Unrestricted access to beaches is a public right in Texas. But for the little-known, magical, and untamed stretch of beach called Boca Chica, that right is curtailed when SpaceX takes flight. Boca Chica uncovers the mesmerizing beauty of this fragile coastline and the fight for free access for its longtime visitors whose memories and spirituality are rooted deep among the sandy shorelines.

PBS Short Film Festival
The PBS Short Film Festival continues to elevate the reach and visibility of independent films and filmmakers from across the country. For thirteen years, the festival has showcased films about love, acceptance, family, strength, equality, friendship, loyalty and much more. The 2024 festival highlights “Story Time” as we celebrate the art of short form storytelling.
The beach of South Padre Island is just as easy to get to as Boca Chica beach.

i mean if it’s only one beach why not just go to the next beach down on the day it’s closed?
Because it's not about the beach. It's about being anti-rich. Since space launches are expensive, only the rich can do it, or the government. But the government is extremely wasteful. So in a sense it is a form to protest taxes for the rich.
SpaceX, with it's prices, has saved NASA's millions from launches they would have made anyway. Also, they are no longer dependent on Russia. This is just a piece hit.
Can't believe there isn't another beach , they close it for your safety .... It has to be located near the water also for your safety ...In florida , we cannot go to the beach near cape canaveral , for the same reasons ...
There are slow starts and then there is this one that starts in reverse. Life is short, get on with it.

Best of all, SpaceX uses a state highway to move heavy equipment. So the state gets to pay for the constant repairs and repaving required. Musk sure does love small government!
aaaand spacex pays taxes to the local government which in turn are used to... guess what.... maintain the roads

We are just one asteroid or comet impact away from loosing planet earth access. So maybe just stop whining and find another beach?

BS it is not sacred. There was a hotel and resort on that beach. And the last brattle of the civil was was there. And battles between Mexico occurred in the area of the Rio Grande.
