perfect for this role.
7:28 Always tried to replicate that flip with an eraser when I was young… I still don’t know why lol
You can do itttt
@@Absolutesublime1 lol thanks mate
this set is fucking amazing i love it well worth the 50 dollers i paid for it
Thanks about the warning when it comes to the stickers you do get those a lot on small catalogs sent through the and the are annoying but at least it's not four of them arr hate them!
@mindfuqq
To be honest I'm not really a fan of a lot of the so called popular reviewers on here, except for the angry video game nerd who from time to time does film reviews, I highly enjoy and recommend his reviews but as far as the rest of the reviewers who have a lot of subscribers, I haven't found one I like so far. @Absolutesublime1 No, not yet. Still want to see it
i prefer the original to the remake but there both great films
3 people didn't know what a snassleberry was
@mindfuqq
Well it sounds like you did enjoy some of my recommendations then, so slight exaggeration before which was expected.
