I started mealworm farm 6 months ago, nothing crazy just to save money feeding my Leo. Looking to make it more efficient and this has given me some great ideas
Thanks. It looked like there were 3 trays with screens then a catch tray? Is that right? I am guessing the frass just falls all the way trough with the mealworms movement?
Great video. I love the farm. I don't know what camera you are using but I suggest switching to any higher end smartphone with image stabilizer instead of it. They usually have great autofocus and you could use a gimbal stabilizer for extra smooth videos and you can attach that to a tripod as well for static shots.
Super interesting! Thanks for the inside view of a mealworm farm. So small! And it's incredible that they can use every part at every stage of the cycle!
Thank you for your valuable information and effort! Together, we have seen how important the camera focus is as well as your experienced sentences, we hope this problem does not repeat in other videos :)
lol. Great info! I watch the whole thing. Did not give up after 8 mins! but it is funny that the camera man was in focus for his shots while doing shots!!! lol Anyway great job guys. Do another one. Good luck guys I can not wait to see that update!

i am sorry if someone had wroten before but i'd like to thanks that's great idea to breeding them , and may i ask you what do you use for substrate i have many kind substrate to use in here as tropical region such as fodder wheat, or chaff? thank you..
Unfortunately the company went out of business. I wish I did a better job with the focus. I think it was set to manual. I have gotten better since this film.
Very interesting and exciting to see that so many amazing projects exist around the world. Very informative! Can you say how big the room was where they bred the bugs?
Just incase you thought I was kidding... mealworms are about 75% protein and 25-35% fat. and in some countries chefs have already started to experiment with the little critters for human consumption in a meat replacement.
So the beetles leave the nesting area or stay contained? They look like they are open. Always working to keep pests under control around the house and wouldn’t was to harm these.
Good morning my friend! I would like to know from you, if by putting the worms separately in the pots, I can leave them there until they become mature black beetles. The intention is only to put them together when they are all of reproductive age. That way, I will have a certain date to remove them from the substrate and the daughter larvae will have an approximate size pattern. Of course they will have food and moisture in the pots. Is it possible? Thanks!

I never thought I would be watching a video on worm farming, but I’m looking for another alternative to feeding my quail. So I really appreciate this video!!🐛💚 I cant believe she’s touching them like that:) I guess I better get used to it!! I can’t believe you just ate it!! I wasn’t expecting that:)
Once everything is a fine powder or when a majority of the bedding is gone. Make sure to keep the frass and things, as that's where the mealworm eggs are.
Thanks for the insight, ive just started, however i spent the first minute thinking my resolution on the video was wrong, was the lens dirty or maybe moist form the humidity, wasnt sure, it was informative just not as visually appealing as id hoped, thanks. Do they have the info on the trays they use as the system looks really streamlined.
I’m very interested in going large and doing a big farm. I might need help, if I need someone do you think if I’d pay someone could possibly come show me the ropes and help ordering the right stuff that I’d need to get? I’m a woman and I currently do roadwork and I work so hard and I’m looking into doing something new.
They are less nutritious than the larvae. It is more efficient to used the worms as feed and only allow pupation of the necessary amount to maintain population.
Hi, I am doing right now a business plan for a mealworm farm. Could you give me an information about weight of adult mealworm larvae in relation to volume?
I recommend doing this on a hobby scale before taking out a loan to fund something you have no experience with. Better to make those newbie mistakes on a small scale and without monthly payments to worry about. Nearly everything you learn on a small scale will apply to a commercial set up.
Id recommend doing meal worm experimentation or genetic learning, so you can learn more on better ways to make a meal worm better, i usually do experiments and bio breeding to make new types of breed of meal worms, and id recommend using vitamin A+ mixed with vitamin D+ to make meal worms bigger and much smoother on consumption, and it makes them more nutritious for the consumers, genetic learning would be great for that company
Hello friend, I follow your channel and I have seen all your videos, thanks for the content. I have several questions that I would like you to answer: How do you do the breeding cycles? Do you perform separation of larvae, pupae or beetles? Do you separate by sex? How do you calculate the production? What type of substrate do you use? The same for larvae and beetles? Thank you very much in advance.

Do the trays have screens on the bottom for the frass to filter through to a catch tray or is that done manually?
There were screens it fell through.
Screens it fell through.
Thanks. It looked like there were 3 trays with screens then a catch tray? Is that right? I am guessing the frass just falls all the way trough with the mealworms movement?
This is the most informative video on mealworm farming I have seen, yet. And the best farm setup. Thank you both!

Not really sure since its not my company.

If you Google cinnamon sugar roasted pecans, that is the recipe the meal worm snack is created from.
These are $100 pr kg at my local pet store.

What happens to the eggs that fall through the screen with the frass?
Not sure Barbara.
There would be no eggs because mealworms do not lay the eggs. The beetles do.

Yes we do. The chickens enjoy eating them--especially when other bugs have been killed off during cold temperatures.
