Interesting comparison there Jurgen. Yeah reissues always seem to have slight alterations to the originals. Yeah something live would have been a nice touch, but can't complain as it's a very nice box set.
Nice one Jürgen. Have ordered the Black Sabbath box myself, cause, unlike you, I don't have any of the albums before. Looking forward to spin them all. They should have done the albums like the originals. But as long they sound great...... Have a great weekend young man. Cheers. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
The Tony Martin era was when I came in with Sabbath, I always loved his voice. The songwriting on those albums is a bit different but very powerful. Apart from little things here and there I can´t complain about the boxset, I paid around 100 Euro, that´s ok for four LPs and some extras. Have a nice weekend yourself! I´ll start drinking now, hahaha...
Ah, the horse donkey dragon. My favorite animal! Love the comparisons! I was thinking of getting this one, since I absolutely love Headless Cross, Tony Martin is fantastic. Haven't really heard anything else of his though. I already sold my Overkill box set since I just prefer hunting down the individual albums, so I'll probably skip on this one.
The horse donkey dragon lives in Loch Ness... "The Eternal Idol" is my fave from the Tony Martin Era, the opening track "When Death Calls" is so f**king awesome! That one should not be that expensive... "Cross Purposes" is great as well, even a little "AOR-y".
Hi Jurgen!!! cool video and nice to see that long overdue Black Sabbath boxset..... btw i just heard and interview Phil Aston had with Tony Martin and he talks about "Cross Purpose Live" and other stuff/tracks that weren't included in this release...... cheers and be well
Eternal Idol deluxe edition CD only available on Amazon and Ebay with the Remastered studio album Tony Martin vocals and Ray Gillen demos on Sanctuary Records.
I haven’t really dived into the Martin era Sabbath stuff other than I love the Headless Cross. I picked up a unofficial copy of it for cheap late last year and it actually sounds pretty good.
That´s when I got into Sabbath in the late 80s, "The Eternal Idol" was my first "real" album after the "We Sold Our Souls..." comp. They played my hometown on that tour and there was a huge buzz about THAT satanic band playing our little Catholic village, hahaha... I HAD to jump on it, hehehe...
I haven't made any plans to purchase this one. Doesn't look like there's enough "extras" for the price to me. I do agree on "Forbidden". I've always liked that one too, even better than "Cross Purposes".
I don´t know if "Forbidden" is better than "Cross..." but it´s easily as good. I got the boxset for a really good price, otherwise I wouldn´t have bought it either. It was a bit more than 100 Euro, that´s 25,- for each record plus the box and the two "books", that was ok for me.
I'm only here for the HorsedragondonkeyNessie 😂. I passed on an OG press of TYR for £5 because I was new to values and discogs and the likes. The bonus feature feels wrong 😂
The bonus feature just felt right for ME, hahaha... Maybe I´ll keep doing that as a running gag, hehehehehe.... just to annoy everyone! I got the "Tyr" LP cheap as well, it was not because of the value, it was because I wanted it. Beware, the Donkeyhorsedragon lives in the UK, Loch Ness to be precise... it´s the most dangerous animal to be found in the western world!!!
This is awesome! The Tony Martin Black Sabbath stuff kills. Damn, no The Eternal Idol? that is one of the best!
I got mine on the 31st, and did an unboxing video as well. I went with the cd boxset. Im very happy with it. Sounds amazing.

When Death Calls is on the Headless Cross, right? It's funny because I already think HC is heading a bit towards a slight AOR sound at times.
Appreciated the bonus material. I’m sure Marty did too 😂
Hahaha... Maybe I should do a livestream? No talking, no reaction to comments, just cleaning up the mess after one week of spinning records, hahaha...

Tony should have done a remix of headless cross sounds a bit dated
The best album from Black Sabbath with Tony Martin is missing in that box: The Eternal Idol
I totally agree! "When Death Calls" alone kills everything that came afterwards! Can you call that track that Epic Doom???
