My favorite place in the world, nothing in Disney World can match the magic and happiness of Disneyland

There is music in this loop from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which was released in 1968. Even though Disney didn't produce the movie they had an association through the Sherman Brothers. In any case, the use of commercially available tracks for background music is covered by an agreement with ASCAP/BMI that Disney would have had to pay very little if anything for.

This set of songs was on the in-room tv Welcome to The Disneyland Hotel in 1996. Classic including some outside of Disney music from the Sherman Bros in Chitty...😎

Wonderful. I miss the times of Ol' Walt. They should play the old loops now and then.

Not that I was alive at the time, but can this really be the "original" loop if it includes "A Spoonful of Sugar" from 1964? Or was there no BGM loop before 1964?

There's also Winnie the Pooh and Jungle Book music... which were made after Walt.

Actually, both films/franchises had quite a good chunk of his involvement.

The Background Music Loops first came to be in 1971 thanks to one Jack Wagner, "The Voice of Disneyland" There was very little pre-recorded music the first ten years or so of DL's existence. But as more rides were added and costs went up, the number of live music makers had to be cut back. And to save money, at one point, they did what just about every other business in Orange County including that 'other park' up the 5 freeway did - subscribed to a Background Music Service (Muzak was the biggest at the time} - Instrumental versions of hit pop songs, with a few cover of Disney songs here and there. Wagner though the typical 'elevator music' just didn't fit the mood of a Disneyland visit and offered to save the bean counters even more money by putting the Background Music together himself! What you heard at the main gate from 1971-1992 are selections from Disneyland Records, and others who had some tie to Disney in the past.

11:36 Roses of success from Chitty chitty bang bang (MGM)? I love this version though

IF that was played, which I highly doubt is the case, then Disney-MGM Studios might have begun the planning stages somewhere in the 1970's or earlier. A guy can dream.

Alejandro Ruiz Alcocer I noticed that too but the main street loop used to have songs from Oklahoma and music man. Those aren’t Disney movies.
