I kinda like both versions of this scene. The newer version show us that the rest of SEES not only Mitsuru understand the pain Yukari is going through. But the older version had one of my favorite moments of p3 when Yukari tries one more time to steal the Key but fails and explains that she also made a promise to the MC while holding his cold hand.

Still, even if the raw emotion of Yukari's grief of wanting to see Makoto again was toned down for this scene, I can really tell how much grief she's feeling after watching this scene a second time. Overall, Yukari is still the tritagonist of "Episode Aigis". Mitsuru comforting Yukari was my favorite part of the scene and how she gave Yukari a hug and let her cry her feelings out.

Yukari trying to take the key should have stayed in. It sucks that they removed it just because people couldn’t understand where she was coming from and they think she should overcome her grief in 3 days like the phantom thieves were able to in persona 5. @@mightymoon67911 Dude is dying, slipping from consciousness, and barely able to stand on his two feet. Yukari in og answer already said her piece about being by his side making her promise to him holding his cold hand. Saying that rooftop scene makes them canon is like saying Joker and Violet is canon because of their showtime, you're skipping a thousand steps there buddy.
2.Inheriting the wild card has nothing to do with romance, that is akin to a force of nature.
      3. Aigis is a mascot and stands as much of the face of P3 as Makoto, that means nothing towards romance. There are plenty Anime where the romance is literally a side character not to mention recent Reload art throws this statement out the window.
      4. What credibility do the movies hold when they don't even care about the other character developments just to shove Aigis and Ryoji in Makoto's face as if they are the only ones to aid his development, the complete opposite of the games.
      5. We're really just gonna sit here and ignore the fact Yukari is willing to sacrifice the world to see him again? That's not worth mentioning huh?
All of this is just bias bro. I get it, you like you're ship, but arguing canon romance in a jrpg is always gonna result in your downfall.

Aigis has few months of it
She had being with Makoto as her purpose in life just for Makoto to pass away
      She shut herself down
Aigis only didn't reacted in similar matter with Yukari because her feelings werent there anymore because they became Metis

    • @ShadowOfMassDestruction
      @ShadowOfMassDestruction 3 месяца назад +19

@@mightymoon6791 Your making the same arguments as the people who say Rise is canon because she's a simp to Narukami, like yeah okay, surface level romantic implication means canon romance in your eyes I guess. But I could name like five different Anime that does the similar rooftop thing. In fact, let me do a direct comparison.
Shinobu Oshino: Poster girl with the MC, Blond, immortal, is involved with the depressed "wants no friends" MC and his tragic past and the reason why he has his power, is not human and needs to discover her meaning for life and death, is by the MC's side at all times and she holds him in her arms as he's injured spouting how she will always be by his side and will carry on his memory.
Oh wait? Hold on... She's not his chosen lover? Wait, wait, he chose Hitagi because she's an emotional girl with parent issues but she is completely separated from those issues he has to deal with and that gives him peace of mind? Zaaamn son.
See, none of what you said makes anything canon. Love goes in all sorts of directions, it's not some stagnant predictable thing that's educated by a couple pictures and a scene. Aigis barely does anything throughout the story while Yukari is constant, the Aigis rooftop scene can be taken as "romantic sure" but it's to summarize the game's themes of life and death in a neat little package more than anything else.

I haven't played the original, but I would say this version also shows it. Throughout the Journey, she gets jealous of other girls getting close to Makoto even if Makoto doesn't romance her. Of course she gets jealous that Aigis is the one that was there in his final moments and "inherits" his power. And here it is shown she's willing to fight Nyx again and possibly doom humanity just to try to save Makoto. He literally meant the world to her and she was willing to do anything to bring him back.

