Thanks for posting this - good narrative....same cylinder design on my 770 Ford loader bucket......the only difference is that the bolt trick to unthread the piston on rod end is peaned into the threads to "lock" the piston from easy removal. I need drill out the pean marks and find a bigger prybar or lever to remove the piston.
@AllenTrucks i still dont get it. does it have to face the the casing of the cylinder or the other direction . cuz it looks not hard to do. i have a john deere 1120 and one of the hydraulic cylinder's the lifts and lower the bucket leaks and i would like to try to fix it my self

is this the same or similar procedure for a log splitter?
I might be buying a log splitter that the hydraulic ram leaks whats it cost roughly to rebuild one
where did you get the seals for the Schwartz cylinder? I have one similar. 1 inch rod, likely 1.75 inch ID.
i have a 1975 550 ford backhoe i rebuilt the boom cylinder on the back why is it still leaking down. what else could be causing it to leak down
