Everybody has it: A gaming backlog. The pile of shame - A gigantic list of games, bought but never touched, that is constantly nagging at your conscience. For some, this is a steam account full of games you got on several sales because you'll 'get to it eventually' - for others, it's a literal pile of physical media lying around in their house. For me, it was both.
The bigger this backlog got, the more I started to think if I even needed to buy new games, or older titles that were on a great sale, since I knew I wouldn't play most of them any time soon. But hype is contagious, so I continued to buy - wanting to play all those games at some point.
Well, I still do, and by playing through the world's biggest backlog, I'll help YOU to decide on which games are actually worth putting on YOURS. Because not all games are made equal, and sometimes you just need someone else to suffer through them to save you the pain - and maybe give you enjoyment in their suffering.
You might think 'I don't even care about that many games, just show me the ones I wanna see' and you are completely right about that! It is kind of hilarious that such an old exploit still exists in the most modern version of the game. Figuring out that exploit as a kid, made the beginning of Diablo 1 such a breeze, because honestly the butcher was the worst. Even in my own run of a "modern" modded Diablo 1, the butcher was still causing some extreme anxiety. Kudos to Blizzard for making such a memorable, and PTSD inducing boss fight so early in the game, and still being able to ..trigger that feeling nearly 3 decades later.
When I first came across him in D1 I thought my game bugged out because nothing before ever really damaged me and he just eviscerated my rogue in a second
@@inouji the skeleton king Leoric was even worse for me later on. Attacks faster and you can’t cheese him the same way

Barbarians can actually do this, even though it's a bit harder than for ranged characters. There's a usable, albeit small, part of the hitbox where you can hit the boss, but he won't attack you.
Just try to slowly approach him and find that spot and you should be just fine!
@Inouji it didn't work out so well. Not many areas are set up so friendly lol. I did get him stuck out of range once. I spammed call of the ancients of a long period of time lol

You got lucky, then! Or maybe unlucky, depending on if you wanted to encounter him, I guess.
I haven't run into him in a while as well, so he seems to be decently rare!
i killed him with the barbarian first try just over powered him but yea hes super strong against any ranged playerss

That works, of course, but is very hard to pull off for some characters, especially pure melee builds!

@@inouji that's how i killed him in diablo 1, he couldn't open doors so just close the door and shoot thru a wall window/grate.

Okey then so the title of this video is a straight up lie then. "Any class and build" Shouldent that include full melee then? He clealry states this wont work in a melee build = title lie.
Hey Shiftry, thanks for picking up on that - but I think you're misunderstanding my words a bit here.
What I'm referring to when talking about it not working with a melee build is the kiting strategy I brought up in case you can't manage to trap him.
The actual strategy this guide refers to is doable with any build, because the Butcher is so big that your melee range can reach beyond the object you trap him at.