After watching both versions, I think while missing Yukari grabbing for the key sucks, there are some parts I do like about this one more. I like how when she breaks down in this version, she has a bit of a tantrum, her animation has her throwing her arms, hitting her legs because she has so much anger. The reason she'd stolen the key from Aigis in the original was because Aigis hadn't shown her resolve, but in this version, Aigis is confident in her choice going into the fight, and Yukari can see that in the beginning, whereas in the original she states, "you don't know what you want to do with the key right? So give it to me!" Or something like that.
Even with the slight context changes, I still would have liked to see Yukari take it, seeing as she's desperate, but I don't mind this version.

old p3: aigis give me that key, im going to past and you cant stop me. cant you see I MISS him? i loved him far more than ANY OF YOU
this scene lacking yukaris anger and desperation really took away the impact from this whole story, not just this scene. which is unfortunate cause in the original, this scene had yukari showing all stages of grief.

I finished Episode Aigis yesterday, feeling like it was an overall great experience, with Yukari being the standout amongst the group. I thought the way Atlus handled her was awesome, you know, her having 10 years of deep emotional trauma and trust and attachment issues, only to have the only person she trusted and that helped her get through all her problems suddenly die, just to less than a month later get thrown in the same old shit you did for the last year.. That's obviously gonna fuck up anyone, specially Yukari, so I totally understood her (albeit flawed) point of going back. She just wants to be with Makoto, she doesn't care about anything or anyone else at this moment.
So imagine my surprise when I got online and saw people... Hating her? I was like have you not played the main game? The game explain all I said and then more, the DLC is just the crashout of her emotions dude
What's even funnier to me it's that people love Yukari in the main game, but somehow hate her in the DLC, when like I said, same character, just after she lost hope. I mean put yourselves in her shoes for crying out loud, she was the member of Sees that was the closest to Makoto, more than anyone else, it's like accepted that romancing her not only is the best romance option, but also the cannon one. Having this in mind, wouldn't you also want to go back to the one person in the world that made you feel like life was worth living? Even if you know the decision is objectively wrong?
The Persona Fanbase is weird dude, they can do a full 180 on a character only because "hurr durr she acts like a bitch"

Update: If that analogy didn’t work for everyone, then how about this: this is basically the equivalent of that Harry Potter Dumbledore asked calmly meme where Dumbledore asked Harry if he put his name into the Goblet of Fire in a calm and civilized manner, unlike the movie adaptation where he asks him angrily and threateningly which people see as an unnecessary change.

People hated this being changed? I honestly think this improves the scene since it not only makes Yukari more sympathetic, but doesn't ruin Metis in the process by not having her give forced exposition like she did before the fights.

i don't think the problem with this scene lies in the fact that she doesn't take the key (though i think that does make it somewhat more impactful)
i think the problem lies in the fact that she basically just says "so..." and then drops. on the fucking floor. i know aigis already told yukari her feelings but she wasn't tearing up or anything. they could've added a few lines to maybe not make this scene as impactful as the original, but at the very least not turn this scene into something awful

Yukari in The Answer was a great character. I'd dare say she was the best character in the game. I believed that 15 years ago, and I'll still die on that hill. The Answer had huge pacing issues in general and all characters suffered cause of it, but Yukari was great. I loved that we had someone in the party who was hostile. It always bugged me that a lot of people didn't like her in that game.
Episode Aigis Yukari is a bit blander as a character. I don't understand what they were going for with these changes.
I would recommend anyone who has never played this game, to play the FES version, and not this version. I would recommend FES over reload, as well. This was a disappointing remake. I regret dropping $70 on reload.

What a shame that they had to completely erased what made her so humane all because Persona's manchild fanbase has no understanding of writing and storytelling and thinks women have to be "approachable" and show no kind of negative feelings a human supposed to have.

@@genericname4168 As an og enjoyer watching it not happen was so incredibly jarring when I just see her unceremoniously drop to her knees. Not only does it feel unnatural to me but the impact is lessened a lot, I'm a person who LOVES flawed characters overcome their flaws in media. Yukari trying to snatch Aigis' key to Metis telling her that there is no point to having Yukari then slowly drop down in tears felt like she was defeated in every sense of the word. Here the scene feels like it's going off the script of a poorly acted play or something...
