If you haven't seen Frieren, I cannot emphasize enough how incredible it is. It turns what would be the epilogue of other fantasy books, where the party of heroes comes back after defeating the demon king, into the primary story. It follows an elf, for whom the 10 years of travel were less than 1% of how long she's lived, but the rest of her party are shorter-lived species. There is a reason it has taken and now retained the spot of Highest Rated Anime of All Time on My Anime List. Please do yourself a favor and read/watch it
It also exists as a series of light novels, a manga _and_ (though not fully adapted) anime! A lot of options when it comes to how you wanna approach it :)
Its a slightly above average series the themes are good but thats it pretty much. Worldbuiilding is as generic as it gets and mostly doesnt make sense and isnt fleshjd out at all its pretty much what author thinks its cool. For anime thats all about relations it fails to portray human condition you have thinks like a young girl fighting and killing a demon that look like human with 0 emotions being showed and things like that. Every episode tends to be extremely episodic which is not bad but the formula has very little variance. Characters dont really make sense including main character she is over thousand old elf that barely had any lived in experience and had close relationshions with few character for example, elves in general dont make sense. It falls into a lot of generic shounen/isekai tropes like dungeons being part of thje world, or people overly explain everything they do in a fight. The main theme of anime is nice but its not explored deep enough and ends up pretty shallow and is opposite of the show dont tell rule, iots extremely on the nose. Overall its fun show to watch if you dont think about anyuthing that is happening and just experience it but definitely nowhere close to what a lot of people make it out to be.

As someone who has read romantasy for a long time I roll my eyes every time there's an 'industry plant' theory. The romantasy and YA genres have always been full of over hyped breakout hits from unknown authors. Pretty much every established YA/romantasy author got there because they were lucky enough to hit the zeitgeist sweet spot after debuting as an unknown. Some authors have managed to sustain their popularity long term after a breakout hit (Suzanne Collins, Sarah J. Maas), while others have fallen back into obscurity afterwards.
