It's insane to believe that this was 10 years ago. I was part of a pretty pivotal effort to restore the island, mainly down in Holgate. But helped people in other boroughs also. Spent quite a few months down there, The carnage was unreal! Never saw footage of landfall, must have been scary!
Good video, I know that stretch of the Blvd and the causeway so well. Weird seeing it flooded, can see the Ron Jon surf shop to the right. The last bad one was the Storm of 1962, we had a had a house in Barnegat Light on the inlet. No damage in '62 even though most of the island got wiped off. I knew another big one would return one day and everyone forgot how bad it could get. 50 years later is not too bad. Don't expect another super storm for another 50 years.
Glad so many of you were spared. So far, the hundreds of homes I have been in that were not are not so lucky. Still no help. It may look nice on the outside but thousands of homes are empty.
I stayed, right behind OH FUDGE, BRANT BEACH ( 41ST). Unfortunately, you started your one film segment later, 10, blocks down at 31st when you entered the borough of Ship Bottom! For us, the water licked our floorboards, the new dune held, and I was able to show show anxious neighbors in pictures that they had houses, albeit with new first floor refurbishments ahead! Had the new Brant Beach berm not been installed, we would not have stayed; the safest, water free zone in the BB 40's were the last 2 street addresses before the ocean bvld. several old houses with basements on the west side of Ocean bvld, had no water damage or encroachment, at all!

Hey nice video! I'm actually in LBI for the summer. Our house was barely damaged. Nice day here. We have a house in beach haven.
You’re on evac, ain’t no Rolls Royce. We left a few days before, hope everything turned out ok for you guys
Wow. I had this same experience. Wonder if we were on the same ride. Had all of our cats with us...
It was so scary living there at the time..
