Can you just imagine what its like, to hold Eddies Beautiful Gretsch Guitar, It would be a Dream come true, Rest in Peace Eddie you can never ever be replaced.
I was kid my older sister bought, in very early 60s it was like gold to find then ,well it was played at the highest volume on the red n cream dansette major lol along with all those tunes, best days gor kids then
awh I didn't know she passed was beautiful humble lady, she is with Eddie in heaven ,Eddie made so many people happy ,funny I played ,something else by sharon today really enjoyed,I'd no girl to jive with, memories are fantastic, my oldest sister and our niebour ,where bout 15 ,and we lived Belfast northren Ireland, Easter 1960 when they heard of Eddie's death they run to our Catholic church lit candles, the stories of those days are fantastic,
Ive played guitar since 1964 and finally bought my first Gretsch - a 6120 very similar and of course that color. No othef guitars have this sound. Mine is a 2016 made in Japan wkthout the G branding . thsnks for posting tnis!
Although it is specified as being on loan from the family. I imagine that they consider that's not only the safest place for it to be, but thousands of Eddie's fans will be able to see it.@@Tami9
Im a lefty, always wanted a Gretch like Eddies but couldnt find the spare cash (yet) ive been to chipp'whiltshire...the crash site. An Emotional video ❤ big thanks for sharing.
A very moving video. Even through the screen you can almost feel Eddie's presence hovering around that wonderful guitar, as if his soul and his wonderful music have been absorbed into it.
I just found this post, how did I miss it,I've watched every documentary on Eddie ,and the Areena documentary from the 80s was fantastic Eddie's mum wouldn't let the crew into his bedroom, Such a sad story for such a Talented guy,,I looked up his adreess on Internet years ago found the pics of the area, but latley looked up and it's gone been redeveloped,,it's sad but life has to move on ,I think Eddie ,Buddy ect will always be remembered, (come on everybody)
I think there will come a time when Eddies Gretsch guitar will end up in a music museum, in the end all great musicians instruments will eventually end up in one, for the public to appreciate a very special time.
Nope, that'd be Elvis. Don't even argue the point because you'd just sound stupid. Unlike you, I don't feel the need to make some pointed remark about another artist because I admire another, so I'm just pointing out a fact, not disrespecting Eddie Cochran.
What a great video!! Just wondering if anyone knows because I’ve never heard it talked about. The “Clear pick guard” did he take the original and remove the gold from the back or make a new one?
Holllllllll'y Shiiiit. "Is that the original strings on there?...." "Yes- they are the original strings" Strikes a chord- - TwiNg!!!! Whoops 🙄- Strings need changing
I had ep I bought in London, had it stolen, and track on it was ,dont wake up the kids its so hard to fine ,also had my Flying jacket stolen I had an old original Eddie badge on the colour,,man thief's 😢
"Go Johnny Go" was the movie. Chuck Berry was intended to be the main attraction, but after Valens' death he became the biggest draw since so little footage of him performing was ever taken, and even less exists now.
That wasn't Eddie's guitar. That was just another Gretsch 6120. If you look closely, you can see that the pickguard isn't clear, and it still has the stock neck pickup. 2 different guitars of the same make.
Sharon Shelly Eddie's girlfriend ,wrote poor little fool for ricky nelson he also died tragically,,Eddie's bye bye Baby me goid tune, I also like Teenage Heaven, pretty girl, dont ever let me go,B side to come on everbidy
Interesting wee video. I have no idea who the english chap is/was with the flattened vowels. . I always thought the daryl himan felloe was the only englishman with a hardon for eddie cochran. What's Jimmie Intvelds connection to the video i wonder....
Looks like it was preserved pretty well at the time, i mean it was with the family and pretty much stayed in a case. You know that straps made out of leather right? Puttijg tension on it doesnt mean its gonna snap like a rubber band

I have one of the gold discs that surround Eddie's portrait, it's the one for C'Mon everybody. Very honoured to have it here.

Eddie's mum kept it in a glass case for decades. She died in 1994 and the guitar is in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame museum now.

This is awesome. I’m very glad it’s not in a museum. Hope it remains in the family, as it should.
It is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio with other Eddie's memorables.

That's really something to have the actual guitar. a Gretsch 6120, one of my favourite hollow bodied guitars, from 1955.
A very moving video. Even through the screen you can almost feel Eddie's presence hovering around that wonderful guitar, as if his soul and his wonderful music have been absorbed into it.
Long Live Eddies 🎸✨🎶very Sad He Live Now forever in how mind heart and soul

What an honour! Great video
Iconic Treasure
He was so young to die, imagine what he'd have done musically in the 70s/80s. His poor mum. So sad.
In the 60s even,he was so progressive. He would have took to the blues and r n b scene like a duck out of water
The true king of music. Thank you Eddie❤

hi Ron didn't know you met Eddie Cochran's mother from Les
Hi Les glad you enjoyed it take care 😊
Coolness
James Intveld is in this video
What a great video!! Just wondering if anyone knows because I’ve never heard it talked about. The “Clear pick guard” did he take the original and remove the gold from the back or make a new one?
yes he remove the gold paint and the Chet Atkins name
Eddie scrapped all the paint off the scratch plate because he didn't care for the Chet Atkins name on it
He didn't scrape it off nor did he fir the P60 pick up himself. He got the guitar shop to do it.

Man i thought he might have played it
Why is the saddle straight? It's usually slanted
As much as I’d love to see it in a museum. I agree, no no…no.
I would at least put the guitar in a secure vault because anyone could steal it.
And have it insured for a million dollars!!!
@@paulmcwilliams1709 It was the '90s, not necessary.
Definitely iconic and a important piece of music history.
Ritchie Valens borrowed that guitar from Eddie for his role in the film Great balls of fire " I think that's the name"

That should not be touched with bare hands, rather handled like papyrus rolls or ancient stuff in museums.
It's Eddie Cochran's original guitar strap, and you are letting someone else put that on and put tension on it , oh no !
