- This video we go over how to keep and breed your own feeder invertebrates for your reptiles! This is much cheaper then buying feeders and you get the added benefit of knowing exactly what your animal is eating!

Thanks!
I used to breed mealworms and developed a massive allergy to them. The frass is the worst- makes me sneeze and cough and itchy eyes and eventually swelling. I was feeding them to baby bats, and if the guts got in any scratches, BOOM! Massive welts and rash!
Awesome video Coop!!
That's awesome coupe I'm going to start breeding some stuff soon for my reptiles
Watching this again bc I just collected a bunch of isopods from my backyard to breed as feeders/clean up crew.
Awesome video! I breed my own meal worms
you should make an updated video too this
Super informative! You actually tell us everything we need to know lol. Do you know if fluon is toxic? There's a lot of contractions online...
Thanks! Not that I’m aware of I’ve never had an issue with it
Hi, with the woodies what temperature should i keep them at?
Great vid Coop! I wish I could keep breeding roaches. I might need to come up with a bio suit approach lol 😆
Would outside isopods and springtails harbour bacteria and diseases
I am going to breed superworms and woodies for my insect devouring reptiles, you use mainly woodies for the staple? I heard roaches can cause gout but read that any feeder insects can cause it if you gut load them with high protein stuff just wanted to know if you have info on that? Got me worried. I already have a gut load idea of capsicum, carrot, lettuce. Just want to know your thoughts I still will get crickets from the store for a bit extra for my staple.
I did mealworms but then I got grain mites in my spare room do too to much humidity...uhg!
So the ones that are the Rollie pollies-wood lice i can find in my backyard. Would they be safe to feed my leopard geckos ?
It depends on if you are willing to run the parasite risk.
Awesome video but what kind of reptile is that your holding at 8:10? looks super awesome!
I’m pretty sure it’s a green basilisk
No you cant have those here it's a southern angle headed dragon
@@jacobpospischil it’s a Boyd’s forest dragon
Can I have tips for keeping hornworms? This is for anyone to answer.
Hornworms idk, they aren’t actually worms their caterpillars. They will grow into a moth, so it would be complicated to have them
Google it lol
They love butternut squash & there are hornworm feed mixes you can purchase nowadays.
Do cockroaches need a heat source in winter. I live in Melbourne and I have lost a lot of my woodies due to the cold
yep
My biggest fear is that they all will run away. 😱😂
Any tips on getting rid of or avoiding mites?
Reptile mites? I have a video on treating them!
how often do you reapply the fluon to the woodies tub?
I only do it a few times a year
What is a good wattage for a 12x30 tank?
A lot has to do with the depth of the tank, typically you want 100 watt, but if it's deep you'll need 150 watt. Just make sure you get a sunglo bulb with UV output
With everything u have u need to add new blood lines so the current blood lines u have dont die to inbreeding I think
Inbreeding isn't an issue with insects.
What do you do with the huge dubia roaches ? They freak me out to think about!!!! 😭😰
I think cooper lives in australia so dubia roaches cannot be obtained.
the only roaches we can get are wood roaches or woodies for short
Do the roaches need dog food or can I do it with just carrots? Thanks.
They need both dry food and veggies I’m pretty sure. Dry food can be anything, not just dog food.
@@critterc0rner Why do they need dry food and wet food?
You should be careful breeding wild stuff because they can carry parasites or they can eat fertilized or sprayed with pesticides food. Other than that great video
I’m getting a breaded dragon!
Why not hornworms and superworms?
not as simple to breed and maintain for me. I have never even seen hornworms for sale here in australia
@@coopsreptiles2588 they are an agricultural pest in the US, but people raise them for reptile food since they have a fast growing cycle
can i feed my gecko canned bugs?
I wouldn't reccomend it
They’re not as nutritious and enriching as live bugs.
Vaseline is a cheaper option to fluon
Do not feed mealworms
What makes you say that?
Are you among the same people who also say never to feed spinach or kale because it binds calcium? Just because they’re not healthy in large quantities doesn’t mean it’s toxic and will kill your reptiles. Ya’ll acting like reptiles are going to get Impaction or MBD from a single bite.
